Lol.

Oh man I've had this headache for two days now. Right behind my left eye.

Eep! Headache behind one eye sound to close too a migraine. So does the duration. As a migraine sufferer, I don't wish that on anyone, myself included. Are one-sided 'headaches' common for you?

Received my second Covid vaccination this morning! In two weeks...not much really. I'll still wear a mask when out and about. Then again, our state is ending mandatory mask wearing beginning next month. Being fully vaccinated allows me to feel somewhat safer amongst non-maskers.

They're tacky looking imo, and they jam. Really, really easily at that.

That said I'm about halfway through modding an Oblivion install.

I hate drum mags tongue.gif

They're tacky looking imo, and they jam. Really, really easily at that.

The Thompson had a drum mag which it's famous for in gangster movies. But the army NEVER used that, they used straight mags that would feed properly and were much faster and easier to load. It always baffled me that Fallout 3 combat shotguns had drum mags because their inherent unreliability. Then I remembered Fallout 3 is a game... tongue.gif

Hehe.

I was having a heck of a time getting the UI mod installed. Kept doing stupid stuff. I don't remember it being this big a pain in the rear to install before.

But I got it in the end. Default UI looks atrocious. It was designed for consoles and doesn't fit well with a keyboard and mouse. Skyrim also has this problem, in as much as I use at least 4 mods to fix it. -_-

Funny thing, I never had an issue with Oblivion's UI. And I'm the kind of crow who HATES it when web pages are made to suit phones and tablets with overly blocky stuff to click on.
Sakiri
There's no problem with it, it's just not set up for ideal PC controls. That's why the quick menu is a radial dial. That's a console thing. It also drives me nuts.

And I don't remember how to use it.

And by atrocious, I mean "huge and obnoxious, even in 1080p."

Not even joking, the text is WAY too big.
mirocu
Yeah, I can see that. It's made to be looked at a TV from across the room tongue.gif
Sakiri
Like I said, designed for consoles.

Just ONCE I'd like to see a modern AAA game release for both platforms that have separate UIs. That or design for PC and back port.

I mean heck, Skyrim SE got trash audio quality compared to PS4. In fact, I'm using the PS4 files and they sound MUCH better.

They get cheap and lazy when it comes to PC, when I'd argue PC players play their games longer on average due to modding.

Also I can't find anything good in my YouTube subscription list tonight that I don't want to save for tomorrow.

Like I said, designed for consoles.

Yup. Bigger market. We say PC Master Race but really we often get the short stick due to this. Same when Deus Ex 2 was made.

Sakiri
For most games this is true but mods give TES games a longer life on PC.

Consoles get mods now, but for example, no third party assets on PS4 and massively restricted mod count and space taken on Xbox.

My Skyrim install is around 80 gigs. The game by itself is 12. The rest is mods. You cannot do that on console.

Now to ascend to an even higher realm of gaming VR!

I don't have binocular vision so VR gives me some awful time.

About PC games having a longer life (than their console equivalents), especially those that allow extensive player-centric modification. While that's good corporate PR and drums up enthusiasm for their future products, I suspect it's by and large considered a negative in the corporate world. They're rather us buy a new edition of the franchise every year or two rather than continue playing a game they can no longer make money off us with. If title have long play-lives, best stuff them with microtransactions and the like. Or so I believe they think.

Consoles are a surer bet for them, as they are 'closed' systems, in which all aspects are controlled by the equipment manufacturers and publishing houses. They lose some of that control on PC, hence it must play second fiddle, much as I long for the reverse.

Does any of this make sense? Prolly not. tongue.gif
Sakiri
It makes sense, except for the part about it being a negative that they've got a longer shelf life.

Those invested in say, the elder scrolls series, are still going to buy the newest and shiniest game for the most part, provided it's still moddable as the last one.

Or more so.

This particular franchise is incredibly defined by it's ability to be modded to high heck. If they ever did take that away in favor of the atrocity that is the Creation Club, I'd imagine their PC sales would tank, hard. The community comes up with better things than their CC authors do, in general.

But anyways.

In laws supposed to be going to get tested today. Here's hoping they actually did go. Clinic apparently had no time for them yesterday. Getting tested around here is a pain in the butt because there's very few openings... you get tested by appointment.

Well, that would’ve made sense before XBox and PlayStation started allowing mods on their machines. Also, as Skyrim has unfortunately shown, people are willing to buy the same game over and over again. I think this is a bad precedent as it makes game companies complacent. “Hey guys! Why create a new game when we can just add ray effects to an old game and market as a new edition? We’ll sell millions more copies with a minimal amount of work!”

That is a completely separate complaint and a very valid one.

Though I'd have liked to see a remaster of one of the older games before Skyrim. That's what you do when you remaster, you do it to an older game so that it runs on newer hardware better, and snags in customers that missed it when it was current. Morrowind could use a fresh coat of paint, for example. Even though I modded the crap out of it and made it look somewhat reasonable( https://i.imgur.com/LK1yUHZ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/g6bVVUs.jpg), it really could use a new coat of paint. Same goes with Oblivion( https://i.imgur.com/jR9SpIk.png https://i.imgur.com/9qJjkZW.png)

To remaster Skyrim though was just a greed move. They moved it to the FO4 engine basically, and resold it. Granted, I didn't pay for it(I got the free version since I had the Legendary Edition with all the expansions), its still a shady thing. And I don't think you can buy LE easily anymore.

I take a lot of scenery screenshots. >.> those were just a few I took of my modded setup. Oblivion is set up to use an ENB, but I don't have one installed. Morrowind however, the lighting is just fabulous.

Yeesh! First C19 shot my only side effect was a good bit of pain in the upper arm I received the shot in, that lasted 2-3 days.

This second shot hit me hard. I visited the official CDC site to see what they say about the matter. First, they say that the second shot can trigger more severe reactions than the first. CHECK

Here's a copy / paste of possible side effects:

....Tiredness
....Headache
....Muscle pain
....Chills
....Fever
....Nausea

I have all but one of these to one extent or other, some pretty harshly. Well, the times I took my temperature I had no fever. But I feel as if I do, all sweaty and clammy. Nor do I have chills.

Muscle pain, yes. I feel as if I'm a walking sore. Very unpleasant.

Headache, yes. Mine set in not long after leaving the sofa this morning. It persisted until supper, then faded.

Tiredness, yes. In spades! I skipped lunch coz I was too tired to get up off the sofa and fix it. I came close to skipping supper too, but forced myself. A good thing, as I've felt somewhat better since then.

Nausea, somewhat. I've no interest in food and, as mentioned, had to force myself to eat. I worried whether I'd be able to down supper. Luckily, all went well, and today's hard-boiled egg tasted scrumptious. I did have a bit of trouble with my apple. After a few crews it began tasting mildly obnoxious. I 'manned up' and finished the whole thing, and am the better for it.

I don't mean to discourage anyone from getting the vaccine. In fact, CDC says these side effects are s sign the vaccine working to build up immunity. Besides, you might not suffer them. In any case, I hope my symptoms clean NLT tomorrow.

- - So glad the side effects from your second shot resolved quickly.
I just had my first shot yesterday. As is my custom after a flu shot, I immediately did my weight workout to quickly disburse the shot out of my shoulder. Tiny bit of shoulder soreness this morning but no other side effects.

That's really good to hear.
The only problem I had with the first shot was tiredness. I couldn't stay awake the rest of the day. The pneumonia shot I got last year was far worse. My arm hurt for a week. My second C19 shot is scheduled in three days. Hope it goes well.
