When I was done with "The Dark Brotherhood" quests I got Shadowmere like everybody else. Well when I decided to start the main quests Jaufree told me to take his horse. So I decided to hop on and ride. Next thing I know the wayon prairie horse is following me around.

Is there any way I can get back my old horse?

Can horses die? Everytime my horse gets hit by enemies I cast a few healing spells on it, but I'm wondering if it's necessary?

If they do get injured, do they heal by themselves over time, while in the stables for example?

And is there a way to see the health status of the horses if they get injured?

Horses can die.You are right to cast some healing spells on them.They do heal themselfs over time,i'm not quite sure how but they do.Not to spoil you much,i will tell you that there is one unkillable horse in the game,so you don't really have to heal it.About the status:Well just aproach the horse.You should see it's health bar just like you can see it on your enemyes.

Thanks for the help. I must admit I didn't know there were health bars for others in the game. A quick look in the manual showed me that it was that strange arc in the middle of the screen. Been wondering what that was...

I still only have that first Painted horse, but I think I know which other horse you mean. Been reading about it here, but I'm not sure which quest it was in. Don't want to know either!

If your horse dies is there a cheat that just remakes it ect(armo & weapons) I cant find a cheat like that on this site. Will it work since technally horses are items.

there are so many horse mods, I think that might be the most common type of new mod. Besides the rebalancing mods that everyone seems to feel neccessary to make initially.
I want to get call horse, name your horse, ride wild horses (which has some bugs that some things were not made essentials that should be), and some of the other horse mods I've seen. I've DL'd quite a few, but the only one I installed had the bugs so I've held off on the rest.
