Kane
Name: Andromeda
Origin: Volii Alpha (Neon City)
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Appearance: Headshot

Background
Cyber Runner: From Neon to New Atlantis, the megacorps stand as monuments to power, prestige and profit. You've worked both for and against them, on the inside and out, often sacrificing conscience for credits.

Traits
Empath: You are deeply connected to the feelings of others. Performing actions your companion likes will result in a temporary increase in combat effectiveness. But, performing actions they don't like will have the precise opposite effect.

Neon Street Rat: You grew up on the mean streets of Neon. You gain access to special dialogue options, and better rewards from some missions on Neon. Crime bounty by other factions is greatly increased.

Wanted: Someone put a price on your head, and word has spread. Occasionally, armed mercenaries will show up and try to kill you, but being cornered gives you an edge - when your health is low, you do extra damage.

An expert hacker, Andromeda found trouble in Neon City and has been on the run for some time. She took a job as a miner with Argos on Vectera to lay low for a while until she could raise money to clear her bounty but has now gotten wrapped up with the explorer's group known as Constellation. Where she'll end up next is a mystery, but for now she just wants answers to what happened to her when she dug a strange artifact out of the mine on Vectera.

Cool, so if I ever get into Starfield, here's the thread to build upon our people and what they're all about. People, right? Is it possible to play an alien sort of lifeform?

I like that she's a hacker.

"You are deeply connected to the feelings of others!" ohmy.gif Oh my gosh, that sounds as though it's from a Sims game! (which is a good thing, in my opinion. These are supposed to be people, from our roleplayers' perspective.)

I gotta get the nextBox this summer, laugh.gif
Kane
Yep, this is the characters thread! You can only play as human, there aren't any humanoid aliens, just creatures.

The return of backgrounds and traits is nice for expanding depth like that.

Empath is nice because it also (like most traits) opens up more dialogue options. Can help get NPCs to do things for you.

Andromeda (Dro) joined the UC Vanguard today. They need the ship captains and she needs access to better ship weapons! Match made in heaven.

Make sure she inspects her ship for heatleeches!
Kane
I saw a heatleech the other day. Horrible creatures. wink.gif

Not sure yet how far I'll dive into that questline. I want to explore a bit to earn some cash, and get to know Sam Coe. His quest is the only one I haven't tackled due to the fact that I don't like having Cora along. The dad in my doesn't like having a kid on my ship while constantly being attacked by bounty hunters and pirates, or exploring worlds full of hostile creatures.

Right?! It’s totally irresponsible having her on board. Also, why the hell isn’t she in school?

But is their meat rather tasty?
TheCheshireKhajiit
I don’t think anyone would want to eat a heatleech, lol
My skin crawls whenever I come across one in game laugh.gif
Kane
I bet there is a mod that makes them drop meat. Heatleech pie!

I think they drop “nutrient”, which can be turned into food.
Kane
Solid point; I couldn't remember what they drop.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Same for Xenogrubs.

I actually figured that .

I didn't guess those specifically but I've seen enough scifi to guess they were going that route. That's probably my favorite faction questline, too. Hadrian is great and I was glad they didn't try to shove a heel turn into her story, because of who her father is.

I enjoyed too, I have to say.

I wish the people in the Crimson Fleet were cooler though. Like that pirate captain that Berrett gets “kidnapped” by. That guy is cool as sh*t. The other people in the faction are awful to you at every turn and make betraying them the only sensible choice.

Haha, Matsura is awesome. But then, like you said, everyone else in the CF is a d*ck. None of them ever grow on you either, or start to respect what your accomplishing for them*. Andromeda will definitely be gloating at them in the brig of the UC Vigilance.

I guess maybe they felt like they had to make the CF awful, otherwise no one would side with the UC? Just feels like a missed opportunity to do a really cool faction that people would be sympathetic to. To me it would be way better if you heard all these horror stories about how evil the Fleet is and then when you actually meet them, they were mostly like Matsura. Not saying there couldn’t be a few hardcases, but Matsura is definitely the one exception, and not the rule.

Name: Skyler Pyzlowski

Nickname: Skye Pylot

Platform: Xbox Series X

Creation Date: December 21, 2025, 8:48 pm

Traits: Dream Home (she gets a free home?), Introvert? wow... this game is wandering into SIMS territory, and Terra Forma, which means she can't breathe as easily in space I guess.

Origin: don't know yet, somewhere on Earth, though I don't know if our planet is represented in the game.
Age: 55
Gender: Female
Appearance: hello. Not a very good pic but I haven't figured out how to move the camera in and out yet.

Here is her in-screen (paper doll) menu pic; so glad Bethesda has brought this back.

I modeled Skyler while looking at pics of Skyler White, Walter's wife on Breaking Bad

Background: Homesteader. I figure Skye's got some family/mothering experience in her past so Homesteader seems closest, but the game's description of " the discovery of the Settled Systems' many oxygen-rich planets and moons meant humans could survive just about anywhere...." hints that in some point, her mommy life came to some massive changes.

Miscellaneous stuff:

Theme Song: Sky Pilot, Eric Burdon and the Animals

SubRosa
I guess your Sky Pilot did reach the sky however! smile.gif

One of us! One of us! One of us!

Welcome to the Starfield, Skyler! I'll have to post a character update for Andromeda later. Her story is ongoing, but she recently hit level 100. blink.gif

To add on to what Khajiit said, Earth was made uninhabitable a long time before the events of Starfield, so it won't be possible for your character to be from Earth (unless maybe you reeeaaallly stretch the lore, or Bethesda builds upon the lore in some way that you can justify it). You'll find out why Earth had to be abandoned near the end of the main questline. I won't spoil it, but I will say it's actually a unique reason why that isn't something that has been done to death in other fictional media.

There are a lot of homesteads randomly scattered about the Settled Systems, but cities that might make sense for your character's birthplace are New Atlantis, Gagarin, Neon, Akila City, or Londinion.

What, you already made Andromeda, dangit! Ann Dromeda is going to be my second character in this game! goodjob.gif I actually thought of Ann Dromeda before Sky Pilot got running in my head yesterday morning.
Kane
Yep, her profile is the opening post for this thread!
Renee
Well shoot, I bet I picked up Andromeda subconsciously then. Pretty sure I read thru this thread within the last month.

Really? When is this mentioned? or it's too much of a spoiler, don't answer please. I don't think I heard this during the tutorial, and there is no opening movie like there is for Fallout games, not that I noticed.

Thanks for the info Rader. Skye will eventually have more backstory, like where she's from and so on, but it'll take time for us to get there.

There's some resemblance to Mass Effect so far, in the sense we can choose what sort of "job" our people have held in the past, and this means we can pick a smidge of Background during chargen at all. I also noticed pre-written topic responses we can choose as the quest moves forward. Glad this game is open world, of course. Mass Effect is fun, but the lack of exploration (on MY terms or my characters' terms) often made me skip returning to ME in the past, opting for Fallout on my PC instead.

You find out pretty early on. Sarah Morgan mentions it in an early quest in the main story. And when you get the ship from Barrett, you can go to Earth right away and see for yourself. When you read the stats for Earth that you see for every planet, you'll find out something in particular about it that makes it uninhabitable now, but you won't find out the reason for this until late in the main questline.

Another city I forgot to mention is New Homestead on the moon Titan, which orbits Saturn. IIRC, that is the first settlement founded off of Earth, as it was being settled even before Earth became uninhabitable.
