“The Dark Brotherhood is a guild of assassins shrouded in shadow and mystery which has been active all over Tamriel. While their business is certainly not legal, their existence has typically been tolerated or ignored. Whenever an individual with legal authority takes an interest in their dealings, the Brotherhood relies upon a combination of bribery, blackmail, coercion, and murder to keep their activities hidden.” Macalla redeemed herself from the dark life of the Brotherhood and repented for her sins in the way shrines of the gods spread throughout Cyrodiil. She eventually was knighted and became a
knight of the Nine.. Following her conversion, she traveled Cyrodiil to vanquish monsters and witches and vampires and werewolves in their name.
Skills: Just as her personality was diverse, so were the talents that Macalla used throughout her tumultuous career. She was known to be a skilled assassin, gifted in infiltration and subterfuge, as well as framing her enemies. After leaving the Dark Brotherhood, she used some of her combat abilities as a Knight and Witch Hunter. She has moderate healing abilities, and relies more on her quick-footed talents and sword proficiency rather than spells.
Gear: Macalla only carries a few precious things with her such as her pack of food, her canteen and a few smaller things such as jewelry. All of her Dark Brotherhood gear was thrown away in the depths of Lake Rumare.
Family: Macalla was born in a simple family of commoners. Her mother worked as a cook and her father as a woodcutter in Falkreath. When she was kidnapped at the age of seven, she never saw her family again. Her real family became the Dark Brotherhood, until the time where the Cheydinhal sanctuary was purged, giving her time to renounce her murderous ways.
App
earance: Macalla is an average woman of average height. She sports short, brown hair and light-green eyes. She doesn’t let her good-looks cloud her judgment; she isn’t a vain person or takes advantage of others. While she knows she is moderately attractive, she tends to keep herself in good shape and good looks, despite not being overly concerned about it.
Personality:
“Mortality. Have you ever wondered what happens to a person after they die? I have spent so much of my life taking lives that I never paused to give thought of life beyond death, though my own sword has sent many there. I have slain. Sent souls to the Void. And I will make up for that evil by honoring the Nine, and spreading their good word wherever I can. It is the least thing I can.”It is a mystery how Macalla as a child was, but what is known about her is her rise and recruitment to the rejection of the Dark Brotherhood. Her desire for murderous vengeance marked Macalla’s first step towards the Brotherhood, and her Listener recognized this in her. Despite this desire for death to the unworthy, she was not yet completely a fallen individual, still being traumatized by her tasks as a killer. During those times, all of these traumatic problems would make Macalla repress all of her childhood memories and forget her family. Even so her initial step towards the Brotherhood remained a permanent part of her personality for the majority of her life. Being raised in the Dark Brotherhood, who was not a very kindly in their line of work, Macalla learned turmoil, anger, rage and sadism and apathy in her mind. She was made to be loyal, but also a ruthless assassin and an unstoppable killer.
Recruited by the Brotherhood, Vibecke became a young killer that embarked on a vicious and murderous killing spree against the victims of the Black Sacramanent. Due to her life in the Dark Brotherhood learned how to maintain a fine and collected composure in almost every stressful situation. During many multiple problems she was able to prioritize what had to be done, and what she could afford to do later. Additionally, her keen mind and sharp tendencies often granted her bonuses and a pocket full of extra coin when she reported back to her superiors.
Even though Macalla displayed a toughened exterior, she hide a warm and compassionate side to her. Even as an assassin of the Brotherhood, she had a merciful nature, especially when it came to serving the greater good. She gave the innocent quick and almost painless deaths whenever she could, and she gave criminals and law-breakers slow ones. Her violent nature slowly began to decline, and she became something of a changed woman.
When hunting down and dispatching her contracts, Macalla was always satisfied that she had helped the Brotherhood and fulfill Sithis‘ and the Night Mother‘s will. To that end, she was disturbed by the fact that he would have to cut down a few vampiric assassins, feeling that their only crime had been to cross her path, but she was careful to conceal her feelings from the Black Hand. At the same time, for much of her life had been dictated by her spilling and thirst for blood, which she knows is a part of her albeit one she is almost willing to get rid of. While talented and intelligent, Macalla has many sides to her personality. She was knowledgeable of her purpose in life and what she was meant to do; she started with a confident focus on the Dark Brotherhood life trained into her by her peers. However, her exposure to both the gods and the Knights of the Nine, and also to the reality of the oppression her assassin life caused her loyalty to waver. Ultimately, her merciful nature proved incompatible with Dark Brotherhood philosophy, and she gradually made her long-lasting choices in life accordingly.
As a Knight of the Nine, Macalla was humorous, though wise beyond her years. Her humble and soft-spoken attitude masked her stealthy prowess. In many ways she represented the strength of the Knights of the Nine: steadfast, brave, selfless, and modest. Her gifted skill at being diplomatic and avoiding almost every confrontation made her shine in the eyes of her fellow knights. She still loathed creatures and individuals that were created or made in the Dark Arts. She sees and pities them, and like most knights, considers giving them a proper death a form of liberation.
History: Macalla was born to a poor Breton family in Skyrim who moved to Cyrodiil in hopes of a prosporous life. Her mother worked as a cook while her father labored at the colovian highlands to gather wood. She was a normal young girl up until the day she was kidnapped by a deranged old man who sadistically felt the need to rape children. She remained unharmed during her sequestration. Though the man was illusive, his reputation and identity was known in the area.
Her father, angered by the loss of his daughter, performed the Black Sacramanent and ordered the Dark Brotherhood to kill the kidnapper wherever he may be and to return his daughter to him if she was alive. The Dark Brotherhood honored his call, and set out to kill the man. The kidnapper was slain, but Macalla was never returned to her parents. Instead, the Dark Brotherhood took her in after she held a butter knife to her kidnapper’s throat when he was being struck down by the assassin. Curious about the grieving girl, they took her in and trained her until the day she was ready to work as an assassin.
During her adolescent years she was raised and taught in the art of death and the philosophy of the Dark Brotherhood, and became a gifted killer as she performed her tasks to the letter in honor of the Dread Father. As the years went by, Macalla contracted vampirism from one of her victims and became one of the vampires among the Dark Brotherhood’s ranks.
Enjoying her life as a vampire and immortality. Macalla was further ensnared in the ways of the Dark Brotherhood until the day when she was called to murder a child who was to be killed by orders of her own family. Honoring the Sacrament, Macalla carried out the task and murdered the child, though feeling regret and a sick mood for the rest of her years.
In 3E 421, Macalla was tasked to accompany her new family to the Second Purification ever recorded in the history of the Dark Brotherhood; the cleansing and eradication of the Crimson Scars, a vampiric splinter-faction within the Dark Brotherhood that planned to overthrow the Black hand and the Brotherhood to replace it with their own. Thanks to Silarian, a Dunmer who betrayed the Crimson Scars and informed the Hand of their plan, Macalla and the others were able to quell the rebellion before it truly began.
Macalla showed her loyalty to the Dark Brotherhood, even despite killing her own kind in the process, and remained one of the few vampires within the organization until the year 3E 433.
Thirty years old and a skillful assassin and a vampire, Macalla was beginning to have doubts about the Dark Brotherhood. Their murderous ways and the death of more children and innocents at her hand further increased her desire to leave the order. It wasn’t until a renegade assassin, Mathieu Bellamont, wreaked havoc against the entire Dark Brotherhood and the Black Hand, causing the deaths of many members in the process. Macalla heard of the rumors and discovered it was true, and decided that this was her only way out of the Dark Brotherhood with all of the major players in the organization in Cyrodiil gone.
Macalla renounced her armor, her poisons, her life as an assassin and decided to find a new meaning. She decided to join the Knights of the Nine, and went on a lengthy pilgrimage to repent for her sins. She cured her vampirism in the process and became a human Breton once again. She donned the Knight’s armor and a sword, and employed her stealthy and combative talents for a more noble and honorable career.
A year after she was nighted, Macalla joined the Vigilantes of Stendarr and became one of their warriors. A witchunter. To root out Daedra and their vile creations wherever they hide.
