I hope nobody minds if I post some Kahreem here. I'm kinda hungry for some Kahreem of Weet. wink.gif

No one minds about him specifically, though I thought you had other threads for him and Saga smile.gif

Those other threads will continue as well. I just find it easier to write here at Chorrol, directly into the web page as I'm gaming. The problem with writing at Beth is later on if I need to edit something, for some reason my Internet will compress all my text into one huge wall. Beth's forums (on my browser) basically get rid of any paragraph breaks, which means I'll have to sit there and manually break the text up by hand. It's frustrating.

Chorrol? It's much easier to write here.

That happens to me every time I write something larger there and I hate it. Well anyway, post some Kahreem now and Iīll read it tonight biggrin.gif

Good to know. I just finished the story, it's not very long. I figured my first Kahreem tale here should not be so massive. Sun's coming up as I write this anyways, and you know my little rule about sunshine and gaming by now, right? Take care.

I’m glad you’re writing about the Weet Bandit here! I haven’t had time to check the Beth threads lately, so I was running low on Kahreem of Weet. wink.gif

And now he’s a well-paid courier, lol. Good hunting in Leyawiin!

Good to know, Grits and mirocu. We shall all have some Kahreem of Weet in the future, then. smile.gif And now, I present my other character. When we last saw her, she was leaving Chorrol, on her way back to Shetcombe Farm.

...She has heard of the others, others who had also been travelling through Cyrodiil, on adventures of their own. A former low-paid scribe known as the Grey Wizard had recently become the newest Arch Mage. He had been writing scrolls for ages as the story went, making just a few gold a week, but his talents with magic had grown so strong, and it was he (it was said) who had fostered the end of Mannimarco, the so-called 'King of Worms'. Some stories had explained that Arch Mage Traven had been mysteriously killed after all of this, but whether or not these stories were true was of some debate.

A pair of others named Renee Gade II and Dyan phor a'Cauz had also been about; these two had taken upon what was known as the "Pilgrim's Way," and it was rumored they were looking for weapons and armor belonging to Pelinal Whitestrake, an ancient leader of humans who had defeated the threat of Umaril, beginning what was known as the 'First Era'. Renee and Dyan (like the Grey Wizard) had been traveling all over Cyrodiil, ridding enemies from various holds, forts, ruins, and caves, as their fame and glories rose.

There were others as well, Saga realizes as she rides past the mysterious hamlet known as Hackdirt. Igodah Go^Pe, a somewhat contemptuous high elf living in the Arcane University, is one such person. Unlike the Grey Wizard, Igodah did not possess such a reliably regal reputation, but she had also been doing her part at keeping Cyrodiil safe. Renee, Dyan, the Grey Wizard, and Igodah. All of them playing a part in the grand scheme of Tamriel.

"Cyrodiil shall see much protection from these sorts." Lady Saga muses as a rat attacks her horse. This rat (of course) quickly falls behind. "And Cyrodiil shall prosper, I have no fears of anything but. And I shall soon attend hopefully amongst those who dwell upon Nirn much as intended, while these others perform their good works."

6:23 pm
Lady Saga and her un-named bay horse pass the cottage known as Weatherleah. Over the past few months, this cottage has been rumored (Saga has heard) to be inhabited by a dark elf witch; a daedra-worshipping practitioner of the Black Arts. This witch had become a vampire at some point, and had been terrorizing the towns of Skingrad and Chorrol.

But as Saga and her horse walk closer, the place does not seem to be inhabited. It seems downright abandoned, matter of fact, with no sign of recent life (or un-life) other than a series of bones upon the ground. If a vampire had been living here, these bones might still be present, but they would not be stripped of all their flesh. She thinks she is safe.

But as she nears Weatherleah further, she notices a couple images in her vision, these images glowing purple as her Detect Life activates.

"Ogres!....Blasted creatures!"

Ogres in Valenwood had all been eliminated, except in the very roughest of terrain. She is surprised to see so many of them congregating here. ... She bolts her horse away as they notice her! ... Big and slow, these giants simply will never catch her on horseback. She rides away with ease, and keeps her horse at a full gallop as the ogres fall far behind. Before she knows it, she has left the Great Forest, and rides upon the West Weald once again.

The sun is about to set. She turns to the right, heading west towards Kvatch.

"A city which has burned to the ground, as the rumors fly."

Saga has heard about Kvatch, about the daedra attacks, and she has no intention of visiting the place before she goes. Daedra (or "dee-dra", as the dark elf in Chorrol had pronounced) had attacked Kvatch, but they had not attacked other villages, hamlets, and towns, yet. ...And this is all Lady Saga needs to know.

The sky is an inky blue as she makes her way past a large Ayleid ruin inhabited by goblins. One of these cries out "YAAAAH!" as a wolf attacks him. But as Saga makes her way further west she is attacked by another wolf. And another. And then a troll! And another troll. Once again, she gallops her horse a full speed, hoping to shake all these pursuants!

"Ohh HOW I MISS THE FORESTS! BUT NOT FOR LONG! ... NOT FOR LONG MUST I TOLERATE THIS NONSENSE!"
she screams as the enemies do not give up.

Amazingly she finds the place. But by the time she's made her way back to Shetcombe, she's got many enemies waiting to chomp upon her and her horse! ... She just cannot shake them. Spontaneously she makes a plan, after circling the farm several times: she jumps the horse upwards upon a low-lying stable made of straw. She hopes this straw will hold the weight of her horse without collapsing. It does. Saga then dismounts the bay, reaches into her satchel, and unrolls a bit of paper, trying not to panic.

"Have a bit of play with THIS!" she says, reading a scroll that summons a giant daedroth. The daedroth manages to kill just one wolf and one troll, and then unfortunately its summon ends.

"Rats."

She summons a ghost next, but this is like blowing a cloud of smoke into the wind; its cold spells barely make a dent when faced with the health-regenerating trolls.

"Noo!"

At one point, Lady Saga's horse somehow gets bitten by the sole remaining timber wolf, and the horse decides to jump off the stable, and begins to fight. Immediately the troll decides he'd like some horse flesh, and figures he'll join in with the timber wolf! ... Saga cannot do anything about this, she feels suddenly helpless. Then, she comes up with a plan. Both enemies are distracted, so before they manage to kill the horse, Saga jumps off the stable as well, and then crouches behind one of Shetcombe's walls, casting Detect Life and waiting to see if these dreadful enemies will finally just go away. She thinks she might hide inside the cottage itself, but then she remembers that trolls can open doors, which means there'd possbibly be nowhere to escape.

So she hides in the grass, and casts her dual detect life spells, until finally the enemies seem to be gone. Once this is so, she creeps slowly past Shetcombe's entrance, where she notices a couple of pumpkins had been placed on each side of the door*. She creeps back to the stable, expecting to find her dead horse, but she's surprised that the horse (as well as the troll and wolf) are nowhere to be found.

1:53 am

"Erthor? You are still here?"

"I hope we'll get to Skingrad soon. I've had enough of the wilderness for now".

Lady Saga cannot believe her fellow wood elf, the only one who had chosen to follow her (for awhile) on her various quests, is still living at Shetcombe.

"You know, Skingrad is just down the road, right? ... Egads! I cannot believe you have been here all this time!"

Saga says this, and then she thinks she can't blame him for staying here where it's safe. With giant trolls and larger-than-usual wolves running around outside, Shetcombe might just offer some sort of protection.

"Well, perhaps I can take you back. On the morrow. But I must rest first. 'Tis of many dangers outside, and I, for one, must sleep and recuperate. "

"Okay. If you say so!" Erthor says. He's excited his heroine has returned, obviously. "I can't wait to be back in Skingrad, safe and sound!"

The two share a couple bottles of mead along with some of the other food Saga had bought earlier in the day. Then, she passes out in one final Cyrodiilic splendor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Morndas, 11;53 am
The next morning, Saga and Erthor leave Shetcombe Farm one last time. Lady Saga heads south, despite Erthor's complaints that he'd rather go to Skingrad.
"Oh come now, Erthor, you will grow to like the place! I make this as a promise!"
Erthor complains once again that he'd rather go back to Skingrad, safe and sound. But Aerin the wood elf hopes Erthor will appreciate the wilds and wonders of her homeland, instead.
So Saga decides not to help him back to Skingrad? Well, if he really wanted to get back there, Shetcombe is fairly close so he should have been able to get back himself wink.gif
Speaking of Skingrad, Lothran is there right now and is enjoying the beautiful landscape and the friendly people. The weather was perfect and one could see for miles. And all the green! So refreshing from all the white in Bruma! tongue.gif
Itīs like they say; A change of scenery can make a whole new elf happy.gif
That is cool, mirocu. That's neat how you spend so much time up in Bruma, and then when the weather changes in-game that's when Lothran moves? Did I get that right?
He moves down when the time is right and that shifts a bit from year to year. Thanks to my console magic the weather never changes in Bruma so if it was up to that, Lothran would be there forever! biggrin.gif
Edit: When I say "time is right" Iīm referring to my calender. He ususally moves down around Easter smile.gif
Tonight is a historic moment. Tonight I begin gaming with a brand new species, new for me, that is. smile.gif Before gaming, I decided to have a peek at one of my old DnD books for a description. I had to correct some of the shockingly bad grammar in the text!
LIZARD MAN
Intelligence: Low
Alignment: Neutral
Lizard men are semi-aquatic, breathing air but often (35%) dwelling totally underwater, and having caves which are water-filled in which they lair. They band together in rough tribal form. They are omnivorous, but lizard men are likely to prefer human flesh to other foods. In this regard, they have been known to ambush humans, gather up the corpses and survivors as captives, and take the lot back to their lair for a rude and horrid feast.
About 1 tribe in 10 has evolved to a higher state. These lizard men willl dwell in crude huts, use shields, hurl barbed darts or javelins, and use clubs.
They speak their own language.
The Imperial City. Home of a cosmopolitan mix of humans, elves, orcs, Khajiit, and Argonians from all walks of life. Rich and poor. Noble and sneaky. Pious and destitute. The Imperial City during the latter Third Era is a very safe and special place to be. One can relax and be himself. Or herself. Outbursts of any kind are rare, and are quickly dealt with by the city's massive force of guards. Shops can be browsed, food can be had, money can be made, while idle conversation languishes on and on in the city's thoroughfares.
But below them, lurks a menace. Below them, an unspoken secret which some will come to believe to be nothing but rumor, and others will fear first-hand.
"Ich brauche ssspeise. Ich habe hunnnger"
....
Abwasserkanal Eidechsse
awakes from a long long sleep, and finds himself in darkness. Other than some green mold glowing faintly upon a few walls, it is nearly pitch black in his new home.
"Ich brauche sssspeise. Menssschliches fleisch und trauben"... he mumbles and hisses in a low voice.
A torch lies next to his newly-found bedroll, along with a series of gemstones, pearls and other curiosities. He likes his new home. He feels safe here, much safer than he did up in the forest. As he awakes, he decides he'd like to explore his new home further...which seems to (so far) be an underground dwelling of some sort. Thick stone walls. Low-lying fetid water is gathered up in a series of canals that do not flow. How far underground does this place go?
As petticoat-wearing socialites and ladies dressed in Palonira's finest make their way lazily about the markets, Arboretum, and Temple, a menace stirs from sleep. And begins to stalk and creep.
"How are you?"
"Fine! Thanks for asking!"
Living on mud crabs and rat meat for several days, now, Abwasserkanal is ready for something more....delectable.
"Be seeing you!"
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
7:26 pm
clop...clop...clop....clop...
The sound of feet move far above, and shafts of light shine high from the ceilings of this underground place. Abwasserkanal thinks he hears voices, but is not entirely sure. One thing he knows: his new home is enormous. It is also already inhabited.
A set of humanoid dwellers: both of them Khajiit, as well as some mudcrabs and rats, are the beings Abwasserkanal encounters as he creeps through passage after passage in the semi-darkness. At times, he needs a hand-held torch to see by. His kind has an acute sense of smell, keen hearing, but not very good eyesight. Not underground, anyways.
1:20 am
After going through a circular door, he finds himself in a portion of the Big White City itself.
"SSehrrr gut!"
It is night time. The air is lightly scented with about a dozen different aromas; all of them pleasant. Despite the fact that he can speak a language, Abwasserkanal's brain thinks in images and colors instead of words. He realizes that when he started going underground a day or two before, he had been on a small, warm, sandy beach, and the Big White City had been located off in the distance. He has therefore traveled completely under the city itself, and has arrived in this pleasant garden-like place.
3:31 am
After trying several doors (all of which are locked), he finally finds one which is unlocked. Inside is a shop of sorts full of colorful walls, and the smell of smoked food. ...Food is arranged everywhere! Food on the tables! Food on the floor!
"Jaaa! Speice! ... Ich mussss esssen!"
There is a human standing guard of all the food, but Abwasserkanal does not care. He feasts his eyes on a large green piece of fruit; fruit as he has not seen in awhile. He salivates! Before the human can realize, Abwasserkanal grabs the heavy green fruit and runs back outside, puncturing and then devouring the fruit with a series of snaps from his razor-sharp teeth. Sticky pink juice gets all over his snout! .. As soon as he is done eating, he decides he wants some MORE.
...He has spent weeks in the forests, subsisting on mushrooms, flowers, and leaves, so his hunger is massive.
"You treacherous little filcher! How DARE you steal from me!"
Abwasserkanal likes the taste of the next food he grabs. It has a strange texture, as well: hardened on the very outside, yet flakey and tender on the inside.
"Keep your hands off of that you WORTHLESS THIEF!"
Abwasswerkanal realizes these angry words are directed at him, and does not entirely care. If they come for him, he can defend himself, easily. He continues to eat the loaf of bread he has just grabbed off a nearby table. He cannot wait to eat another loaf.
"STOP!" says a man wearing metal clothes. "You violated the law. Pay the court a fine or serve your sentence! Your stolen goods are now forfeit!"
Although the Argonian known as Abwasserkanal cannot understand the metal-suited man, he can certainly "feel" him. The man wearing the metal clothes is angry. He is not pleased. The Argonian feels this anger, and knows what to do next.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
8:18 am
"THIS ENDS HERE!!!"
"I've fought mudcrabs more fearsome than you!"
Moments later, Abwasserkanal is back in his new home. His very large new home. He jumps down a ladder, rushes down a set of stairs, and runs into the next room, just as he had rehearsed several hours earlier. He finds the giant wheel on the wall, and starts to turn it, causing a clattering of noise.
"DIE, DAMN YOU!"
...yells one of the men in the metal clothing, as he finds himself stuck behind the impenetrable iron door Abwasserkanal has just closed.
"Ha! YOU'LL NEVER YOU SHOULD HAVE PAID THE FINE!"
As the Imperial guards get trapped behind this iron door, Abwasserkanal, an Argonian Rogue from Black Marsh, calmly sneaks away. He nibbles once again on his raw crab meat, and the tasty human's food he just stole.
From the Great Forest to Imperial City and from there to the woods west of Cheydinhal. I think my little Dunmer is off to investigate the mysterious cabin that is said to be someplace south of Cheydinhal..
Oh, Buffy just cleared Belda and Barren Mine on the way to Cheydinhal. After a day to retrofit there and sell off some frost salts and vampire dust, she's leaving now. Hopefully she'll encounter Lothie. Gosh, if you think he's a little Dunmer, I really hope he runs into Buffy - to remind him how small a little elf really is! biggrin.gif
Mysterious cabin south of Cheydinhal? Hmm. . . one from the mod Kvatch Rebuilt comes to mind. . . could it be?
According to local rumors, a lone ranger once lived in it. But itīs supposedly empty now and Lothran has been thinking about "setting up shop" in that area for some time now... hehe.gif
BONG! .... BONG! ....... BONG!!!....
....go the chapel bells.
Midnight has struck in Bravil. The skies are dark, but clear. The Kahreem of Weet leaves the Lonely Suitor Lodge, where he has met with a Khajiit Thieves Guild member by the name of S'Krivva. The discussion? ... A ring that has gone missing in Leyawiin. Kahreem is given the task of retrieving it somehow, and then returning it to its rightful owner.
"Ha! .. should be a cinch!"
If Leyawiin is anything like Cheydinhal, Kahreem feels fully confident that he will be able to handle the matter of finding this ring, and then giving it back to its true owner.
"Bumbling guards! .... Poorly-equipped townspeople! ... I should have that ring in my possession in no time a hah-hah hah!"
Leyawiin is yet another town (the last town, actually) that he has never been, though. There's always a chance that maybe Leyawiin will be different, Kahreem thinks. Maybe its garrisons are packed with battlemages, or maybe its stables house a battalion of trolls, which only gets released when people like him show up in town. But he thinks this is not the case.
"I'm looking forward to this one."
But he's not in Leyawiin yet. The night is young here in Bravil. And Kahreem decides he's going to... celebrate his new job.
BONNNNNNNG! .... BONNNG! ...BONNNNG!..
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
12:57 am
He returns to his new home, and quickly removes most of his newly-repaired armor. Kahreem now wears only a stolen pair of buckled shoes, as well as some pants issued to him while he was in jail. Kahreem's shirtless upper body is so dark, it's almost as if he's born for his profession.
"Gonna have to see about getting something to freshen the place up".
City Swimmer owned a small and convenient home, packed with fresh food and an assortment of useful items. This home is located on Bravil's third story, and is a great place for Kahreem to hide out in. He tosses his Sewer Club and the rest of his Sewer Battle Gear to the floor of Miss Swimmer's humble abode, has a bite to eat, and walks back outside.
"Gonna get hot in there during the day",** he says, thinking aloud as he often does. "Perfect for an Argonian, but I might fry up in there."
As Kahreem leaves the dead Argonian's hovel, he opens his sack, picks out a couple watermelons, and places these fruits just outside of City Swimmer's door.
**Bravil and the Black Marsh area make me think of Maryland's hot summer days, for some reason. Top stories in houses get much hotter than basements or lower stories, and with no A/C in Cyrodiil, I feel for Kahreem, here. wink.gif
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
His first target of the evening is Kahreem's nearest neighbor. Might as well start close to home, right? The placard on the door identifies somebody named 'Ranaline' lives here. Kahreem break just one pick on her 2-tumbler door, and then eases his way inside. As he had suspected, there is not much to steal.
"Interesting reading material here..." Kahreem comments as he passes by the Mythic Dawn book on her bed.
He has heard rumors about the Mythic Dawn in the past; all bandits had. Stories about the Mythic Dawn made for interesting campfire tales while the ale (or Cheap Wine) flowed. Kahreem finds just one item of interest in Ranaline's place: a pair of leather gauntlets. He takes these, but does not bother to take anything else. He even leaves the meager 10 gold in one of her chests behind!
"No sense in robbing the poor girl goldless".
His next target should be more interesting, he thinks. But first, he returns to City Swimmer's place, and deposits the leather gauntlets he just stole. One thing nice about his new home: it also makes for a convenient place to quickly stash things (unlike his pirate boat).
...BONNNNG ... BONNNNG!!! ..... BONNNNG
The Weet Bandit walks casually by the chapel again, turns left, and makes his way towards a set of wooden stairs. He climbs one-and-a-half stories, and suddenly freezes.
GWOP! ... GWOP!...
"Somebody suckin' on some skooma!" he whispers.
He chances a creep and a peek: it's a young but balding white man, wearing rather fashionable red clothing. The man does not appear like your typical skooma addict (other than some faint bruising around his eyes), yet here he is in front of a skooma den. Kahreem smells the scent of the drug in the air, and tries to keep his heart calm.
"Go inside, fool!"
But the man stays outside. Every so often, he puts his skooma bottle away, and then has a couple looks over his shoulders, as if he is nervous. But within minutes, the urge to quaff once more become ovewhelming, and the well-dressed man can no longer fight this urge.
GWOP! .... GWOP!..
Kahreem gets impatient. He can't stay out here all night. He decides he'll come back to the skoooma den later on, and makes his way towards his next target of the evening.
I noticed that as the man hit his skooma over and over, he kept trying to enter the skooma den itself, but could not. He was apparently locked out!.. I know this because of the sound the door kept making as he tried to enter the place.
Morndas, 4:20 am
Bravil's castle interior gets right to the point, Kahreem notices as he enters the place. There is no grand hallway lined with multiple side entrances; instead one is faced immediately with the Count's throne as he enters castle Bravil, which is decorated tastefully in reds, oranges, and golds. The Weet Bandit wastes no time; the night will soon be over.
There are three display cases in the court, all of which are tough to pick. Kahreem breaks a couple lockpicks on one of these, and decides he needs to save the rest for later. He sneaks up a set of stone stairs.
"Morning!"
"He there!"
"How goes it?"
But unfortunately the upper area is lined with guards, and they all see him in his shirtless state.. ... After a moment, Kahreem hunches down and sneaks off to the side, anyways. Then he creeps slowly back towards a door marked Private Quarters, and waits until the guards seem not to notice him.
"Here goes. Wish me luck!"
A 1-tumbler lock. Piece of sweetcake. Before anyone knows it, the Weet Bandit makes his way inside Castle Bravil's proper area.
Poor Kahreem. Seems like he needs to practice more on both his lockpicking skill and sneak skill biggrin.gif
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
