my dad did that to my sister's bfs. He would clean his guns in front of them XD My husband and...one I don't talk about were the only two I ever brought around him. My dad brought his knife collection out for hubby. My husband was like "Is that a (blah blah blah) knife?" and I rolled my eyes and my dad was like "I like this guy!" XD

If you want the dad to approve of the boyfriend, make sure that have at least ONE shared interest

There was like thirty shared interests XD They liked the same movie types, same bands, knives (Which I had no idea about) they were both in bands, played instruments... I left my husband for a short while before we got married and my dad was so disappointed. He said "Man, I was really rooting for him." When he passed away I told my husband he had said that, and he got teary-eyed.

Sigh. Man I miss my dad.
