I had to help my neighbor do that. He saw a stray dog in a creek for a few days, finally stopped his car to see what was going on. It was alive, but had been hit by a car. He brought it home and was trying to save it, finally called me over to help.

We saved it all right. After not being able to wash out the ridiculous number of maggots in the wound I took the dog to my vet and paid for them to do it. The vet wanted to put it down, but I couldn't - it had so much fight in its eyes. So I paid, and it was high.

The dog lived, and a year later I was walking in my yard - it ran into my yard and bit me on the butt! Oh well, lol.

How does that stuff even happen to a puppy?! verysad.gif

Lol. What a nice way to say thanks laugh.gif

I know, it was a puppy when he found it - no more than 4-5 months old and like a collie/shepherd mix. That same dog ended up jumping my fence and impregnating my doberman, I think that is why he bit me - trying to get to her and thought I was in his way or something, lol.

That's DEFINITELY a nice way to say thanks XD

I know, that dog cost me more than any of my own dogs!

I don't blame the dog, I blame the neighbor for not training him right, and then letting him wander the neighborhood.

The dog is just acting on instincts.

The neighbor found the dog. When I couldn't save the dog and suggested the vet, the neighbor said he couldn't afford it. I payed because I couldn't stand doing nothing, and the dog was most def fighting for its life - 3 days in a creek and maggots eating it - it wasn't my dog to take, and I didn't want or need another dog, just couldn't stand to see it die. The neighbor said he wanted the dog if I'd pay to save it, so I did.

I have a conundrum. I have 2 tickets to ComicCon. I'm split over taking my friend who doesn't know much about ES but acts like he does and is generally a jackass, or my girlfriend, who's pretty awesome, but not into gaming at all, and tends to be kinda moody. Life at the Joisey Showa, wot?

Find a third friend who is into it and take them instead of either of the first two, lol.

Perhaps. Anyone else been watching Zemalf's Skyrim roleplay series? It's really almost cinematic.

I know. It was so beautiful a dog, just a puppy when it happened - and tough as nails to survive with those broken bones and open wounds/maggots eating it - and it was smart to get in the creek and keep it cleaned, the cold water kind of like an anesthetic - smart dog, and when they fight for their life like that, you just gotta help them if you can.

A year later he was a monster, because the neighbor didn't give him a lick of training and he was roaming the neighborhood.

Still, even knowing that now - if I had it to do over, I'd have made the same decisions; though maybe taken the dog and found a good home instead of giving it to the neighbor, lol.

Agreed. It was the sweetest dog when it was dying and we saved it, could have stayed sweet if done right. It lived a long life for a dog after that too, they still had it years later even after they moved.

Yeah, it really felt good every time I saw that dog and knew he wouldn't have been there if we'd have given up on him. (didn't feel good getting bit in the butt or having to give away a litter of mixed puppies on an AKC dog though, lol).

Today, I am going to try my first ever Vegetarian Sloppy Joe recipe.

Because we have a bag of lentils, and some manwich sauce. We also have five bags of pinto beans, and I have no idea how they got there. None of us bought them.
