Dispatch stole my thunder.

And my passion to post the secret attack this evening. Would've been off around 8pm PST, or 2000 as we call it. But, ended up with a 'voluntary' patient who is 'feeling depressed'. Walks, talks, eats, sleeps. Vitals are fine...why does this man need an ambulance?

"Uh...I don't know...Karen set up the transport..."

"I see...where is 'Karen' now?"

"Uhhhh." *Looks around* "Not here, right now."

Do I call this 20 year old man-child RN an idiot to his face and refuse the call, or risk the chance this 'patient' might actually need medical attention and lose my cert and job?

"Hop on, guy!"

"You feel suicidal?"

"Leetle beet."

"Fantastic! Roll tide!"

Bless his heart, he is probably lonely; and the EMT's are caring/talk to him/make him feel cared about and important for the duration of their ride to the ER. You performed a needed service for the poor little guy.

He was snoring within five minutes of the thirty six minute transport to 'closest appropriate facility 30.2 miles away!

Then for the hour and forty five minute wait it took me to tell a nurse: "He's cool. Voluntary. Can we go now?"

"Yeah, you're good."

She gave a mighty heave and flipped the hot tub on its side.
The murky water spewed a trail to the neighbors yards in a flood tide.

"Now when the sun comes up tomorrow,
those mosquito larvae will meet their sorrow.
For now that bleach will come in handy,
I'll clean this spa till it gleams...can you fetch me a brandy?
Just a sip to start me scrubbing;
on your spa I'll start my rubbing.
Afterwards you can fill it again,
And I'll take pictures from the bushes when you get in...BWAAHAA!"
