I didn´t plan it, it just so happened it crossed my mind. It´s this place I´ve been calling and visiting since the summer, so all I do now is say who I am and that I´m still interested. Then he says ok and we hang up

And the thought occured Mirocu, that with all this necromancy you've been up to, we could do with a Paladin to put a stop to it. I then remembered that while there is one around, he brings along a Wood Elf who shoots necomancers on sight, no questions asked.

I've just had a nice graphic reminder of why I'm spending more time here than over at Bethsoft: A Skyrim vs Oblivion thread, in the Oblivion section, my usual hangout over there.

It's not pretty.

Ugh. I don't really care for vs. Threads. They get heated quickly.

Yeah. Of course, over at Bethsoft there are still some of the Skyrim fans from it's release, the ones who'll blindly defend it to the death, even if they can be proved wrong.

Threads like that are just asking for trouble over there.

I don't see the point in such threads; I enjoy Skyrim more than I enjoy Oblivion, but it doesn't at all undermine my enjoyment of it if I other people prefer Oblivion. Why would it?

Vs threads can be fun, as long as people are civil.

Yes, that is unfortunately often the case. People get mad when someone points something out, whether it´s true or false, instead of just talking about it in a civil tone

True, but I personally think calling threads 'versus' invites antagonism simply because the word 'versus' is an inherently hostile one that implies a set winner. I'm purely theorising here, but I'm fairly confident that a thread called "Skyrim vs Oblivion" would turn hostile a lot quicker than "A Discussion of the Relative Merits of Skyrim and Oblivion".

As long as neither side implies that one game did something better than the other.

Once that happens all bets are off.

And even then, there are no guarantees.

Each game has pros and cons, and even those are relative per each individual. That's the danger of versus threads. It strips opinions and dresses them up as facts.
