Handwriting and the ability to read it are important skills that should be considered Major skills, not Minor or Misc skills!

I think it was hard to read because the text was rather small, rather than KoB's illiteracy. I certainly had to squint a lot.

KoB also has dyslexia. So for him to be able to read calligraphy script at all is a small feat of its own. Remember that next time you make a snide remark about someone's abilities to read something.

I didn´t make a snide remark on Kobby, I was rather commenting on how schools more and more take away learning handwriting and instead replace it with typing on a keyboard. It´s the same in Merica as well as in Sweden.

The way I read it sounded like you were taking a shot at him, and everyone knows that's a no-no. I will rip anyone a new one lol. Don't care who you are. And I still get that impression. But if you insist that's not what you meant, accept my apology.

Just to clarify again, I did not take a shot at him. Didn´t even remember he was dyslexic. If anything I took a shot at the education system and the turns it has taken. I don´t want anyone to think I was being an ass to Kobby. He´s my friend and I like him, as I do with everyone else here.

I think we simply saw a minor misunderstanding, for I would join Liz in condemning any swipes taken in snideness at Kobby. I read Kobby’s challenge as being that calligraphy is, in fact, harder to read than normal cursive or printed text and that the sample provided was quite small. Happily, Black Hand graciously provided both a larger sample as well as a printed transcript.

I read mirocu’s comment as not being directed toward Kobby at all, simply a lament for the gradual disappearance of cursive writing in general.

Just as we have never seen even a hint of snideness from Kobby in any of his +10K posts here, I have never seen a hint of snideness from any of mirocu’s +10K posts on the BethSoft forum or his +5K posts here. Although possible, I don’t think this knowledge shades my ‘glass half full’ / optimistic perception of this exchange.

Nevertheless, as Liz has wisely said more than once, emotion, motive and intent is hard to convey on a forum with short, quick-moving posts. I’m pleased to see that a bit of amplifying discussion brought some clarity.
