QUOTE(Colonel Mustard @ Nov 27 2013, 07:26 PM) This is completely unrelated to anything else posted on the thread but...
I feel inordinately proud of the fact that I went for a full-on makeout with a guy just to cockblock him. Just to furiously, unstoppably, magnificently cockblock him with a girl he really fancied but was a bit too drunk for her own good. And it was hilarious and wonderful and I am far too proud of the fact that my first kiss was done in order to completely screw somebody else over.
If KoB is the Chorrol Forums' Lord of Spam, I am the Chorrol Forums' King of the Trolls. You are all wonderful and I love you. Every single one of you.
*Kisses every active Chorrolite on the forehead and skips into the sunset giggling like a loon*
I have no words. -slow claps-

Troll on my friend, troll on. But you try and kiss me on the forehead again and it will mean war. You War-Whore!! I object to being called a War-Whore! Nobody pays me to go to war! NOBODY! Only since McBadgere disappeared. You're not my enemy, you're just practice QUOTE(Black Hand @ Nov 28 2013, 01:47 AM) This,...ironically....means WAR! With a capital WAR!
You'll have to forgive me for the lack of fear I'm feeling, but I've seen you dance to this tune before, if never for very long. I've not been impressed thus far.

Metaphorical years? Are they like dog years? And if we're working in metaphorical years, is today still my birthday? QUOTE(Black Hand @ Nov 28 2013, 02:40 AM) ....we attack at dawn. My dawn...not your British Dawn...the sun; it would seem, does set on the British Empire.

VHS... I remember those. They only have one redeeming feature nowadays: All the DVD versions of Star Wars: A New Hope are the remastered ones, where Greedo shoots first. This is why I don't have the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD. Han shot first.

Han shot first because he knew Greedo was gonna either kill him or take him to Jabba alive, both options unacceptable. I have the trilogy on VHS and that bullshit isnt there! VHS is superior to DVD on so many levels. You can fast forward anywhere you want which means you never have to endure commercials or DANGER!! notices. Also you can stop the movie anywhere, take it out and store it on a shelf for years (why you would do that is beyond my point) and when you pop it back in you continue exactly where you left off. Not to mention, VHS handles damage so much better than DVD because when that gets even one tiny scratch, the disc is practically ruined while the VHS just flicker and moves past the problem whitout stuttering or shutting down. And dont feed me that crap that the technology is old, like anything it can be improved. The latter NES games had almost Super Nintendo qualities while the first (and many others) almost looked like Atari games. My point is, you can improve something if you want to instead of scrapping the system for another. Not forever of course, but better VCRs can also be made. VHS FTW!!!! I still can't believe that Lucas thought it remotely believeable that a bounty hunter, who was obviously good enough to make Han nervous, could miss a stationary target from three feet away. Madness. Yeah, I'll grant you, all the [censored] about piracy and such can be a pain, though you can usually skip the adverts with the menu button. And I only watch DVDs on my 360 since my DVD player doesn't like HD720p. The upside of this is that if I'm watching a film, and have to stop for some reason, if I put the disc back in later, as long as I haven't put another DVD in in the meantime, it'll resume from where I was. As for handling damage, I can't really say one's better than the other. Fast forwarding, rewinding, and pausing weren't good for the tapes, so just watching them was bad for them. But DVDs are unpredictable when it comes to how much damage they can take before they stop working. And I wasn't going to. I've currently got a 3DS, so I'm still playing games that come on cartridges, so I know that technology can be updated and improved. And since I've been using Nintendo handhelds since the GameBoy Pocket, I've literally watched Nintendo do just that.

Just going to throw Blade Runner out there; original version had a rubbish ending and the remastered director's cut gave us a way better movie. It also came with an expanded version of Vangelis' soundtrack, which was absolutely superb. In any case, while this may be a generational thing I really don't get all the fuss about Star Wars (specifically the original trilogy). They're not bad movies, by and large, but they hardly seem worthy of the near-messianic status modern pop culture affords them. Leaves me wondering how much of it is based on the actual merit of the film and how much of it is the films being viewed by lenses so rose-tinted they're blinding.

I cant go past the DANGER!!! and all the bullshit menus, all I get when trying is that red circle with a bar. Tapes can be made better and I still have many tapes from 20 years ago that I can still watch in good quality. I dont want the super HD quality anyway, it hurts my eyes VHS was a good thing and could be made much, much better if there wasnt such a rush in getting everything digital. Makes me wonder what hidden agendas they have with that. I have my ideas though, remember when they scared people with the fake marsian attacks on the radio back in the 30s or whenever? I feel that was just a test run. Nuff said

Sorry. Gotta disagree with you Mirocu. There's a reason VHS is extinct and it is because DVD is superior in nearly every way. As long as they're maintained they have a longer lifespan than VHS tapes, which degrade over time and wear out from normal use. CD's last a looooong time if you don't play Frisbee with them.
DVD's have a clearer picture, scene selection that lets you skip forward in increments instead of waiting for the player to slowly move forward, no need to rewind, and of course they're lighter and more compact.
There's a part of me that misses VHS tapes but then I watch a movie that doesn't have dots all over the screen as it plays and I can remember why I've embraced technology.
