Well, I took the plunge... I now own FO3! I'm kinda just getting a feel for the game again ATM so I've got a test character purely to play a couple of the quests. However, saying this, I've already got me perma-character all planned out. She is called Dylan Bowcross (A bit of a mouthfull ) and her origins are that of the linear storyline. However, she is a lot less rebelaious than the game INSISTS the Lone Wanderer is. She will be in traiing to be a doctor under her fathers guidence before the whole drama of the vault forces her to leave. She will use a submachine gun and her skills will be Small guns and Medicine... haven't decided on a third yet. She is inspired by one of my most favourite post-apocalype heroines from my favourite movie, but despite this she is very different. I'll u[pdate more once I've finished my current breif playthrough haha

Personally, I think the Dunwich is proper scary...I think I've been in twice; one with the ghoul mask and one without...I'm not sure it wasn't scarier when I didn't have to fight my way through... That bit where the lighting changed and the hallucination happens...Scared the crap out of me the first time... ... As I'm easily led with these things, daughter is playing New Vegas at the mo...So I fired up the old FO3 save... I appear to be just south of Oasis and am exploring/selling the detritus I pick up (having shot the crap out of any raiders/Talon that get in Arnaud's face) on the way... I managed to find that dude that begins The Pitt DLC thing...I didn't want to do it, and it wouldn't let me back out of the convo...I switched it off...Hopefully my save isn't too far back from that...I can't remember... ...

What I find creepy about the Dunwich Building is that the lighting is a lot lower than other places, combined with the sounds of the ferals hissing and growling the darkness. Then you hear the pat-pat-pat of their running feet, and a misshapen head leaps out of the darkness to bite you. For me, the Feral Ghouls are the creepiest monsters Bethesda has ever made. Not even so much for what they look like, but for what they sound like when you can't see them, but know they are out there.
Combine that with the sad story of Jaime searching for his father, only to find him turned into a ghoul. Then when he is going to leave, you can feel how the book - "It's warm against the stone" - keeps him there, and his voice changes to a ghoul's in his final recording.

I had a Wow moment earlier... We went into D.C. proper and found a load of stuff around the Georgetown area...Killed a load of Super Mutant Overlords...Awesome!!... But then we found a townhouse...Apparently owned by "the McClellans"... Went in, found a deactivated Mr Handy, activated it...As you do...And one of the options you can take is, "Read a poem to the children."... And, as all the other options looked likely to result in a fight or something...I chose the poem one... So I followed it to the kids' room...Whereupon the Mr Handy proceeded to read the poem, " There Will Come Soft Rains." to a skeleton holding a teddy bear... Fair dues...There's not often I'm actually moved by a computer game...But that was pretty damned heavy (an poignant) moment after spending the proceeding hour or so doing the simple "Blowing the crap out of things and collecting the stuff"...Y'know?... After how long of playing this game, I'm pleased that it can still throw a proper awesome surprise at me...

Thanks for reminding me about that place. Now I remember what happened there QUOTE(McBadgere @ Mar 22 2014, 07:48 PM) I had a Wow moment earlier...

I chose "Go to the market" or something which got it destroyed. Wish I had chosen the poem too

I can't remember if this one is my second or third Arnaud...I know this is the first one to do the main quest and Broken Steel... Anyways, we're halfway through level 29, so that's going to be interesting to actually get to the level cap... He's 100 on guns, medicine, lockpick and science...Oh, and repair... The others are not essential...I might get sneak up to 100 on the next - and final - level up...But it's not exactly like he's particularly troubled by much anymore... ... We've been ambling about the Metro in D.C...Y'know, get out of station, go find the stuff around about (including "Dungeon crawl" ) and then go back into station to continue to next bit...Much fun...Though there's far too many Super Mutant Overlords these days...Oh and Sentry-Bots...Not exactly difficult...But they far too stubbornly cling to life, y'know?... ... I can't see me starting again for a good long while... And, having watched the Daughter (and now the Boy too) play New Vegas, I can't see me ever starting on that ever again...There's just too many damned quests... ...
