McB- Ah, Black Rock Caverns, great fun, the first time round at any rate. Once you've been there once though there's not really any reason to go back.



Tarvyn is currently at the Wawnet Inn, and it is the morning of the fourth day since he set out from Bravil. The first day had been spent crawling through Charcoal Cave, and the second had been spent in the Inn of Ill Omen recovering from it. On the third day Tarvyn was faced with yet another storm, which forced him to dive into Horn Cave for shelter.

He found Horn Cave a far more comfortable test of his abilities, the residents providing more practice than peril. He's swapped out his open spell for a light on target spell he'd picked up in Bravil, and found it more useful. He's also getting better at hunting using detect life, either because he's getting a better feel for his surroundings, or because he was simply killing everything with a single stealthed shot

It was still raining when he left, and night had fallen. He pushed on toward the Imperial City anyway, impatient and a little annoyed that the simple task he had left Bravil for had not even been started. The only thing that distracted him along the road was the Tower Stone, which he's rather glad to have encountered, though he has no idea what it actually is...

Yay, a visit to Buffy Falls Black Rock Caverns!


Yup. That's my theory as to why all those generic foes attack with such wild abandon - even when outmatched and outgunned. They know that if when they get killed, they'll be back, good as new, in three days.

After briefly enjoying dinner and a stroll under the moons with Lothran at Pells Gate, the two elves parted ways. Buffy headed south for an uneventful trip to Bravil. After a day to visit with Daenlin and her Bravilian guild mates, restock supplies, make poisons and sell some gems and scrolls, she continued south toward Leyawiin.

It's raining, of course. Buffy's able to stuff her hair into her forest green elven hat (the one that doesn't cover her big ears). That keeps her hair (mostly) dry. She also simply loves the bound outfit of leaves and vines that one of her spriggan sisters taught her. As long as it's a warm rain, she's pretty happy in it.

It’s unusual to see Jerric with a quill in his hand and actually using it for writing.

Good luck to Tharryn completing his Ebony collection! My first character was a collector. I had a clipboard with what she was looking for in a chart. Whatever keeps them diving back into dungeons!

While it rains in Cyrodiil, it pours sand just across the border. Here’s a letter from Lil and Jerric. The details of their game are in there, I promise.


Dearest Buffy and Dearest Aravi,


I hope you each had a lovely birthday! Jerric and I spent Rain’s Hand the 19th sheltering from a sandstorm at a temple in the Ne Quin-al Desert. All of our ale was consumed in toasting your good health and the memories of happy times we’ve shared. We may have gone over some of the same memories more than once. I’ll admit the ale was much stronger than I anticipated.

We have just reached Fort Seaplace and the Legion soldiers stationed here into whose good hands we will place our fond birthday wishes. The Quartermaster bought our trade goods but offered no supplies in return. I’m not concerned. No one with either a bow or a Nord should go hungry in the desert, and we have both.

One of the legionnaires here offered to magically capture an image to send along with our birthday greetings. We were to pose together on the wall overlooking the Imperial City and Skingrad, but of course Jerric is Jerric. The result is enclosed.

I hope one day soon we may all share an evening together. Until that time may you walk on warm sands, dear friends.

It was wonderful to hear of your expedition to Elsweyr and I loved the picture! Lil, your buckskins, bow, amulet and hair all look fabulous. Jerric, I’m so pleased to see you still carrying your Wolf of Kvatch. Between the steel and arrows you pack between the two of you, I know your travels will be safe.

Thanks! Aravi doesn't know exactly when she was born - spending one's early life as a slave in Morrowind can do that. When Buffy learned that, she offered to share her birthday with Aravi. The two have been 'birthday sisters' ever since.

Because of Reasons, Tharryn has (now) a house in Cheydinhal...Which is nice...My fave in the game...So yeah, house, many empty bookshelves...So I buys a load in Mach-Na's shop...As you do...Put them on the shelves...Urgh... ...

Nordy-Boy had sooo many books in loads of the houses...I know the Bruma house - his "Home" - was chocked full of them, all over the place...All neatly stacked and everything...Gods only knows where I had the patience to do that!...I certainly don't possess that level any more, that's for sure... ...

So now we're back on the road again...Cue song...Aaaat...Nonwyll Cave, is it?...North of Chorrol-ish...Much fun in a Troll-y stylee...Well, so far anyways...

There's a door marked Hall of the Titans...No idea what's behind it, but it sounds mightily impressive...*Applauds*... ...

Tarvyn is still at the Wawnet Inn. He's gotten what he came to the Imperial City for, and done some shopping, but has been prevented from returning to Bravil by another of the thunderstorms that seem to blight Cyrodiil so badly.

It's getting ridiculous frankly. If this keeps up I'll be changing the title of his thread to "Caught in the Rain"

I've not noticed the rain so much at all...I mean, yeah...Now and again, but when I stop to do some sightseeing, it's all glorious and awesome... ...

Aaaaamywho...Found out what was in the Cavern of the Titans™...Not hall, as I first thought...Trolls, Ogres and a Savage Minatour!!!...

Sold the swag...Now thinking of continuing towards the Ayelid ruin that appeared on the compass as I exited the cave...No idea what it is though...

Now, I have a couple days worth of updates in my computer as Jessie and Lissa continue their annual Dungeon Blitz, but I have some sad news from Lissa's world which I must share immediately.
After the Blitz was over Lissa and Jessie headed back to Anvil. Jessie wanted to spend the weekend with Lissa.

On the way to Anvil Lissa decided to pop up to the camp outside Kvatch to visit her mother and see how reconstruction of the city was going. but it seems Lissa got their too late.

What awaited Lissa when she arrived at the camp was the news that her mother, Oleta along with two others had perished during the night. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but they can only assume bandits were involved. Ironic, how they survived the Kvatch disaster only to be bested by mere, pathetic bandits.

Lissa returned to Maelona shortly after. They are currently planning a send off for their mother, which I expect will be beautiful. They feel that the send off should be in Anvil, where Oleta spent most of her life in Cyrodiil. They are certain that plenty of people will come to show their respects. It truly is a sad day for the Cristenn kin.

Obviously Lissa is taking this news hard, but as we all know she is incredibly strong and she has found a silver lining in such a tragic event. She had been meaning to increase her knowledge of magicka but didn't have the confidence to try out for the Arcane University. She has now decided that, in her mothers honour, she will at least attempt to get into the university. Although she is good with basic magicks, she hopes that with enough practice and training she will gain the skills needed to use the more powerful spells**. She wants to focus on learning about defensive magick rather than offensive (Although Ironically for her, she is quite taken with frost spells), such as normal and elemental shield spells, summoning protective creatures and some illusive spells for sneaking. She is aware that she has been quite reckless with her adventuring recently, diving headfirst into battle with little protection being one example, so she hopes that knowing some defensive magick will prove very useful. She knows she will never become a powerful or even a high ranking mage (Although she does want to reach a high restoration rank for certain), but she at least hopes the university can teach her to be the best she can be; just what her mother would want for her.

(I will return to telling of the Blitz as there truly are some fun adventures I want to share, but for now I think I should focus on the passing.)

*This is a genuine mystery. Lissa and Jessie arrived to find Oleta dead, which was quite odd as there was no indication whatsoever as to how or why. I concluded it was a small bug, somehow, maybe one that spawned a bad guy I'm not sure. However, I feel that Oleta's death was necessary, somehow, like it was meant to happen in order for Lissa to move onto the next stage of her life. This is the second year of Lissa's game (although I had to cheat with the time span when I moved onto PC). I don't think I will ever be 'done' with Lissa, but I am certain that, although I don't know what, there is something big waiting for her, whether it happen tonight or a couple of years from now. Only time will tell.

*My personal rules for magic are simple. Each time Lissa gains goes up a rank in a field I give her 50 more Magicka via the console. Currently she is an apprentice in Restoration, conjuration and illusion and had 322 MP (Some of which is added by a fortify intelligence ring she wears). As she increases ranks she will gradually earn MP, intelligence and willpower; although that doesn't mean she will have enough to cast the higher level spells, which I think is great because my rules cap how powerful a mage she can be. We only want to learn apprentice/journeyman level spells.

McB – Ah, the joys of home decorating! I agree that the Cheydinhal house is really nice – love the Tudor style.

CT – Tar-Caught in the Rain-vyn is certainly having bad luck with the weather! Sounds like a trip to the Gold Coast for some (hopefully) sunshine?

Rihanae – Aww, so sorry to hear about Oleta. Because there’s no ‘immigration’ into Cyrodiil, I often resurrect and ‘essentialize’ most named NPCs just to prevent population attrition. That’s a real concern given how long Buffy’s game is. Yet sometimes you just gotta go with a death when it feels as if it were meant to be. I recall we let City Swimmer’s death stand. I know Lissa will emerge stronger for this and you and she are right to listen to her inner voice.

Buffy's just west of Skingrad, generally dungeon clearing her way along the road to Kvatch and on to Anvil. Why? Because she can. And she wants to see the sun set into the Abecean.

Tarvyn is back again at the Wawnet Inn, having just gone for a wander into Fort Nikel. That place is just funny, but this time was weirder than I've seen it. The bandits and marauders were all jumbled around, and the fight was triggered by the stealthy assassination of the marauder who wasn't locked down with the others

And there wasn't even anything there worth fighting over
