I take it then that the superbowl didn't live up to it's name then? However, there is one upside to the superbowl. It means I have an excuse to post this quote: I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby. Because Rupert Giles is too damn funny This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Feb 2 2015, 09:39 AM

QUOTE(McBadgere @ Feb 2 2015, 01:02 PM) "American" Football is not rugby...Its origins lie in rugby, granted...But it hasn't been rugby for so long that the cliché "It's just rugby with padding because the Americans are sissies.." is just so completely wrong it's just funny...In the way it isn't in the slightest...
That's pretty much the joke. I mean, that is a quote from an American show, said by a Brit. And it's Giles, the epitome of everything British in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A stereotype throwing out cliches.

QUOTE(McBadgere @ Feb 2 2015, 01:02 PM) Well, the instant the teams facing the Seahawks and Patriots failed to stop them, I lost any and all interest in the game, let alone the Superbowl...I'll come back to it in eight years, just like I did when Brett Farve and the Green Bay Packers started dominating back in the day...

Everyone knows that the sport for real men is duelling to the death in gladiatorial combat.

For the last few days all i've heard is people piling on Pete Carroll because he called for the right play on the goal line. The slant was open, but because the Patriots are so good at stealing signs their rookie cornerback jumped the route like he knew it was coming… because he did. QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Feb 3 2015, 05:59 AM) LOKI'S TWISTED SCROTUM!!!!! Probably what would happen if Loki tried American football without padding!

QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Feb 3 2015, 05:59 AM) LOKI'S TWISTED SCROTUM!!!!! Probably what would happen if Loki tried American football without padding! He has a history of plowing through defense like it isn't there, and no history of passing under pressure. I still say Bad call. (But it was not the only mistake Seattle made, they fumbled all through the second half. That one miracle catch was the best of them, it came after two sloppy fumbles and throws; but it was bone-chilling it was such a miracle. From that point on they slowly disintegrated. I think they had seen "Angels in the Outfield" one too many times and when they saw that miracle catch they thought it proof God was on their side and thought that meant they didn't even have to try and they would win.
