Ben is raiding the Air base now. I had a funny moment happen before. Ben was shooting at one of those turrent things on the roof when the Mysterious Stranger decided to help out. He appeared on the edge of the roof gutter 100 feet up and destroyed the turrent for me. Then he half fell off the edge and started to free-fall when he finished his animation and disappeared!

It's a good thing the stranger has that Vortex Manipulator! laugh.gif

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Mar 20 2015, 07:27 PM) *

For the most part Hecate has been doing Moira's quests these last few days. In the one that took her to Rivet City, she stopped by the Science Lab and talked to Dr. Li (and picked up the Intelligence bobblehead). Since Dr. Li has seen Dad and said he had gone to the Jeff Memorial, Hecate went there afterward and cleared out all the muties. Dad's tapes said he was off looking for Dr. Braun somewhere in the west. This is all without talking to Moriarity in Megaton, or with Three Dog at GNR.

So just a little while ago Hecate is in the DC Ruins and comes to Chevy Chase for the first time. You know, where always meet Sarah Lyons? Well she and the Lyon's Pride were nowhere to be found. Instead Hecate took on all the mutants on her own. Even when she got to GNR there was no sign of Lyons. The behemoth did show up, and he was lot tougher, since that dead BOSer with the Fat Man was not there (I guess he must spawn with Lyons).

When Hecate went to talk to Three Dog, he didn't try to hold Dad's location over her to get Hecate to get the dish. Instead he bargained with the location of a secret pre-war cache (Hamilton's Hideaway). That was interesting, I never had it happen that way. I had never been to the Jeff Memorial before talking to Three-Dog, so obviously his dialogue is dependent upon the status of the quests. I wonder if Sarah Lyons wasn't there because I had been to the Jeff as well, and had advanced Scientific Pursuits (the quest to search for Dad)?

The BoS not showing up is known glitch; I'm not sure if it has something to do with the order you come to the GNR or not; but I've had it happen to me except the dead BoS was there but no Fatman.

If you've been to Rivet City before talking to him, and/or talked to Dr. Li; then you already have the knowledge he would have bargained with you for. So instead he reverts to his secret weapons cache. (and going to Rivet City first might be what caused the glitch of the BoS not showing up).

Either way, I welcome that weapons cache rather than some info on Dad; since this isn't my first time around and I know where Dad is, laugh.gif

I had a weird thing happen with Misa hunting the Enclave camps the last time I played - got to one of the camps and found the Enclave guy in his underwear - period. I really wish I'd gotten a screen of it; but he started attacking before I thought of it. When he was dead he had absolutely NOTHING on him!

So anyway, there was supposed to be three Enclave there, so I was looking around the area for them and saw a fully dressed in Enclave armor person, so shot them. Imagine my surprise when I go to loot the guy and it is a Raider!

I didn't think to take a picture of the naked Enclave before killing him; but I did get the shot of the Raider in the Enclave - that was probably one of the coolest glitches I've ever seen; how real was that !!!

I'll post the screenshot of the Raider in Enclave armor on the screens thread.

Ben has now hit 300 hours and is officially in semi-retirement. He has finished Broken Steel and got his hands on Callahan's Magnum. Woo Hoo! The gun really rocks but I can feel that its durability is slightly worse than the other handguns. Still, it is so cool to finally have it.

The Citadel has seen better days and Ben does apologize for any inconvenience. Lol.

He is still trying to work out Agatha's Station though. Switching on last night he heard Agatha talking all loving and glowing about the travelling salesman, Crow, and how he is now her 'love' and keeping her bed warm at night. What? When did this happen? Have I been working hard at destroying the world while she has been working to bring harmony back to it?

And I thought she was loyal to the memory of her late husband. It just goes to show you cannot believe anybody. laugh.gif

I am back on Oblivion now (with my brand new Dunmer) and plan to play that until around August.

Vortex Manipulator! That is exactly how it happened. Thanks for explaining that! laugh.gif

Naked Enclave attacking mALX. Now that does make me laugh. laugh.gif Are you sure he wasn't a jealous lover of Agatha that went AWOL?

You blew up the Citadel! ohmy.gif For shame! nono.gif

I have never had a character who did that. Though granted I think Anty was the only one to ever finish the Broken Steel dlc. What does it look like after you bomb it?

Funny thing, I am making the slow switch from Skyrim to Fallout 3. huh.gif I will play FO3 until mid-fall, most likely. Oblivion, on the other hand, is a year-round game for me, pretty much.

Why are you switching to Oblivion? Just curious. For me, it's a seasonal thing.

Porter Waggoner is the one that gave Dolly Parton her start in the business. He managed her career for her first seven years, and they did several songs together.

@ Winter Wolf - Is that the gun hidden on the table off the map behind the mountain that you have to scale? (Behind Liberty Prime's head or something)? Oh no, that one was a Beta Teasla Cannon.

Man it took me like 87 cursing filled tries to get that before I figured out a formula of where to aim/rest/and save to make it to the top, but once up there I used that gun on every tough enemy, including tagging helicopters with it. Great Awesome gun!

(And will probably be much much easier to get on the PC !!!)

Oh, okay I looked it up - it says it is much better than Blackhawk! Hmmm, I'd still have to console it, not sure I could blow up the Citadel, lol.

On Agatha - yeah, after all the stories she gives you about devotion to her husband that you fall for and come to her rescue braving mirelurks to retrieve that Soil Strad for her; then the sheet music - she was playing the Player like a violin, while Crow was playing her like a fiddle ... either way, the mind boggles at the image, lol.

But yeah, that is why the caravan stops by there for one house instead of a town, laugh.gif

It is actually really cool! The vertibird lands and you hop out. A Brotherhood Steel guy comes up and screams, 'You, you did this!' You reply, 'Who me? I never did nothing!' After a gun fight there you can explore the building. Smoke is pouring out and embers are drifting down like fireflies. It is epic! The courtyard inside is gone and a bomb crater goes down several levels. Opening a door at the bottom of the ruins you can enter a sub-basement. The gun is inside a wall safe beside a desk. As you enter there is a Nuka Cola machine to your right. Slamming the back of your fist on it the Cola falls out and you wash away your thirst.

Very badass! Oh, and Ben is now currently in hiding from Molly. Please do not give away my location. laugh.gif

I am one of those people who have played Beth games since 05 and yet never had a high level character on any of them. I love starting new builds and just experimenting. This time I am forcing myself to enjoy high level characters.

So, I decided to do Fallout 3 first, as it has the lowest maximum level I will use, and then increase it with every game.
Fallout 3- level 30
Oblivion- level 35-40
NV- level 50
Skyrim level 70ish

Will take me about 2 years.

I am really loving Oblivion. Wow, green grass and rain. I forgot how long it has been without it. I danced around in the dark while getting really wet. The Imperial legion looked at me very strangely. Lol.

Knowing how much you love the Blackhawk do make sure that you grab with console. It is a blast!

And you are so right about Agatha. The mind boggles...

Hecate finished up the Wasteland Survival Guide today. She went the snide route, so it gives a bonus to critical hits (she is a sniper after all). In the process she also got Galaxy Blues Radio back on the airwaves. On the way back from Robco (the final Moira quest), she stopped by Hamilton's Hideaway to use Three-Dog's cache key. There was more loot than she could carry back, including a suit of powered armor. Not that she can wear it of course.

Next I think Hecate might be off to the vault with the Charisma bobblehead. She needs one more point in it to be able to take the Animal Friend perk. She is getting tired of having to kill dogs, so she wants to learn that one. There are a number of bobbleheads in that neck of the map, so she might swing by the Republic of Dave, National Guard Armory, and Greener Pastures Disposal site too.

This is the very first game I've ever taken the Animal Friend perk, and I am Loving it! I noticed an immediate difference, especially since taking the second rank in it.

I think that is why the modified Deathclaws are attacking the Enclave first, because in all my previous games they only came after me no matter how many Enclave were around - all except that one in Raven Rock; and that one did attack them.

When I went through the Casey garage, the molerats didn't attack me or Daddy James, like because he was on my side so were they. Raiders and Enclave though - they are getting besieged by animal attacks if I sneak near them - it is a ball to watch!

The only thing that bothers me is that the Yao gao's (spelling?) are not attacking, which makes it hard to justify killing them for their great meat which I eat a LOT of.

Mirelurks still attack, I also eat their meat so don't mind killing them. Just hate to kill a friendly yao gao.

Well, Misa has been a sniper too; but since Molly made it through with an axe I have considered letting Misa do Raven Rock with just Fisto, since it is all people to fight in there - kind of make it a little more challenging since she is at level 29 now.

Oh, I wondered if anyone knows - do I have to wait to do Broken Steel till after I die in the main quest or does your character just automatically survive it?

With Broken Steel installed and active, you don't die at the end of the main quest. Instead you fall down unconscious instead of dead. I think you still get the whole clip show of what you did with Ron Perlman narrating as you normally would. Then you wake up back at the Citadel two weeks later. The BS quests start right after that, taking the fight to the Enclave.

Animal Friend is one perk I have never taken in the game. I think I've had level 1, but never level 2.
I must give that a go sometime. A melee build and Animal Friend. smile.gif

And yes you just pass out unconscious now once the explosion takes place.

Animal Friend (or something like it) would make so much sense in Elder Scrolls games, in which it would actually fit lore-wise with certain characters and races. Thank goodness for mods.

Congrads to Hectate. I am enjoying the Wasteland Survival Guide quests. Finally figured out the mirelurk quest yesterday. Cho had to use some stealthboy for that one!

Hey. It's Cho again. Cho Zen-Wahn. Break.

Tonight I am hiding out in a place called Farragut West Station. I am with a friend named Marge. Marge N. Overra. She also got kicked out of Vault 101. Marge is good with computers, and medical stuff. So am I, but I'm not nearly as good as she is. Anyway, Marge has joined me. She's asleep. We're both on our way to that quote / unquote mirelurk breeding place, or whatever the [censored]. Break.

Marge says one of the others will join us tomorrow. Joe King is his name. I said to Margie quote / unquote dammit, why does he have to come along? Joe will ruin everything! But Marge assures me that he will stay under control. Especially his drinking. He'll be toning it down, she promises. Whatever. I say he should stay behind in Megaton, but who am I to judge and dictate? I'm certainly no overseer, that's for sure. Break.

Got attacked earlier by some raiders. Who the [censored] else? Raiders suck. I got wounded a bit, and so did she. We were forced to run and hide into this quote / unquote subway depot. It's safe here. Nobody has been back here, since we rid the place of rabid ghouls, and mole rats. We've got some supplies here, and a cot to heal up on. And a computer, where I'll be uploading the bulk of this information from my Pipboy app. Looks like the app is working, though it needs some tweaking. Like when I say quote / unquote, I want it to make [censored] quotes, not spell the actual words out. Ahh. Margie can figure that one out. Break.

We've got some more supplies across the river. Place called Super Duper Mart, in one of its Nuka Cola machines. All kinds of ammo, guns, bombs, you name it. Again, nobody has returned to reclaim that place, so our gear is safe. Break.

Apparently, long ago there were thousands of Super Duper Marts all across America. Gigantic places where people could go to buy tons of food. Enormous places, some the size of small villages. Now, it's just full of dead raiders, tin cans, discarded rubbish. America must have been a great place, long ago. Break.

Need my rest. I told Marge I'd wake her, in a couple hours. We'll trade shifts, keeping guard. But I'm getting sleepy just sitting in this chair.

Pipboy recording app off. Date: 09.15.77 10:01

Does this happen to be the safe in the armory on the ground floor where Liberty Prime used to be - the armory that the player is barred out of and always has a girl repairing and selling within feet of the safe? Because if it is, I have sneaked into that armory and safe and emptied it out with the girl right there - on the 360, using a Stealthboy (had to). But is that the same safe or is it a different one only accessible by the bolmbing?

@ SubRosa and Winter Wolf - Okay, thanks for the info on how to start BoS - really didn't remember, and I came across that tunnel when I went to the Last Chance Camp; and didn't want to go in because I was afraid it would jump-start the questline.

No, the area with the gun is a new location that can only be accessed from the bombing of the Citadel. It is totally different from the early area where that girl and safe are. This one looks more like the interior cell of one of the office buildings. It has Nuka machine, stairs and a heap of desks and cabinets.

Low Quality but shows it here

You are safe with the Tunnel at Rockland. It cannot be accessed before the quest starts (Death from Above) unless you use console.

Oh, that is good to know. I do like sneaking through places before the quest is going on because in some of them you are rushed too much to loot while the quest is running - but in Fallout 3 doing that will net you skipped quests/questline jumpstarts/and inadvertent quest completions.

Hm, now you've made me wonder if I can toggle clipping and go underground there and find it (although it is probably marked as "initially disabled so I probably won't find anything there).

Gaaaaah, that vid makes me want to do it just to explore a new place I haven't seen, lol.

Wow, that is one big crater inside the Citadel! I am surprised you can get back out again. Unless it is by fast travel.

Yesterday Hecate headed east, and explored the northern edge of the DC Ruins. She tackled the National Guard Depot, and got the bobblehead for small guns. She also knocked off Rock Creek Caverns, and for good measure the Vault with the all Garys in it (108?). That netted her the Charisma bobblehead as well. So now the next time she levels up she should be able to take the first rank in Animal Friend.

Yup, Witchcraft and Forest Friend Amulet. I got 'em both for Lady Saga's game. smile.gif Best thing to happen to her, since she is Bosmer, she's supposed to have some animals be neutral to her. I like these two mods because they affect a lot of vanilla creatures, but do not affect MMM and other mods, so there's this variety in animal behavior that makes Cyrodiil feel not 90% aggressive, like the vanilla game is.

What a great shot !!! And the clothing, what clothing is that? Awesome shot !!

Thatnks! That's just a digicam shot, his game is on Xbox, you see. I'm having great fun with Fallout 3. I think he's wearing Talon Combat armor lately. He wore Vault 101 armor up until recently, but he thinks that this gear makes him stand out too much, so he switched to Talon.

Wow, that is one big crater inside the Citadel! I am surprised you can get back out again. Unless it is by fast travel.

I love seeing that crater in HD. It looks awesome! All that practice shooting and push-ups amounted to nothing after Ben came along!

What actually happens (that wasn't shown on the vid) is that you can enter at the bottom of the crater but exit at the top. On the video he just exited from the same door, but if you explore the location completely you go pass the armory cells and jump to the level above. Finding a set of stairs you can continue up into the building and come across an exit door. Leaving it you find yourself higher than the crater.

Ahh, the Garys. Wow, that is some crazy memories. First time I couldn't work out what was going on. But the Terrible Shotgun certainly did!

Gaaaaah, that vid makes me want to do it just to explore a new place I haven't seen, lol.

It is worth doing it mALX, just save before you touch the computer then reload the save after if you are playing a good character! And role play that those berry mentats had been laced by somebody. Lol.
