QUOTE(mALX @ Jul 1 2015, 05:15 PM) Acadian lives in the hundreds (F) all the time - and that is when it is shady! (He lives in the desert) *Faints* I don't do high temperatures. I like the cold.

(He lives in the desert) *Faints* I don't do high temperatures. I like the cold. I used to live in Miami - when you live in that kind of climate your body adjusts itself for survival. Your blood thins out. Then if you move to a milder climate you freeze for the first year if it gets below 80, lol.

QUOTE(hazmick @ Jul 1 2015, 10:22 PM) Bloomin' heatwave. I hate any weather which forces me to wear a t-shirt without a jumper.
I'm with you on that QUOTE(hazmick @ Jul 1 2015, 10:22 PM) We just had a thunder storm though so everything's a bit cooler now. Lucky you. We're still stuck with thick air and too much heat down here in the southeast QUOTE(hazmick @ Jul 1 2015, 10:22 PM) Apparently today was the hottest July day ever, which hopefully means it'll only get colder from here on in, right? I'm seriously hoping so Edit: Urgh. It should not be 28.5 degrees at 11pm This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Jul 1 2015, 11:17 PM

It's England. We're not supposed to get these sorts of temperatures. We;re supposed to get lots of overcast skies, rain, and a severe shortage of sunny weather. And we invented complaining This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Jul 1 2015, 11:43 PM

It's probably easier once you're used to it. As it stands, loads of people have been admitted to hospital with heatstroke, a lorry transporting batteries caught fire on the motorway, and bin collection has been cancelled in some places because the heat is frying circuit boards in bin lorries On a personal note, this dry air is playing havoc with my asthma. The lightning outside my window looks pretty though UPDATE: We have the hailstones we were warned about, averaging 1cm in size. Now I know how the Titanic felt. QUOTE(Elisabeth Hollow @ Jul 1 2015, 11:23 PM) Y'all complaining about how it's hot but it's 35 C here in Texas in the shade after the rain lol
And here I am walking around Bruma with the snow falling while the Melbourne winter outside my house sits at 10° C and we have the heater on.

Matching jacket! Come on you are only sleeping! Although it is handy if you have to flee a burning house. At least the fire brigade will be impressed by the coordinated outfit.

It is the warmest and softest on the inside, lol. Had to grab both pieces first or I would have had to claw them away from my husband,

QUOTE(mALX @ Jul 3 2015, 06:08 PM) It is 72 (F) today. which is fine - but it is pouring rain. *Sighs* I wouldn't mind some weather like that. We've had too much sun here, and one wall of the house catches it all day long. Damn thing turns into a space heater Edit: And now we've got a pretty heavy-duty thunderstorm kicking off, or possibly two in opposite directions. I wouldn't say it's raining, it's more like the tide's coming in. This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Jul 4 2015, 12:02 AM

We've had too much sun here, and one wall of the house catches it all day long. Damn thing turns into a space heater You need an extended porch roof on that side with hanging plants or a row of Boxwood bushes along the outer edge below it - the plants absorb the heat, especially the bushes; and that little bit of shade can drop the temp in the house by a LOT. Around this area people build them out of any materials they can find, even make just awnings out of cloth (or woven straw = thatch) - just something to shade the side the sun lays on. Example: Here is one just made out of painted metal which absorbs heat, but it still gives the shade needed along that house side: Boxwood bushes grow really fast, and would block the sun and absorb the heat; or you can screen it with a colored screen too.
