Thanks for all the comments! I am loving NV this time. Most of my problem centered around a lack of understanding of west coast Fallout. Elmer J Fudd is currently in Nipton, staring in dismay at what the Legion have done. Some nobody was rambling incoherently about a lottery ticket and shouting at him at the entrance to the town. Elmer was about to let him go onwards until he saw a large NCRCF logo on his back. A 9mm handgun soon emptied many rounds into his corrupt hide. Yes, lottery winner indeed. QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jul 15 2015, 07:12 PM) I am horrible at throwing grenades. They always go rolling fifty feet past whoever I am aiming at before they explode. One thing I like about New Vegas is that when you use grenades in VATS, they always drop right at your target's feet.
Very interesting. I agree the grenades land more perfect in NV, but my oh my the radius circle seems heaps larger than FO3. I am having to readjust just when I decide to throw after a number of crippled limbs in the early hours. FO3 missed the enemy but it also missed me as well!

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jul 16 2015, 05:15 PM) Go back and manually delete all the ash piles with the MarkForDelete console command? I have gotten in the habit of always doing that whenever I see an ash pile when I am playing a Fallout game or Skyrim. I did this but at some points cells already reset so I couldn't properly delete them. I assume that numerous ash piles up in the space could cause problems too but those cells already reset as well. I can't stand the lottery winner either, Swanick or what's his name, his voice is almost as annoying as Hirtel's in Cyrodiil. Glad that Elmer emptied his handgun in the convict-winner. The issue with save bloat in Marl's game annoys me so today I played with the character creation screen; usually if I end up with a looks that I'm satisfied with, I start a new character. Which is what happened, and so Patrick was born. Patrick is James' son, though nowhere near as intelligent as his Dad, but at least twice as strong, he was a designated hitter in the Vault 101 Baseball Team. Despite his strength, Patrick is a quiet guy and prefers to avoid fighting if possible unless someone provokes him really hard like Butch did before taking the G.O.A.T at the age of 16, and thus Patrick broke his nose. However he's not resentful, three years later, when escaping the Vault, he helped Butch's mother from radroaches and thus earned Butch's respect. Patrick is quite lost in the wastes and doesn't have the faintest idea where to search for his Dad, not to mention that he's angry and saddened for being left behind. He spent his first night under the open sky hidden in a sewer pipe.

Ha hey that sounds fun, the Vault 101 baseball team. Cho's a big fan of baseball (even though he's never played it) so it's a shame Cho and Patrick can't team up together. Such a shame they can't just meet, ya know? QUOTE(mALX @ Jul 15 2015, 12:21 PM) @ Renee - blowing up a bot sounds Awesome! I have not ever done it, now I'll have to try it!
Some of them are pretty slow. If they happen to be indoors, it's easy to lob a grenade at them and blow 'em up. For instance, I usually just have Cho stand strategically in a hallway with cramped walls. If the robot begins to come toward him, all he has to do is throw the grenade right when the bot happens to be aside a wall or two. The grenade won't roll away now, and usually this means the bot is going to be blow to pieces!

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Jul 17 2015, 07:35 PM) I found a mod that gets rid of them after you leave the cell. I don't know for sure if it will clean up all of your old ones or not though. You could try it out and see if your save game size goes down any. Thanks, I'll try it out. QUOTE(Renee @ Jul 18 2015, 02:30 AM) Ha hey that sounds fun, the Vault 101 baseball team. We'll arrange a meeting, don't worry, and bring some waffles to the party, get it?

"I met a strange boy the other day, when I stopped at one of my houses west of Fort Independence" scavenger Bob told his friend scavenger Jim. "He claimed to be from Vault 101 and believe me, Jimmy, he was wearing a typical vault outfit, the number 101 on his back. He was addled, at least before he got some sleep. He said he was the first to leave Vault 101 but in the next moment he said that his dad left before him, see? And I asked him 'Where is your dad now?' and the boy said 'I don't know'. I gave him some water and a cig and allowed him to sleep in my bed. But Jimmy, he was turning in bed all the time, I tell you, must have dreamed something horrible. A shame he didn't remember what when he woke up. He came to his senses, at least partially, said his name was Patrick. I again asked about his dad but he said they didn't leave the vault together but refused to tell me more. He asked whether there are some cities out here and whether there's some sort of law; now then I realized that he must have really lived under the rock, he had no idea about the wastes whatsoever. I told him about Megaton and Rivet City, and advised him to carry a good weapon at all times, though let me tell you, Jimmy, that he already had a bloodied baseball bat and a rusty flamer, so looks like the boy already learned the basics. Or maybe he was just damned lucky. I told him about stims too but the boy interrupted me and began talking about mutated dogs. Anyway, I got a feeling that he didn't really listen to me, to what I was saying to him, like his mind was somewhere else, you know? Around midnight, when I was about to go to sleep, he thanked me and left, I asked him where he's going but again he said 'I don't know'. See, it's true what they say Jimmy - only crazies come from these vaults."

QUOTE(mALX @ Jul 18 2015, 10:56 PM) @ Lopov - Bwaahaa, rolling another toon so soon? Patrick wasn't a serious character, more or less a test to see if save bloat is present even without numerous ash piles. I said that he "wasn't" because he was already owned by NukaLurks in the Nuka Cola Plant. I play DiD so I didn't reload but he lasted long enough to confirm that save bloat wasn't present in his game. Unfortunately the mod doesn't help in Marl's game because his save files aren't getting any smaller.

Trey spent some time helping the Brotherhood of Steel kick some serious Enclave... fundament....
And then Sarah Lyons came down out of the sky, almost like an angel- except in a vertibird. But she then gave him a more or less "what might have been" speech. Sigh.
Trey is beginning to think the women in the Wasteland only like him for his gun... or his maps...
So since the "Lone" part of his title was fulfilled (or unfulfilled) once again, he decided to live up to the "Wanderer" part, as well.
Somewhere north of an old power station, he chanced across a strange crashed vehicle, with an even stranger corpse nearby. Upon moving closer to investigate, he was.... taken.
And then there was ... probing... and he doesn't want to talk about it, okay?
