Wow, some powerful stuff! Kind of like Lila West from Dexter?

I wouldn't know, I've never watched it sad.gif

Edit: after reading about her on wikipedia, I think my character's worse.

But this woman is abominable. She manipulated her friends, used magic to destroy their minds, and runs a high-class brothel where she whores them out, along with anyone else she can sink her claws into. She's basically untouchable, and she makes money hand over fist through various nefarious tactics, like burning incense with narcotic properties throughout the establishment.

Fortunately, she only pops up in a single part. But that's more than enough.

That said, my main characters are going to get up to some pretty dark business too, but at least theirs is justifiable. To an extent.

I've not written as much as I would've liked to today, but I just can't face writing anything else right now. Writing that flashback from the main characters perspective was just exhausting. And the bit that followed wasn't much easier.

Sounds like you have written a very deep plot!

The blasted thing keeps growing. It started out as such a simple concept: Instead of a group of heroes out to save the world from the big bad evil, it was a group of broken, bitter people out for cold, bloody vengeance on their attackers. But as each character turned up, it got more complex. Like that evil woman, who's only there because of Amaril's backstory.

It's reached the point where I know the beginning, the end, and the major points in between, but I can't trace the exact route because the characters keep meandering and changing it.

Much as I love that fact, it does make it hard to keep track of it. At this point much of what I've got written down regarding the plot is out of date. laugh.gif

And I'm really wishing I hadn't started a fanfic before NaNoWriMo came around. sad.gif

I absolutely LOVE it when characters start taking charge of their own destiny when being written in a story! laugh.gif

The portrayal of Lara has changed quite a bit over the years, and finally swung into favor of being reasonable, as this article points out. Though I am sure once it is out on PC the modding community will get cranking on those Nudie mods!

I got a kick out of how the writer said "That’s a pretty significant development," when talking about how they shrank her boobs, laugh.gif

But I thought she looked stunning in that screenshot. They said she wasn't eye candy anymore; imho she is more than ever. She looked amazing.

I know that I should not read LA Times but I came across this Fallout 4 review.

Review

The writer has no idea what it takes to play a Bethesda game, let alone a Fallout game. Building a character and hunting in the ruins where death is just a moment away was a concept that went right over his head.

Half way through he wishes that he was back playing Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I can understand what he means, sort of, as the TR game is so user friendly and just requires you to kick back and enjoy. Fallout requires patience and has a leaning curve for those who are new to the series.

And, mALX, read the TR review. Your girl is kicking male butt in the story.

TR Story

And this cut scene is really good.

That review is a perfect example of why some people just shouldn't be allowed to play RPGs, if you ask me.

I found the review useful. Especially this line: "Rise of the Tomb Raider," which I started, played and completed during my week with "Fallout 4.", which convinced me that I don't want RotTR.

I have to agree with Thorney on this. The guy probably didn't realize you could turn down the difficulty level, lol.

That line struck me too; because if I had a game I could start and complete in such a short time, I don't see any long term enjoyment coming from that.

So, today's been kind of a bad news/good news kind of day.

Bad news: I'm way behind on NaNoWriMo

Good news: Between four 30 minute writing sessions, I managed to rack up a little over 3,500 words.

...

Actually, think that's my only good news of today, and it's kind of outnumbered.

*shrugs*

That just sets the bar lower for tomorrow to be an improvement biggrin.gif

Heh, thanks.

I just wish I had a vague idea of how long it's going to be. 15,000 words in and I'm not even halfway through the first part of the story. ohmy.gif

Yeah, but with NaNo, the word count is the only criteria. The story doesn't have to be finished, or even edited; just written. So don't worry what part isn't written yet - just look at it as an accomplishment that you have come so far and whooped the H out of that darned writer's block so well! laugh.gif

It's hard for me not to get worked up over it. This started out as something I threw together in a couple of days for NaNoWriMo last year, but it's taken on a life of its own since then.

That is when it is the best, when you know you are on the right track - and for the reader: whenever the story writes itself like this, it is the best read ever!

On another note, weary sighs today. Barely got any sleep the night before last, woke up tired this morning. Way too tired to write. Wanted to fire up a game of Fallout: New Vegas, but I haven't got any saves. No idea what happened to them. *Sighs wearily*

Oh well, I was leaning towards energy weapons again anyway...

Well, I think the important thing is that you have tapped into that creative place inside you; and had a glimpse of what it is capable of when you have just scratched its surface. Imagine what you can create if you really dig deep inside for the mother lode.

Your writing is amazingly exciting and creative. I love characters that are in depth, and yours sound Awesome!
