QUOTE(Lopov @ Apr 5 2016, 12:46 PM) It took me a few years but I finally found the Roach King and his throne. I was slightly "jealous" each time I saw SubRosa's character posing on that throne, because even though I knew the vague area of its location, I was walking past it for all these years.
Well not anymore, today the Hobo found it and I'm surprised that I've been missing it for solong because most of my characters were in that area. But I think I know why - the place only becomes visible once you get quite close, it's not visible from Minefield, for instance.
Proofs in the screenshots thread.
I often have the same problem with finding it. It is right out in the open so you think it would be easy. But I suspect there is no distant LOD for it, so you can only see the throne from a few cells away. Because of that, being out in the open actually makes it harder to find. When you are at a distance you look out over the big open expanse and see nothing, so you don't bother walking close enough for it to appear.

The Wastelander thought that she was a goner for sure - weaponless and pursued by three deadly radscorpions. Then she noticed some tall man ahead of her - he could be a raider, for all she knew, or he could be her savior. Fortunately for her, it was the latter.
As soon as the Hobo noticed the young woman chased by mutated scorpions, he knew that two things must be achieved immediately: firstly, he has to gain attention of the creatures so they would leave the Wastelander alone, and secondly, he has to slow them down. He accomplished both goals together thanks with the railway rifle - three spikes straight into legs of each radscorpion, and not only were they slowed down, thus allowing the Wastelander to outrun them, but now they had a grudge against the Hobo.
Equipping the shishkebab, the Hobo now faced the creatures with the "flaming sword" and within a matter of seconds, radscorpions became burnscorpions. The Wastelander came from the nearby barn, thanking the tall stranger for his help but he screamed at her, because she was alone in the wastes, yet she didn't even wield a proper weapon.
"There won't always be some hobo to save your pretty ass," he said, wagging his finger at the Wastelander, but then continued in lighter tone,"but there are some dead raiders a distance down from the barn. If your head's not totally empty, then take their weapons and something sturdier to wear, instead of those...those...those...blankets or whatever it is, you have on. Then find some peaceful settlement, a man to marry, and have children, lots of them. Don't venture into the wastes, 'cos you'll get killed. Listen to the old Hobo, 'cos he knows. He's seen it all."
"Thank you, hobo," smiled the relieved Wastelander. The guy was obviously nutty but she liked him. "I'll take up your advice and go find some proper weapon!"
The Hobo muttered something unintelligible, tapped her tiny shoulder with his big hand and continued his way towards the unknown.

So, I recently started up a new game of Fallout 3, with a character named Einar. And it's freaking me out. His tag skills are small guns, science, and repair. His stat line's pretty solid too. Nothing particularly remarkable happened to him early on, did a couple of the early wasteland Survival guide quests, got himself a home in Megaton, and hit level 5. That was when he picked up a radio broadcast on his Pipboy. So he went looking for the source, and came across some Brotherhood Outcasts looking to salvage some old tech, and asked for his help. he agreed, since they offered him a share of what they found. Which led to him being plugged into a VR simulator. But what stepped out of that simulation wasn't Einar. Not anymore. Einar was not a trained shotgun neurosurgeon. Einar was not a raging hulk that didn't care about gunfire. And Einar certainly wasn't capable of destroying four Brotherhood Outcasts with a combat shotgun in less time than it's taken me to type all of this(He killed them so quickly that Specialist Olin survived, despite her lack of armour and attacking the traitors with a flamer). At least, he wasn't when he went into the VR pod... Now, he's a frakking (ninth level)monster. In Brotherhood Outcast Power Armour.
