I didn´t mean to shoot more with my .22 magnum but this morning I did. We have a bird house up on a tree that is completely overrun by wasps and my attempts to disturb them with air rifles and airsoft pistols didn´t work, so I brought out the heavy artillery.

Fifteen rounds went through and lets just say I didn´t stick around to ask questions cool.gif

Had my annual migraine/mental anomaly Neurology appointment Monday morning, 18 Jul. Was administered a memory test prior to seeing the doctor. Did surprisingly well, 36 out of 38. That's better than the last time I took it, which if memory serves was two years ago. Amazingly, I answered all math problems correctly. The math in question is super simple, basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, little more challenging than 37-9=xx. Still, I've always gotten at least one problem wrong. I was rotten at math even during my long ago school days. Nowadays my only needs for it are handled by Microsoft Money (where I budget and ledger expenses, which I reconcile to the penny), and once a year TurboTax. About the only other time I use it is to compute state taxes-due on internet purchases, for which a computer calculator suffices. In any case, I was right pleased to come through the math portion unscathed. Oh...did I mention the entire test is oral?

On the other hand, I was unable to immediately repeat the final and longest string of numbers, despite the nurse allowing three attempts. That's a first for a section I've breezed through in the past.

My other error was not being able to repeat four words. Unlike with numbers, I don't repeat them immediately. Instead, the words are told me near test start. I'm asked to repeat them at its end. I never pass this one. NEVER. I always recall the first two words. Never the last two. Funny thing is, I recall and repeat those first words, Apple and Mr Johnson, before the nurse says them. They never change from test to test. I recall them year(s) long. Yet I am unable to regurgitate the other words after only a few minutes. Go figure. (I might have Apple and Mr Johnson engraved on my tombstone, if I bother with one.)

As usual, I made a nuisance of myself with my response to "who was the first president?". I go through the spiel about there being some 15 Presidents of the Continental Congress, whose names I no longer recall, who predate the name wanted, the first US president in a more or less modern sense, George Washington. I'm always tempted to add insult to injury by saying, "that's Washington without an R", but bite my tongue. (That so many pronounce it Warshington, including those in high position who ought to know better, is a long-held pet peeve of mine.)

Hey. So long as they let me come home after the test I reckon I'm doing okay.

One of the words on the test is to remember was "Mr. Johnson?" ohmy.gif Is another word you have to remember "Tuna Fish?" I think if I remembered nothing else in the test, I'd have to remember "Mr. Johnson" - and probably be laughing like Beavis and Butthead through the rest of the words and not hear them, laugh.gif

"BWAAHAA, she said 'Mr. Johnson'. BWAAHAA! Uh-huh-huh-huh...BWAAHAA!"

Those poor test givers would have you razzing them about Presidents and me giggling like a ten year old over perceived dherty in-u-end-oh = they'd all go home with headaches that day! rollinglaugh.gif

Glad you made it through the test okay, Decrepit - and love that you play around with them on the "1st Pres" question, rollinglaugh.gif

Really? I thought you'd enjoy a bit of "our" weather. tongue.gif Kidding.

Last time I was in England (as a teen in the 1980s) it was summer and there was a heat wave there. Which I found funny at the time because your "heatwave" is an average summer day for us.
