QUOTE(mALX @ Jul 24 2016, 02:14 PM) Getting into the spirit of Bravil = Skooma! AHA!!!
Now you're talking. Uncork it baby! It is Sundas, Sun's Dawn 3, 4th Era 21 and Renee Gade III has just completed an Arena match in the Imperial City. She fought a Redguard guy. Now she and a couple friends are in a bathhouse in the Market District. I enjoy it when she bathes, it's weird. Right now she is swimming in place (a weird effect of my PC controller), leveling up her Athletics skill while I type this, and do other things. Well, so much for Kazimir...
He was doing the Anvil Mages Guild quest, since he started out in Anvil. But things went a little differently than usual Caminalda was waiting in the road for him, rather than dashing out from beside the road. Kazimir immediately used one of the frost shell scrolls, mindful of Carahil's warning. The Battlemages came charging in, one of them hurling a lightning bolt that missed spectacularly. Then Caminalda hurled a lightning bolt at Kazimir.
That rather set the tone for the fight. Two of those lightning bolts were almost enough to kill Kazimir, with his 50% weakness to magic, the Battlemages were unable to catch up to Caminalda, who refused to be distracted from her dogged pursuit of the backpedaling Kazimir. I don't think she even tried attacking either of them. The summoned critters were no faster than the Battlemages, between the two Battlemages a grand total of two spells were cast, both lightning bolts that missed by some margin(the second came closer to hitting Kazimir than Caminalda!), and Kazimir's flare simply couldn't do enough damage.
The only frost spell Caminalda actually used was the one that killed Kazimir, after his frost shell scroll had worn off.
I'm thinking that there wasn't anything I could actually have done to stop Kazimir dying, to be honest. With Caminalda throwing lightning bolts around turning and running was out of the question, especially with Kazimir's low speed. The Battlemages weren't contributing anything to the fight, since Caminalda just ignored them in favour of Kazimir, who had to keep moving to try and dodge lightning bolts, but couldn't get the distance to do a decent job of it.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Jul 28 2016, 03:31 PM) I've also heard of a Legion rider showing up, getting confused and attacking the battlemages! I've seen that happen a couple of times, and it is kind of amusing. But I've never seen the quest play out the way it did. Normally Caminalda turns to fight the Battlemages from time to time, giving my character some breathing room while the Battlemages rough her up. And I don't recall seeing Caminalda use lightning bolts before, I guess using the scrolls Carahil hands out is actually a bad idea.

She always hit me with frost spells, so I started having Maxical drink a potion of frost resistance before that fight. (technically, she drinks the "Philter of Frostward" because when S'Drassa gives it to her for that quest, she duplicates the 3 bottles he gives her so she has enough to find all the tears; and whatever is leftover gets used in this quest). Really odd she would cast lightning bolts, I never heard of her doing that before! (and yeah, she always conjures that ghost too). You know, I've never used those scrolls before, I wonder if they trigger a higher level attack on the player? This post has been edited by mALX: Jul 28 2016, 06:55 PM

Callidus you are hard core. Dedication to a tee, with the dead-is-dead stuff. What level was Kazi? Maybe the Caminalda only uses lightning bolts once you get over a certain level.
4:39 am, Rain's Hand 11, 3rd Era 434: Kahreem of Weet just found the "Key-Shaped Arrowhead", or the Arrow of Extrication. My gosh, we must have walked by its location at least a half-dozen times. But phew, I'm just glad he found it.
Now, back to see the Big Man. ha.

Looking around the UESPWiki, Caminalda has Battlemage spells, which can include a leveled shock spell. Presumably that was as powerful as the leveled frost spell she's given for the quest. Combine that with the healing spell she seemed to have and it looks like I just hit a perfect storm of bad luck. QUOTE(Renee @ Jul 28 2016, 10:09 PM) Callidus you are hard core. I don't know that I can play any other way at this point. I started out playing dead-is-dead in another game, imitating someone who wrote some rather good fanfics of his efforts. I guess I kind of connect the two; every character has their story, and It's not my place to meddle with that. Otherwise they're not really characters anymore. At least, I think that's how it works for me.

Newsflash:Kahreem of Weet KILLED Lucien Lachance. Wow, I never thought one of mine would do this! I'm really psyched right now. I feel good. QUOTE(Callidus Thorn @ Jul 28 2016, 05:25 PM) I don't know that I can play any other way at this point.
Oh I know. It's fine, I play DiD too, but it's rare one of them actually dies. What level was Kazi? I'm wondering if Caminalda starts using lightning bolts at a certain level.

He was only level one. It was literally his first day in Cyrodiil. I couldn't have killed him off quicker if I'd tried I think it might come down to what spells Caminalda's given. There's not much difference in the cost between frost and shock, so it might have just been that she'd been randomly assigned one and with the frost shield spell active it was the most efficient. But then, since no-one seems to have seen her do this before, it might have just been a glitch. I did think it was kind of odd when she was just waiting in the middle of the road, but didn't really attach any significance to it. And Kahreem killed Lucien? I have had some rather Awesome glitches that were just plain weird as heck happen to me in Oblivion. One game, no one's bodies disappeared; instead they were all hanging in the air low to the ground as if they were crucified on crosses - very eeried looking; and as the game went on more and more bodies since they were respawning like that every time I turned the game on! Another time, Maxical was a vampire and died in a relatively easy fight due to sun damage - but she didn't die. She fell to the ground in the death pose, but I could move her dead body across the ground and fast travel it. And even shutting the game off and starting it up again she would be dead, but I could move her around. All she could see was everyone's feet. (which is how she ended up dying but remaining in the story in my fic story over at the BGSF)
