So today I went down to the shop and could finally bring home my new Chiappa lever gun in .22LR! Such a fine little rifle indeed and it feels so nice to have a wood n steel rifle instead of the plastic one I had before. Sure, I have other wood n steel guns but that only made me realize even more how much I don´t want a plastic one. But you know, if someone wants to donate an AR-15 it´s not like I can´t take it off yer hands if yer twist me arm a bit... biggrin.gif

Haven´t fired it yet but I will later this evening. I also bought a shooting target but I fear the choice might have been a tad sacrilegious.. rollinglaugh.gif rollinglaugh.gif

And when the guy gave me the ammo I thought he was giving me shorts, but no. It was standard LR´s. I´m so used to see magnum cases tongue.gif
Got 1000 rounds of CCI mini mags and 50 rounds of Winchester SuperX that they threw in for free. Strangely though, there were no holes for sling mounts so I guess I´ll have to make due without.

I know you've been looking forward to this one, mirocu and really hope you enjoy it. I wouldn't worry about your target - green crows are okay to shoot. tongue.gif

If by stuff you mean plastic bottles and foam birds I'm good with it.

Congrats on the new firearm Mirocu. Glad it all got sorted out.

Yeah. My excavator runs on diesel and I don´t want any green crows raining down on my parade tongue.gif

Thanks and yeah, me too smile.gif

So I fired about 50 rounds yesterday evening and another 50 today and I must say, it shoots quite well. Windage is pretty much where it´s supposed to be so no need for Kentucky, only elevation might need some adjustments since I can´t really shoot that far with open sights; they pretty much cover the entire target which makes it hard to shoot at a specific place on said target.

That bird was so much fun! I just stuck it into the lawn and took some shots at it and by god, the LR has some force to it! The bird swung seemingly just as hard as the steel target when shooting with .22 magnum! I sort of see the LR as a slight step up from air guns but it´s way more than that. Yesterday when I was shooting at some bricks it even knocked them down! And they were quite big as well and I had placed them so they wouldn´t tip over!

That CCI ammo is well worth its price. Apart from me tilting the rifle and working the lever too slow sometimes it cycles really well and there were no misfires. The mechanism in the rifle was very stiff and borderline clunky at first, but I suspected it was because it had been at the shop for a very long time. Since it´s a takedown I took it apart, cleaned and lubed it and put it together again and while watching The Simpsons I gave the lever mechanism some "gymnastics" while applying more lubrication on the moving parts and now it all works very smoothly smile.gif

I´m so happy I got this rifle! Between it and the revolver, all I need now is a Stetson and a horse and I´m all set! laugh.gif

Yeah, no squirrel shooting allowed nono.gif

But I´m ok with bird shooting, as long as they´re completely green and inanimate. Or if they´re pigeons tongue.gif

When I got the other gun it came with a small wire lock that you put through the ejection port on the autoloader. I kept it when trading in the gun and I´m glad I did so because it locks the lever nicely. I mean it´s not a tight fit but you can´t cycle it and put a round in the chamber.

Had a small setback yesterday when I disassembled and reassembled the gun. I had butterfingers and got stuff loose that shouldn´t be loosened and when I put it back together again the lever got stuck and didn´t go fully up. Got a little sweaty as I didn´t want to go all the way back to the shop again but after a short while looking closely at the mechanism I figured out how it was supposed to be and got it back together and it all works fine now. Even tested it by putting a round in the mag and cycling it.

But don´t do that yourself. I´m what you´d call a professional cool.gif

Is this the gun I warned you in advance they stopped making because they jammed and blew up in people's faces?

Poor birds??? They are disease-ridden, and their droppings carry diseases . . . they're noisy lol. I can't stand their "Pruu Pruu, Pruu Pruu PRUUUU."

Then again I don't tolerate loud animals. I LOVE animals, not the annoying ones. Last night I woke up three in the morning because there's this stray dog that goes around barking and waking up the other household dogs, causing a choir of barking dogs. She did this every single night. Last night I woke up, walked out of my house and into the street in my underwear with a bucket of water lol. She took a nice bath. So far she was still pretty quiet. Saw her this morning trying to play with my dog.

But to stay on topic . . . man I don't like pigeons. I hate cleaning nasty bird-droppings and I had to do it every day until I started shooting them at night. I avoid it during the day because in this communist-like country killing pigeons is frowned upon. Not sure if its illegal, and if it was, who the hell cares? People died here because of their diseases. My grandmother is 84 years old, strong and able yet . . . the smell is terrible.

I say shoot them all. wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

EDIT: OOOH and Mirocu, I'll probably be heading back home to America next month or so since I was done selling dru---drums here in Brazil laugh.gif laugh.gif. I'm going to go shopping for some nice firearms, too. I love the AR-15. Got to use it last year at the range, and the Glock 18, and 19 when I did my concealed carry course.
