Edwyn Ironhart (Should have been Edwyn Copperhart, but that wouldn't fit so I changed his name and gave him copper hair ) Taking a run at a pure mage, and here he is. A Breton born under the Mage, unsurprisingly, he was locked up due to an accident. He came to Cyrodiil because his uncle had died and left him some property near Bruma, but when he arrived in the Imperial City someone tried to pick his pocket. He managed to grab Edwyn's coinpouch, but Edwyn almost caught him, and then tried to stop him from fleeing with a burden spell. While this did stop the thief from running away, it also caused him to trip and smash his head against a stone step. A healer couldn't be summoned in time to help him, and the Legionnaire who'd seen what happened wasn't inclined to let Edwyn near the thief, even to help him. Of course, Edwyn wasn't in prison for long... This post has been edited by Callidus Thorn: Oct 25 2016, 04:14 PM

And the Today thread comes back to life, just like that. Welcome back, t-C. QUOTE(Lopov @ Oct 25 2016, 11:45 AM) The innkeeper forgot to give her the key?
Roxey Inn is quite crowded in the vanilla game, and I think another mod adds even more NPCs in her game. She sometimes sleeps outside, so this was a good time to do so, while I RP'd that some of her party took turns sleeping in that one bed.

I keep meaning to see how many NPCs you can cram into a lower-class inn. I expect the game would start zonking out after a certain point. Now add in a good Frenzy spell and let the good times roll...

I hope you stick with him long enough to write a good length story about him!

I'll probably be sticking with him a while, if only to get him to master all the schools of magic. I doubt I'll write anything about him though, he's the wrong sort of character for that. Edwyn's been busy. He's sacked Forts Nikel and Empire twice, raided Vilverin, Sercen, and Fort Chalman, and killed some Necros in Moss Rock Cavern. All that killing(the first run of all of those) gave him the cash to pay for the bedroom and library upgrades for Frostcrag, and he's got enough early in the second run to pay for the alchemy bench and possibly the vault as well. He's currently back at Frostcrag Spire, about to start up an alchemy session, not that he needs the potions in all honesty. He's level four, on the verge of becoming a journeyman of destruction, and has a skill level of at least 40 in all the other schools save alchemy(still down at 25 for the moment). Since he hit level four the enemies have gotten tougher, in that they don't die as quickly at least. He's had to upgrade from the basic Flare spell to a Spark spell he bought while getting his Bruma recommendation(The only one he's got so far). Next stop Cheydinhal. Or Chorrol. But probably Cheydinhal. I was expecting him to be something of a glass cannon, with only 35 endurance at the start, but thus far nothing's posed a credible threat to him at any point. I guess I've got to wait for the enemies to catch up before the game's going to get interesting on that front.

When I though "Edwyn" and the "mage", I immediately remembered the one and only Edwin Odesseiron.

I can't play a pure mage.
I tried. Again. But I just don't find it fun.
Playing Edwyn's game earlier genuinely had me nodding off. I'd only had to use one restore magicka potion, due to fighting a necromancer adept that just wouldn't hold still, no other potions had been required. His shield spell was completely unnecessary, because nothing that wielded a weapon could survive up close long enough to land a second hit. I actually got so bored I decided to take on a passing Legionary. It cost me one restore magicka potion, and a little time after the fight healing. That was at level seven, with apprentice level spells and without the use of spellmaking.
I'm sure things would change eventually, but if I'm not having any fun before I reach that part of the game, then why bother?

Thorny, dude. To me it does sound like you really need another game altogether now. No idea to force anything that simply doesn´t work for you anymore. Sorry this character didn´t find his way home either. I must say he looked quite promising ------------------------- From Bravil to Morcant´s cottage and from there to Cheydinhal via the forest. That has been Lothran´s path these last couple of days. Stocking up on potions and recharging weapons at Morcant´s and plans exist to do the same in Cheydinhal. Night has passed and early morning arrived. While waiting for stores to open up Lothran is sitting on the bench just outside the Mages Guild. The persistent thunderstorm that had followed him all the way from Bravil has finally passed and the sky is once again calm

Thorny needs the power of mods. Seriously, I played the vanilla game for 5+ years, and that's how long it took before I finally got bored. This was because of Lady Saga 1-shotting every enemy (even strong ones like trolls) from a distance. With mods, I could reintroduce challenge, by improving aspects of the game which aren't a problem on Xbox--such as making food, drink, and sleep matter. Balancing the way skills level upwards, etc. ....then again, I know CT prefers the vanilla game. I think he's already tried the game on PC but didn't like it. Sorry this character didn´t find his way home either. I must say he looked quite promising He was powerful enough, too much so if anything, but I shouldn't even have bothered with him. I've tried playing a pure mage before with the same setup, a Breton born under the Mage, and had the exact same experience. I'll just fire up a character who's style of play I know I like, either a Spellsword or a Nightblade(probably Dunmer), and keep DiD suspended. Won't bother posting about him though.
