From what I heard, he was hating the whole show by the end; hated the popularity and notoriety it brought him; and couldn't wait for it to be over. Sad, because everyone I know LOVED it!

House was like a modern-day Sherlock Homes, only he was saving lives(most of the time) rather than solving murders.

And he's had a fair bit of trouble due to that limp he had to assume.

I think Hugh Laurie was one of those underrated actors. Though after seeing Blackadder it was something of a surprise to see him in something as serious as House.
