They transitioned to gems and have limited mistakes in the form of hearts. Run out and you have to spend 450 gems to refill.

I've got over 25,000 of them. I had over 2000 lingots before the change. I like the shop not having much, it means I don't feel compelled to buy stuff.

I just want to finish the dang Swedish course so I can be done with it. Lol.

I still make a ton of mistakes too in sentence structure so it's like fml.

Yeah I’d ditch that quick. I don’t know a lot about language learning software, but I’m sure you can find alternatives if you do a little research.

Maybe. I just do this for grits and giggles, really. Duolingo is not the best to actually learn anyway, more getting a grip or check what you've learned elsewhere.

I use it mostly out of habit, and my husband wants me to finish the darn course.

I *did* pay for memrise. You cant go past first course without it, but there's no microtransactions. Duolingo actually has no way of buying gems so you either have to wait on hearts to refill or do easier lessons.

It's really annoying.

I just want to give up on the whole thing. I don't like this language learning thing anymore.

Ah, I see. The way it sounded was that they would sell you the gems and hearts. Glad to hear that’s not the case.
