I worked for a couple of years in the Amsterdam office of an international company, with German, Belgiah, Scottish, Indonesian, Italian and of course local employees. We would play multi-lingual scrabble, where each player was assigned a (different) language to use which could not be their native one. We used the Netherlands tile set, as it had the fewest distinct letters (no Y), and so nobody had letters they could not use. Multiple dictionaries were on hand. If a word was valid in more than one language, it scored less points.

The only problem is that we all ended up speaking fluent foreign, often mixing languages in a sentence. Especially when drunk.

This one is full of cream, jam and custard.

My muddleheadedness has potentially reached new heights. At the end of supper, I moved my evening antibiotic, my inhaler, my Dry Mouth oral rinse and my sleeping pills to their accustomed conspicuous places so that I will remember to take them at their proper times prior to retiring. First up was the antibiotic, followed immediately by the inhaler. I'd then brush my teeth, go about my business until bedtime, then down a sleeping pill and gargle with the oral rinse before donning CPAP gear.

That's how it always works, night after night, week after week, month after month, year after year. That's how it should have worked today. Only, I don't think it didn't. What I think I did was swallow a sleeping pill instead of my antibiotic. To add insult to injury, those sleeping pills are meant to be taken a half-pill per dose. Due to the error, if error it was, I'd have swallowed a whole pill. Thing is, I'm not 100% sure I made the error. But I am a good 90% sure. I'll forego tonight's antibiotic, just in case I'm wrong and have already taken it. What a mess. I should know reasonably soon. Mine are prescription sleeping pills and quite powerful. Taking a double dose should knock me out good and proper.

Aye, all went well. Well enough. I was becoming groggy by the time I posted my initial comment. I decided to call it quits early and retire to the sofa, there to read until nodding off. Only, I didn't nod off. Not until my accustomed time. In fact, I was awake and alarm at 'normal' bedtime. I woke throughout the night when I normally do, to relieve myself and replenish CPAP humidifier water. The only real difference in sleep pattern between this past night and any other is that I woke sooner than normal (around 0230), then eventually managed to nod off and slept until 0430. (A good hour later than I usually wake for the day.)

I'm still not sure whether I did or didn't confuse antibiotic with sleep pill. The only thing truly unusual about last night is that, for a while, I suffered minor generalized head pain. On the other hand, counting remaining antibiotic pills tallies with me having taken the correct pill last night. But . . . one has to figure in my forgetfulness. I might have forgotten to take a pill earlier this treatment. I don't know that I did. I don't know that I didn't. In any case, it's all water under the bridge now.
