I keep notes. *screenshot*The notepad pages in the middle of the screen are all organized. Each column is a different game. So from left to right we've got Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, and Skyrim. Most of those notepad docs are different characters. In some cases, there isn't much going on. So second column (Oblivion) third notepad down is Lady Saga's game for instance. She never does actual quests, only roams. So her page is mostly whatever ideas I think of, mods to add or content to change, etc. But for a New Vegas game there's a lot more notes. Edit: at the very bottom of my desktop are a list of notes for swapping from one character to another. Here's an example of Fallout 3: Cho, Janet, and Vicious. I mean, FOMM lets me swap from one character's mods list to another's with just two clicks, but it's also nice to keep notes, just because I'd forget... I finally got around to removing my Steam version of Fallout 4 and installing the Gog version of it that I bought last year. Now I am in the process of installing mods. Starting with F4SE and all the mods dependent upon it.
In the process I discovered that the Gog version is no longer the most up to date version of the game. Apparently Bethesda did two more major updates to the Steam versions of the game, which they call Next-Gen updates. But these updates have not been made available to Gog. I am not sure if or when they every will be.
The Gog version is 1.10.163.0. The newest version on Steam is 1.10.984
So you have to watch for this when downloading F4SE and other mods, to make sure you have the right version for your copy of the game.
I also learned that the Creation Kit does not come with the Gog version of the game. You were supposed to be able to get it from the Bethesda.Net Launcher. But Bethesda stopped supporting it, and instead ported everything from it to Steam. I *think* that you can install the Steam app, and register your Gog version of the game with Steam, and maybe then download the Creation Kit from Steam? I do not know for certain.
I found a copy of the Creation Kit files that someone had on the Google Drive. That did not work until I also added the steam_api64.dll from my old Steam copy of Fallout 4 (which had the Creation Kit already installed). After that it worked. So I made a backup folder of that and the other Creation Kit files for the future.
I am also doing more with Mod Organizer 2, and once again am using it for managing my mod load order. I figured out how to use it to create what are essentially FOMODs of mods with loose files. It is very simple. But you can only do it with .zip, or .rar, or .7z files. You cannot do it with a folder. So if you are working on a mod with loose files, you have to put it all in a .zip file, then use Mod Organizer to create a FOMOD of it.
Also, Mod Organizer does not copy all the mod files to your Fallout 4 folder when you active them. Instead it keeps them all in its own install directory. This means that you have to start Mod Organizer, and launch the game from there in order for them to work. If not, then those FOMODs will not work, because they won't be present. That is not a huge deal, as I was used to always starting with Mod Organizer anyhow. But it is something to keep in mind. The old Oblivion Mod Manager worked much better, IMHO.

Thanks a lot for information like this. AS you know I tried really hard to get the GOG version of Skyrim, only to find only SE is sold thru GOG. To get LE I had to go back to Cream. Dang that's scary. I mean, you're an experienced modder, so you've navigated through a bunch of landmines successfully (I know the feeling). Hopefully there won't be problems down the road. Yes, Creation Kit must come from Steam. Discovered that as well while building my Skyrim last month. For whatever reason, I couldn't just copy/paste the CK from my backup disc. Well, I could do this, but it wasn't working properly, because Cream wasn't officially recognizing the CK in my new Skyrim folder. Something like that. Indeed, I still use the old-fashioned FOMM for Fallout 3 (haven't gotten FO4 yet). Probably I should get Wrye Mash one of these days... Anyway, character? Did ya roll a nu toon yet? Keep us posted.

No real toons yet. I started a new game and just flew through the character creation and saved right afterward to do some basic testing. So I could add the F4SE mods, start the game and load the save, and make sure the mods were working. That at least went perfectly, with no real hitches.
I have a hankering for playing January however, so she will probably be my first FallGog 4 toon.
I still have all my old saves though. I moved them to a different folder when I installed the Gog version, and moved them back. I also started up one of my most recent ones of Hecate. It was funny, because she was bald! I was using a mod for her hair, which I have not gotten to installing yet on the Gog version. So she was full Sinead O'Connor, which I liked actually. Waay back in Fallout 3 I rolled a toon named Rachel Riddick, who was based on Vin Diesel, and she had a shaved head too.
The Gog version also comes with some Creation Club content, but only partially. It has the .bsa files for like a dozen of them - are they called creations? - but not the .esl files for them. But I had found those somewhere years ago (I forget from where) and saved them. I copied them over, and all the creations now work. So that is something new to discover whenever I get around to actually playing.

In my recent Mass Effect Trilogy playthrough, I’m playing Désirée as a Vanguard Shepard. When I got to Mass Effect 2, I made the decision to give her a buzzed haircut, due to the events of that game’s intro. It seemed fitting that she would have shorter hair. In anycase, she looked like an absolute badass. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Jan 14 2025, 04:00 PM

Sunday, 10:20:81, 6:03 PM -- Justin Tyme has joined the Powder Gangers. It was way easier than I thought it would be, all we gotta do is put on a Powder Ganger suit. "Members of that faction now consider you a friend, while enemies of that faction will attack you on sight regardless of your personal faction relation with them... Security personnel such as guards and watchdogs will see through your disguise and alert anyone nearby"

Monday, 02:08:82 11:56 AM == Linda Hand is in Nipton and just spoke to Boxcars, one of the sole remaining people in town. Boxcars told Linda about some "Legion *ducks*" who came in and beat the *cluck* out of everyone, enslaved others, decapitated "lottery winners" and burned Nipton's leader alive. I can't really remember everything Linda was up to, since I last played her game in 2021. But right now she's pretty pissed at the Legion. Seems she's picking a side. She travels with Veronica. Linda's game was originally on Xbox, transferred it to PC last summer. 🎮 On the 360 Veronica had a problem, which was: she would not heal herself. Wouldn't use stimpaks. Now that she's on PC I also discovered she's got a script which is supposed to make her auto-heal after combat, like this,, Begin OnCombatEnd
ResetHealth
EndWhat the script should do is completely heal the NPC after combat stops. Wasn't working on Xbox, nor did it work on PC. So what I did was fixed the script like this. Begin OnCombatEnd
VeronicaRef.ResetHealth
EndInserting Veronica's Ref ID makes the code focus specifically on healing HER, rather than just throwing some code errantly into the void. Anyway, problem sloved. Linda left a pack of cigarettes, a fresh apple, and a bottle of Sunset Sasperilla with Boxcars. She's a Good Person. This post has been edited by Renee: Mar 2 2025, 10:26 PM

Felicia Day, okay, I'll look her up. Curious what else she's done. Question: Does Veronica heal herself in your game? As stated, she wouldn't use Stimpaks on Xbox, even if we told her "Use Stimpak" in the character wheel thingie. On PC I discovered she's got a script which is supposed to make her autoheal, but the script wasn't working. I had to fix it! So I'm curious if Veronica healed herself in your game?

She does, but I'm also running quite a few mods to update and fix the game. I did notice that they won't heal poison though, so cazadors can be a pain.

Season's greetings! Yes! Today marks the start of the 2025 Fallout 3 season! It's the playoffs, one could say. Started off by collecting Gunny outside Megaton, but not until a Yogi Bear was killed and Deputy Weld was resurrected which was the first time I ever had to do that if memory serves me. He's been on two measly healthbars for years and years and today it seems it just wasn't enough. But he's been repaired so all is good. After that it was time to kill the cluster of Deathclaws over at Northwest Seneca Station, this time opening up with the rocket launcher and then following up with the Vulcan minigun. This time the Claws were all up on the bridge and not down the valley by the rocks where they usually are. There used to be some Outcasts there too although I haven't seen them there in some years now. So yeah, time to start runnin' and gunnin'!

NICE, welcome back, mirocu!!! Oops. Welcome back, Mirocu!!! Deputy Weld's been stuck with two health bars! In my games he occasionally gets destroyed by random enemies that show up... not every single time we near Megaton, but maybe 10% of the time. He respawns, just so ya know, while I RP somebody actually rebuilds him. Rocket launcher! Tuesday, October 22, 2281, 8:29 AM -- Justin Tyme defeated Chavez with a stealth shot from his pistol, and (I assume) is now a bonafide Powder Ganger. 🤠Yes that means he's Evil-oriented and will probably try to fight against Goodsprings, but it's more than that. Justin's a doochebag, plain old doochebag. Sometimes DBs are fun to RP. I have a real-life friend who though he is my friend, he is also a dooche. I mean, he's respectful to women (otherwise he wouldn't be my friend) but otherwise... Anyway, Justin's fight against Chavez and his crew was messy, and took about 12 hours. Justin prefers using a machete, so of course when he threatened Chavez, Chavez's crew began shooting Justin up! I was actually thinking "uh oh, JT's gonna die" but he barely survived, jamming stimpaks and whatnot. I made a quest/script which allows me to use Hardcore Mode (food, drink, sleep) but allows some health to return during sleep. Limb condition also restores. ☦ I like Hardcore, but not that Hardcore.

Then again this way I still have the "original" Deputy Weld, so that's a win Also, a bit surprised your Welds get destroyed that often, even if it's not actually often. In my game there are usually just ants showing up so Weld and the others could kill them quickly. But since it was a Yogi Bear this time he didn't stand a chance Also also, sounds like mr Tyme had a close call. Being bad comes with a price..

QUOTE(Renee @ Mar 15 2025, 06:23 PM) He'd still be the original Deputy Weld. Robots can't die. In roleplay terms, I like to think somebody simply rebuilds the silly bot.
Sure, but I see it as if it respawns, it's not the exact same one from when I started playing, if you know what I mean. It would be a clone, not the exact same individual. QUOTE(Renee @ Mar 15 2025, 06:23 PM) Last I saw, Justin was headed to NCR's Primm camp to speak to Lieutenant Hayes about NCR's plans about NCRCF (it's a prison, mirocu, in which the prisoners revolted. These prisoners are now calling themselves Powder Gangers...), whether NCR is planning to retake the prison or not. Before heading to NCR, Justin Tyme made sure to wear ordinary clothes. Not sure if he'd get shot up if wearing a Powder Ganger outfit!
Interesting. I never knew who the Powder Gangers were, but now I do
