From what I have read so far, it looks like visual assets, i.e. meshes, textures, animations, etc. will need to be remade for UE5, but the esp/esm and scripts will still work. I don't have a copy yet, but it's on the todo list. I may wait until some conversion tools are available, before I start updating my Oblivion mods.

Might not have long to wait! I think xEdit is well underway, according to the Discord.

I think it's already working, just needs packaging. It will be asset conversion tools that I need. Just about every mod I created has new meshes.

On the positive side, you may be able to ride a bear at speeds other than full gallop.

Oh wow, it is on PS5. Interesting. Just because Beth themselves have given up on Playstation (finally). -- From what I understand, Remastered is made by Skyblivion, not Bethesda themselves.

So this is like Skyrim SE, I think. I can't just use my current Oblivion saves & modifications for OB Remastered. Well, looks like I could, but only if they don't use OBSE. unsure.gif

New voice actors, no way!

Steam only? Bleah. Chances are I'd get it for Xbox.

QUOTE(macole @ Apr 22 2025, 05:30 PM) *

it does look good but I'm years into a heavily modded game to switch now.

This is me too. smile.gif Maybe if we could just use our current saves and everything we've built over the years I'd give it a try.

Thing is: for PC, Remaster's gonna use more than one core right?

Skyblivion? I think not. Skyblivion is a fan-based project that still exists, it is a total conversion of TES5 Skyrim. No, Oblivion Remastered was made by a third party commercial game studio. The two are in direct competition with each other. Skyblivion is due to be released in June.

Oh sorry. Thought I read Skyblivion, my mistake.

Again though, the question for PC: Remaster's gonna use more than one core right? Of the processor?

I would imagine so. The minimum processor requirement is an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, and that's a six core processor.

Hoo boy, people are already talking about a Fallout 3 remaster in the same vein coming down the pike.

The game industry seems to suffer from the same illness as the movie industry; constant remasters and reboots instead of new, interesting ideas/products.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft wanted these to bridge the gap until TES VI releases.

I got some time with the game this morning and in classic Khajiit fashion, I didn’t even get out of the character creator, lol. Some notes:

1. The potato faces are definitely gone. They seem to have taken some inspiration from Skyrim for most races, which will probably be controversial for hardcore Oblivion purists. I am overall happy with the changes, but I will say that it will take a lot of work for me to make a Dunmer female that I’m happy with.
2. Men can have real beards now!! Praise Azura!
3. The character creator works almost exactly like it did in classic Oblivion. Biggest difference is the skin tone and hair color options. These are now options you pick from large palettes instead of sliders. Hair colors have an option for the base or “root” color and for “tips” color, with extra sliders that let you determine which is more dominant. Skin tones are much more simplified and the jankiness has been eliminated. I’m very grateful for this as I was always frustrated by the skin tone sliders of classic Oblivion.
4. They’ve added something called “Origin” to the race selection screen. For instance, as an Imperial you can select either Nibenese or Colovian, while Dunmer can choose to hail from either mainland Morrowind or Vvardenfell. I’m not sure how or if these choices affect anything gameplay wise, because it certainly doesn’t seem to affect anything cosmetic.

That all sounds awesome! No more trying to install Blockhead, and I kinda dig the origin idea. Can let you really pin down a backstory for your character!

The origin idea sounds like the History option in the Camarilla Edition of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.

Sorry! I won't talk about that game here! laugh.gif

Then those men with bears should better not set foot to the Shivering Isles because only Prince Sheogorath is allowed to have a beard. Insubordinance by lesser men is punishable by death, as one can learn if they were fortunate enough to find a certain skeleton Robert Wisnewski, a resident of Bliss (see: Death Decree).

Yeah, I certainly don’t mind the addition, but it just seems an odd thing to add if it doesn’t have any bearing on gameplay or cosmetics.

Don’t apologize, the comparison is valid.

I agree to some extent. But at least Beth is not involved with the remaster at all (right guys and gals?). Bethesda is still focused on the next Elder Scrolls.

Anway, 6 cores minimum. huh.gif Goodness. Surely this'll be ES6 as well.

Apparently it has to be installed on SSD, too.

Don't care about the "potato face" thing, whatever that is, but I've always wanted facial hair in TESIV.

Wow, this sounds great. Can we morph body sizes as well?

SWEET Oh wow. Now this could be a reason to check out Remastered. I'm more interested in content than making things prettier.

Sorry, I meant to include in number 3 that just like in classic Oblivion, there are only two bodies: feminine and masculine. No morphing.
