QUOTE(Kane @ Apr 23 2025, 01:51 PM) I might get it on Xbox Gamespass tonight, haven't decided. I wouldn't playing on console since there likely aren't going to be mods for a while.
That’s what I did. I pay for game pass, I might as well make use of it.

QUOTE(mirocu @ Apr 23 2025, 10:40 AM) The game industry seems to suffer from the same illness as the movie industry; constant remasters and reboots instead of new, interesting ideas/products.
yeah, that's a shame and it's getting worse. This post has been edited by macole: Apr 24 2025, 07:32 AM

QUOTE(TheCheshireKhajiit @ Apr 23 2025, 11:58 AM) QUOTE(Lena Wolf @ Apr 23 2025, 11:40 AM) Then those men with bears should better not set foot to the Shivering Isles because only Prince Sheogorath is allowed to have a beard. Insubordinance by lesser men is punishable by death, as one can learn if they were fortunate enough to find a certain skeleton Robert Wisnewski, a resident of Bliss (see: Death Decree). But I found Robert Wisnewski just recently. As for your character being Sheogorath; You have to complete the entire Shivering Isle quest to get that privilege. There are those, myself included, that never plan on becoming the Mad God. We must take care when visiting the Isle. One question though, I read on the UESP that the player character height is now the same for every race. NPCs will vary in height depending on their race, but the player character's height is always the same as an Imperial's no matter which race is chosen. Is that true? Not in the original Oblivion. I've had characters of different races and their height was consistent with the race. The player character is defined in the Constuction Set the same way as any NPC, race and physical characteristics included.

Finally got out of character creator.
1. Combat is different. No longer do you just swing your weapon as fast as you can doing the same strikes repeatedly. Now there’s a bit of a rhythm to it. Were once it was “swing, swing, swing, swing”, now it’s “swing, swing, flourish, pause (that leaves you open to counter attacks)”. You still power attack by holding down the melee attack button. Your health also regenerates on its own.
2. Doesn’t seem to be any fem-versions of the armors. My character is Brenna and when she tried on the rusty iron cuirass, it looked just like the male version in Oldblivion. I’m not a huge fan of that, to be honest, but it is probably “more realistic”.
3. Over-encumbrance does *not* make it to where you cannot move. You can now walk but not run. Praise Azura!!
4. The sewers look really gross, lol
5. The new zombies don’t seem quite as scary as the ones in Oldblivion.
6. The inventory, spell book, and journal have all been integrated into the pause menu.
7. You can sprint. Praise Azura!!

QUOTE(Kane @ Apr 24 2025, 07:26 AM) Did they keep the paper style journal and maps? I loved that charm.
The map looked the same to me. Like hand drawn. Not like the satellite GPS one in Skyrim. The menus have been changed a bit. For instance, instead of listing spells by school, they are now listed in your spell book by range. The first tab is self, the second is touch, the third is ranged, the 4th is a list of all spells regardless of range (I think, I can’t remember if there was another category). They all have the same vaguely similar appearance of the menus in Oldblivion. Just a bit cleaner maybe. This post has been edited by TheCheshireKhajiit: Apr 24 2025, 02:43 PM

It takes a little getting used to. Your muscle memory is telling you to do things one way, but the game wants it done a little differently. There’s a few little nitpicky things I’m not thrilled about (no fem-armor for one), but I’m trying to keep an open mind because some of the changes they’ve made are, imo, definitely improvements.

Yep, and maybe that is why they didn’t spend time on it. This will be a goldmine for “Creations”.
