Divines know that plenty modders certainly will!

I'll wait; I need to get a new GPU for this game anyways.

What is the blocking like? I ask because in original Oblivion and Skyrim you could block indefinitely. You just had to hold down the block key and would block until you let your finger off the key.

But in Fallout 4 the changed that, so that pressing the block key made your character go through the block animation for just a few moments, and then drop it. Holding down the key did nothing. It was impossible to maintain a blocking position for more than a second or two. So you had to time your blocks with the enemy's strikes, which really sucked. Ever since that, I have been dreading that Bethesda would do that with all the future games.

I'll definitely will have to get the game and a new laptop to go with it.

You can hold block down like before. Snuck about thirty mins of playtime in earlier. They didn't add torch blocking though, which I was hoping for.

As Kane said, it is more or less the same. I too am glad they didn’t go the Fallout 4 route for blocking.

I missed magic having it's own hotkey, too. I made a Breton nightblade and I love being able to cast a spell while holding a sword and torch.

Oh yeah, I guess it was shouts that caused that to have to be reworked.

Probably! I hadn't considered that but shouts/powers do suck up one of the few buttons on a controller.

Ooh, just noticed that they changed the wolf sounds! They don't yelp like a puppy anymore when you kill them. I really disliked that in the original.

I don’t like having to kill the animals at all really, but they are just so damn aggressive and their parts are so useful! This is one reason I like to have Illusion magic, lol.

I have begun my journey back into Oblivion with two of my favorite characters, the Imperial Crusader Arcius Letholas of Nibenay, and Silver-Tongue the Argonian Acrobat of the Imperial City. Been hitting all my nostalgia buttons~

It’s a really odd feeling for me. In a lot of ways it feels like the same old game we’ve been playing for decades now, but in a lot of other ways it feels like a new game. Like a really talented artist copying a work from one of the old masters. Both pieces are good but they have little differences that make them each unique.

The game is great fun! I always felt that Oblivion had 20% epic artwork but plenty of bland graphics as well. Now the game has epic texturing everywhere. It is such a pleasure to use Unreal now.

Walking to Chorrol and seeing those mountains towering behind is jaw-dropping!

Heaps of things are changed- some for better, some for worse.

Obviously the levelling system is a great relief to have it fixed. The UI is so different now. Getting to equipment tabs is so much easier (on XBox). Alchemy is weird and yuck compared to OG. Repairing equipment does not highlight the equipped items for easy reference. Yuck! And opening containers does not let you quickly tab to your items for exchange. It takes another button press.

I am also disappointed that the wolves audio file now plays the old dog audio. Perhaps a bug that will be patched? Not sure.

All up I am loving it and will sink many hours in. Hopefully some QOL patches will come to help fix things up.

It is a solid 8.5/10.

I'm cooking up a fanfic as we speak. After publishing my book and working my way through two others, I need a rest.

Also, the elves' eyes being really close together is not something I anticipated.

Wow, so nice to see this bringing back so many Chorrolites! Rihanae (now TrisRed), Arcry, Wolf, Liz!

I read that all characters you make are the same height, regardless of race. I would hope the command console would be able to adjust that since that's how I made Buffy so short in original OB.

@ Winter Wolf- I haven’t tried Alchemy yet (even though it’s a major skill for my current Breton witch lady indifferent.gif ). I agree about the container interface being worse. It would be nice if they streamline that a bit, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

The tutorial area is definitely worth spending more time in. The added level of detail is amazing, like the heap of rotten refuse where you find the iron shield, helmet, and warhammer, the little pools of nasty water where originally there was just stonework, and the water pouring out of the drains in the wall. I remember thinking at one point “I don’t want to step in that.” lol

@ Liz- Palonirya looks especially funny, but yeah most of the elves I’ve seen could have used a few bumps towards the “apart” side of the eye width slider laugh.gif

I think Macole also brought this up. It wasn’t super obvious to me, but I definitely did notice Rindir being a shorty, lol

The detail in some of this is indeed amazing. I was lol'ing at the jaw on the Goblin Shaman staff flopping open while I walked.

That staff looks badass now. Lol, I didn’t use it so I didn’t see the jaw moving. I had to revert back to my save just inside the gate to the outside world because I wasn’t quite happy with Brenna’s face (I turned the cheek and cheekbone flush all the way down and it looks like she had flour on her hands and just smeared her cheeks with it, lol), so I’ll check it out later!

@ TheCheshireKhajiit- You are spot on regarding the tutorial dungeon. The detail is staggering and is not just the same assets used over and over. I was a little disappointed that those huge grates on the floor (after the section where the Emperor dies) are only 2 feet deep. In the OG they were huge and bottomless and scared the life out of me. I always imagined they went to the middle of Nirn!

@ Kane- Ha! Yes, the goblin staff was a blast to see that jaw fall open. A very neat touch.

**

The NPC's are a real mixed bag in this game as well. Oh my gosh, Jensine is now so ugly and Edgar Vautrine has not fared much better. Vilena Donton has eye shadow and everything so that was a trip. And I like what they did with Jauffre, he now has an intensity that works so well with that character.

There is no sign of an interior map for the dungeons.....really missing that. I always used it to get every corner of those epic Oblivion dungeons explored.

edit- @Acadian- Yes, all the characters do feel quite short. I guess Buffy can now stand shoulder to shoulder with even the Orc warriors now, haha.

Kobby! Where is King of Beasts!

So overall sounds like Remastered is a good thing. Very cool. smile.gif

Good. I'm glad not everyone is pretty, that would bother me after a while.
