Go all the way to the top of the lighthouse and activate the brazier. That cremates poor Habd and gives you a little permanent bonus.

OK, from another thread, Missing in Action spoilers. How to legally obtain the evidence. I have not tried this, since the Battle-Borns were already threatening to smash Jensa's face in. Sigh.

It looks like the only completely legal way is to keep chatting with Idolaf Battle-Born until you pass his persuasion test. Then he'll spill the beans and give you the Imperial missive. Even if you're friends with the family and welcome in their home, you'd still have to break into the locked room to get the evidence.
