I don't understand what was up. I didn't throw anything up but bile, and my body kept trying to make ne puke up nothing. Once I got some ginger ale in me, it calmed down.

There's nothing strange about that. Vomiting is a defense mechanism against the consumption of toxins, to get them out of the body before they're further digested. By now it's pretty much hard-wired, thanks to evolution.

Unfortunately the body makes no distinction between a bad stomach caused by sickness, and a bad stomach caused by wating something harmful. So it treats both the same.

And ginger is said to be good for a bad stomach. Why I didn't remember that yesterday I haven't a clue.

So you said, but the thing is the body only has one response to a bad stomach, regardless of the cause of the bad stomach. It's the body reacting below the level of conscious thought.

Have you ever really gotten into a book, and found your heart beating faster during tense or exciting moments?

It's the same principle. You know it's just a book, but the body is simply responding to stimuli.
