Well, got another new character running. I've never managed a game as a pure mage; I tried first as a Breton born under the mage, who was too tough, and then an Altmer apprentice, who was the opposite side of the scale. So now I'm taking a crack at it with a Dunmer born under the mage, hoping for a sort of middle ground.
His name's Balamus Theryon, he's fresh in from Morrowind. He got tired of the petty squabbling between House Telvanni and the Mage's Guild, so he left House Telvanni and came to Cyrodiil.
Currently in Chorrol, about to start his recommendation quest.

QUOTE(Acadian @ Dec 1 2013, 12:59 AM) How did Lothran like the 'light himself up and charge in' approach?
Not nearly as fun as sneaking through the shadows for the first time but he thought as a Warlock he´d at least try it a couple of times. It worked better in Plundered Mine and I think he´s gonna do his usual routine in the ruins from now on QUOTE(Acadian @ Dec 1 2013, 12:59 AM) how did that new Targetfinder mace do?
Well, the potions nullified its light effect of course but otherwise it works fine. It´s a little underpowered but that is because he wanted more strikes per charge. Curse those small 1600 Grand gems!

Glad to see a new character in the works, CT. You must have gotten the deluxe edition of Oblivion. The cheap edition that mirocu and I got only lets us make one character without buying a new disc I think. * Buffy was clearing Haunted Mine as a favor for the Innkeeper of the nearby Drunken Dragon. Well, the goblin slaying was going fine till she got to the bottom of the mine and encountered a pit with half a dozen rats in it. They had apparently killed their goblin rat farmer and were into the large supply of lettuce, corn and carrots. Well, Buffy is always in the market for carrots (for Superian). . . . Now, she never underestimates rats. They weigh fully a quarter of what she does, are hard to hit, fast, can leap, and attack quickly. She was a bit concerned about using command or frenzy spells because the darn rats are so fast to target her. So. . . she decided to try a different type of spell. It does 3 fire damage for 1 second on target in a 100 foot area. Normally, she casts that to bring foes out from behind corners etc into a clear area where she can bring her bow or illusion spells to bear. She figured that 2 casts of the weak fire spell would kill all the rats. Well, the elf was right, but overlooked the basic effect of havoc physics and fire spells. After she rippled the spell twice into the pit, she was showered by ears of corn, heads of lettuce, carrots and even a couple of flying rat carcasses. She spent a good part of her evening at the Drunken Dragon getting bits of lettuce out of her outfit and hair. To top things off, her precious mare was not impressed with cooked carrots. No wonder Buffy’s an illusionist.

I´m surprised she didn´t fly backwards from the force released from her fingertips Lesson learned here: Don´t send a Buffy to do a Lothran job! -Hope you can make yourself a nice character, Callidus!

No wonder Buffy’s an illusionist. I am going to have to try a spell like that at some point, sounds too funny to pass up. And I'm now stuck with the mental image of a pile of corn, lettuce, and carrots, with just a pair of Bosmer ears sticking out the top. QUOTE(mirocu @ Dec 3 2013, 07:54 AM) -Hope you can make yourself a nice character, Callidus! I'm just hoping I can make one with a little more survivablility. He'll be turning up later, I'll probably edit an update about him into this post. I was going to take him through the tutorial, but ended up writing an intro sort of thing for him. Telindil has just staggered out of the Imperial City Sewers. He's a bit odd for a Spellsword. He's born under the Thief and wears light armour. And here's a couple of pics: 1 2(This one's a bit blurry) They're not great, and his eyebrows came out darker than I expected, not sure what happened there, but overall I'm happy with the look.
