Oh my. Your continued concern for my decrepit avatar and his companions humbles me. It is much appreciated. In honor of recent comments I shall, against my better judgment (to the extent I have a better judgment), pen a more descriptive accounting of his most recent adventures than is my norm. It need not be said that this sort of narrative is not my forte. (My father was an excellent story teller and a fine writer on those far too rare occasions when the muse possessed him, traits I alas did not inherit.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- What can one say about the gang's ride from Bravil to Imperial Bridge Inn? It was, for the most part, a fairly routine, mundane affair. North on the Green to Fort Akatosh turnoff. Across the Niben at Akatosh Bridge. Skirt the Fort itself. Continue east to the Yellow. Yada yada yada, so on and so forth. They battled a few nefarious beasts en route. None posed a serious challenge. (Criminal Scum, were any present, wisely kept out of sight.) Weather, overcast early on, soon cleared but never quite achieved the radiant brilliance which makes road travel so pleasurable. Nor is roadside scenery along that stretch of Yellow particularly impressive compared to, say, that seen along almost the entirety of the Silver as it ascends between Sercen and Bruma. Be that as it may, they reached their destination, collected taxes-due and, without pausing to refresh themselves, began their return to Weye. Riding north and west on the Yellow oft seems more enjoyable than the journey south. Why this is so I can not say. Scenery is, after all, unchanged, as was, in this particular instance, the weather. But enjoy themselves they did. (Not that they didn't enjoy themselves earlier. We're talking degrees of enjoyment here, not lack thereof.) All was smooth sailing until Corbolo River Bridge. Nearing it my avatar spied a corpse on the road just beyond the span. Close inspection showed it to be that of a wandering wizard. No trace of his killer was seen until my avatar noticed bright green plate some distance west along the river bank. Not being on official Legion duty, my avatar might well have given an outlaw so far off the beaten path a free pass. But murder an innocent? He can't ignore that. Tethering their mounts and Groucho, the crew made their way to the miscreant who, need it be said?, stood no chance against them. The ride betwixt there and the Imperial Isle was largely uneventful. They endured a number of hostile confrontations, again bestial rather than humanoid, only one of them worth mentioning. Still on the Yellow, not far northwest of the Fort Akatosh turnoff, they encountered a boar slowly ambling across the road. As they approached the creature it feigned indifference. Only as they pulled abreast of the beast did it change course and barrel toward them, aimed straight for Arrowspeed. My avatar somehow had the quickness of mind to immediately dismount, draw blade, and land three solid hits on the foe, dropping it in its tracks ere it reached its target. They crossed the east-side bridge onto the Isle late afternoon, skirting the Imperial City along Perimeter Road as the sun set. My avatar decided to break for a casual supper at the tavern just off Perimeter Road not far from Talos Bridge rather than sit through a lengthy formal meal at a crowded inn later on. No fancy imported booze at this tavern, thank you. He settled for an inexpensive yet flavorful Skingrad wine, along with bread, cheese, mutton and an onion with which he concocted a sandwich. He polished it off with a sweetroll, the only dessert on that night's menu. (I remind you that, when partaking at Tamriel's numerous dining establishments, my avatar always orders off the menu, feeling it discourteous to do otherwise. The sole exception; when an eatery is out of some important food group, as when Silverhome offered no drink at breakfast during their recent Bravil stay.) Hunger satisfied they crossed Talos Bridge in darkness, their way lit by torchlight and occasional firepots spaced at intervals along the span. Beasts tethered at the Weye stables, they at long last entered home. This might have ended their day. It was, after all, around 2030, a mere hour and a half before my avatar's preferred bedtime. But, during the ride home Vil expressed interest in going for a swim. With the night as pleasant as it was, could my avatar refuse? Apparently not. Indoors only long enough to change into civilian clothing they trudged to Lake Rumare's beach, stripped to swimming attire, and plunged in. Creature of habit that my avatar is, their swim followed its normal course out past Verona Village and back again. Home for good circa 2230 my avatar bid his ward goodnight and went straight to bed. He woke at about his customary time (0600) next morning, donned robe, hood and sturdy leather boots, breakfasted alone on his private third floor balcony, stuck his head in Vil's bedroom just long enough to light its fireplace, and walked to the Imperial City to gather assignments and turn in collected taxes-due. This is all standard operating procedure and thus not worth elaborating, up until he requested a new tax assignment. He was tasked to gather tax from Roxey Inn. Under normal circumstances he would have continued gathering assignments, returned to Weye, collected the gang, and headed out on patrol. Thing is, his upcoming patrol would be to Anvil. That being the case, it made sense to complete the Roxey run before committing to patrol. That's how he did it. Still clad in robes and leather boots he left White-Gold Tower, exited the City at Market District, changed into armor in the north-side bridge guard tower, and crossed Lake Rumare. Almost immediately after crossing he spotted a Minotaur Lord. He thought to bring it down by archery. Only, he miscalculated distance. The beast was closer than it seemed. My avatar got in one solid hit. The Minotaur quickly recovered and charged. My avatar got off but one further shot, which hit home but did little damage, before the foe was upon him. He took a bit of a trouncing ere he managed to lock sword and shield in place and finish off the brute. Several self-heals later he resumed his walk to Roxey. Approaching Red Ring Road scant seconds later, he noticed an orc outlaw barreling toward him along the Silver. Bringing sword and shield to the ready he marched toward his adversary. As is his custom with humanoid foes he allowed the orc first strike, easily deflected by shield. My avatar replied in kind, getting off two swings in rapid succession, both of which found their target. Several like exchanges followed. At this point my avatar heard the sound of rapidly approaching footsteps to his right (Sercen). Shield up he pivoted toward the sound, to block a claymore stroke from a second orc. There followed what I, as a not quite unbiased observer, consider a masterful display of swordsmanship as my avatar managed to block or out maneuver every incoming attack while connecting almost all his own. Before long one orc dropped to the ground, followed soon thereafter by the other. Neither rose. My avatar gathered their two claymores and resumed his trek to Roxey, which was reached without further incident. Tax collected, he retraced his steps to White-Gold Census Office, turned in gathered tax, and was given a new assignment, this time for Brina Cross Inn, a perfect match for his upcoming Anvil patrol. He then walked next door, grabbed the Anvil assignment, left the Tower, solicited Merchants Guild delivery in Talos District, exited the City, crossed Lake Rumare via Talos Bridge, entered the manor, joined Vilja for an informal lunch in the manor dining hall, had her change into travel gear, roused Golfgang and, when last seen, was about to depart home for their ride to the Gold Coast. Due to the late start they will almost certainly spend the night at Skingrad's Fighters Guild hall. If not there, they'll likely camp at roadside west of the city. (Note to self. While in Skingrad they need to have Tamika remind them where her current wine consignment is to be delivered.) This post has been edited by Decrepit: Sep 11 2016, 03:04 PM

I am glad you're back with Decrepit too, especially that you've carried his updates from Beth to here. There's something comforting about his presence in Cyrodiil. Joan of Arkay (my Breton witch & undead hunter) is now walking from Chorrol to Bruma. She'll buy a horse in Bruma, I think. Long journey. This post has been edited by Renee: Sep 11 2016, 02:41 AM

Late evening. Leyawiin. Three Sisters. My decrepit avatar and his ward are about to exit the inn following a bedtime snack. He will escort Vil to her accustomed berth in the Leyawiin Mages Guild Hall basement, then backtrack to the Fighters Guild to get what sleep he can before heading for Rockmilk first thing in the morning.
My avatar earned no laurels for combat prowess during their patrol until south of the Barrow Fields. Up till then he had let dangerous foes get the drop on them at least thrice and misaimed far too many arrows. Then, sun already set, he found his aim and drought down every target with a single shot, including small wisps at considerable distance. Two in-darkness melees came off reasonable well, though one cost him a torch that rolled into the Niben ere he could retrieve it.
Unlike most Leyawiin patrols, my avatar elected to NOT solicit shipping assignments for Bravil to be delivered en route, his thought being that forgoing the stop would see them at their destination at a reasonable hour. Turns out bypassing Bravil saved them no time whatsoever. No sure why. Luck of the draw, I reckon.
Between events alluded to above and those chronicled in my prior report they patrolled the Gold to Anvil, an uneventful affair under dreary overcast skies. As suspected, they spent the night at Skingrad's Fighters Guild Hall, my avatar forced to sleep in full armor thanks to an overzealous Legion regulation.
In Anvil they dined at The Count's Arms. Vil, bless her, mentioned before hand wanting nice quiet surroundings free of rowdiness. Yet rather than pick an out-of-the-way table she opted to sit on a bench at the entrance way, where off-duty local guild members tend to congregate after hours. Which is exactly what they did. It was so bloody noisy my avatar couldn't hear himself thing. So much for a relaxing repast.
Following a restful night at Benirus Manor they grabbed new delivery assignments, gobbled down a quick breakfast (Count's Arms again), rode the Gold east to Skingrad, took the Trail north to Chorrol, delivered goods, transferred spoils from Groucho's packs to Champion's Second-Hand Sales and Service (Buy from the name you know and trust.) shoppe coffers, rode to Weye, downed a quick meal at the Wawnet, returned to the Manor, and called it a day.
Next morning my avatar woke some minutes before 0600, breakfasted on his third-floor private balcony, changed into travel attire, walked to the Imperial City, gathered assignments, returned to Weye, collected the gang, and hit the road for Leyawiin.

QUOTE As suspected, they spent the night at Skingrad's Fighters Guild Hall, my avatar forced to sleep in full armor thanks to an overzealous Legion regulation Renee Gade III totally gets what you mean by this. She always takes her armor off, unless she's sleeping outside. ----------------------- Level: 10 Days Passed: 189 Active Quests: 31 Quests Cmpleted: 57 (a lot of these are shorty experiments though!) Tirdas, 7:21 am, 4th Era Year 21A black bow renegade bandit broke into the room Renee had rented, and attacked her and Jada while still asleep. Felrika was the first to react, and between them all (Renee had pulled her flaming great sword by then) they took care of the guy. A town guard joined in the fun after the bandit ran out the room. Later on while Renee ate the dinner she had skipped 11 hours before, it seemed like half the inn's patrons wanted to come in RG3's rented room, to have a look at the dead bandit! They all came in at once. (this actually happened. I know this is mod-added behavior, but I've ever seen anything like it before.) Renee goes to the Mage's Guild, buys some potions, and buys a Dispel spell. But nobody is around who can recharge her sword. She decides to wait awhile. Has an ale. It is nice to wake up to warm air in the dead of winter, but Renee decides she'll immeidiatly head north, this time using the Yellow Road (east side of the Niben). Plenty of chances for black bow bandits to confront her and her crew, if they dare. Stopped in Blankenmarch and paid a Breton there 51 gold to watch the horse. There's a fort nearby, and it's likely to hold enemies. This post has been edited by Renee: Sep 14 2016, 02:04 AM

My decrepit avatar, his ward and their wolf are about to exit Weye Manor, reclaim their mounts and Groucho and begin a patrol of the Green to Leyawiin, with stop en route to deliver a shipping consignment in Bravil.
You might notice that the gang is setting out on a patrol which, in my previous report, they had only just completed. Sadly, sometime between then and this afternoon the game began crashing more and more frequently. These crashes mostly occurred the first time the gang zoned through a door after having made a save, assuming the game wasn't exited and relaunched between save and zone. Twice it crashed during the save process itself, corrupting those saves. By this afternoon crashing while zoning following a save was pretty much constant.
I've added no new mods in ages. My a-bomb counter is a comfortably safe 16%, as measured by Wrye Bash. Bash found no bloating within those saves.
I had, however, experimented with ENBoost, a supposed game stabilizer and performance enhancer, several days ago, but soon removed it because it exacerbated objectionable micro-stutters when traveling near a graphically demanding area such as the Imperial City. Not sure why ENBoost would cause problems. It does not install in the data folder. Nor does it alter Oblivion.ini. Still, it's all I had to go on. I'm not sure exactly when I installed/removed ENBoost, but the downloaded file dates 9/13/2016. To be safe I removed all saves created after 9/12/2016, which saw the gang ready to exit Chorrol, where they had gone following their Anvil patrol to restock their Second-Hand Sales shoppe.
I hope I don't jinx myself by stating that, between exiting Chorrol and now, the game has not crashed, despite numerous saves and zonings.
The saddest thing about losing all those saves is that they include one of the most immersive romps through RockMilk I ever witnessed. On the other hand, their ride up the Yellow on the way home stank to high heaven, one unimmersive event after another in fairly rapid succession from start to finish.

Really sorry about those problems, and hoping that removing the "boost" fixed them. RockMilk Cave is my favorite cave in Oblivion. After saving the realm ... er, I mean completing the main questline with Maxical, the bandits of RockMilk cave suddenly became friendly to Maxical! Since they weren't attacking her, (in fact, said they were honored by her presence!) - she couldn't very well start killing them! So Maxical's days of cleaning house at RockMilk Cave ended, though she can now step in there to eat or sleep with the bandits (not sleep with them, of course - I mean in that tent). *I am SO enjoying having Decrepit and Vilja updates back !!!!* * This post has been edited by mALX: Sep 17 2016, 08:12 AM

No worries Cain. Glad you are here at Chorrol. Coffee is good. ---------------- I have been doing a daily diary sort of thing with Xena Gade aka Renee Gade III, and she just began doing the Order of Virtuous Blood quests, which branches off into a mod-added set of quests called Vampire Hunter. Early Evening, Sun's Dawn 23, 4th Era Year 21Days Passed: 181 Rather warm day, finally. Renee breaks into Roland Jenseric's house with the key Seridur gave to her. Gabrielle follows, mostly because she's been bored for weeks just hanging around the Imperial City while her friends have all been gone. Jada (Renee's faithful dark elf archer) also comes along. Jada's skills mostly involve lockpicking during this portion of the quest. Roland's got a chest with a 4-tumbler lock on it? No problem. Jada can handle it. Renee also expects that Roland will be there, still asleep since the sky is still light outside. She rushes from Seridur's house to her horse, changes into her favorite armor suit (pic) and grabs two flaming swords (two-handed and one-handed, respectively), and then rushes to Roland's house, expecting to find the vampire still asleep. But he is nowhere to be seen. After some searching, she finds some sort of a love letter, one which tells of a 'cabin in the woods'. This post has been edited by Renee: Sep 30 2016, 01:37 AM

My gosh you guys are silly today. Sundas, Sun's Dawn 24Cool & foggy morning. Spent most of the day indoors, sleeping and taking it easy. Went into the Market District's bath house once again at around noon, then visited Goddess Store in late afternoon. By then it seemed a storm was about to brew, though it never kicked in, really. Renee stopped by the bank before going to Goddess Store. She withdrew 1,000 gold (leaving over 4,000 in savings), then bought a pair of Apachi Girl Boots (186 gp), a feather headdress (146), Medieval Black Dress (292), then had her nails done for 292 gold. She even bought Gabrielle a green dress. Best of all (from a combat perspective) she learned that one of the Goddesses in the top portion of the store can repair magical armor, and can also recharge items. At ANY time. No more waiting around mage's guilds for hours, waiting for an enchanter to come off his extended lunch break! (My gosh, the variety of things to buy & wear in this place are endless! I'd post some pics, but they'll have to wait a few, maybe until tomorrow). This post has been edited by Renee: Oct 1 2016, 02:34 AM
