Hey, Saks! You're a Murican and so you should be able to verify this, said by an alleged fellow Murican: Jelly = No fruity bits Jam = Small, pasty fruity bits Preserves = Big fruity bits True or False??

QUOTE(Sakiri @ Nov 26 2020, 11:36 AM) Bummer you don't get to see him.
I'm just enduring food coma myself.
Gotta ask, how does one make sugar free jam?
The sheer amount of sugar you use to make jam, using that much artificial sweetener, I'd have the runs just thinking about eating it. :/
It comes down to picking your poison, I suppose. One thing about artificial sweeteners, unless I've overlooked something they don't (normally?) contribute to tooth decade, which sugar certainly does. Of course the foods/drinks they are partnered with might well negate that. But then it's still less risky, tooth wise, than those same foods/drinks with sugar. QUOTE(Sakiri @ Nov 26 2020, 01:28 PM) Technically jelly is made using juice rather than whole fruit. I've never actually known a difference between jam and preserves. The jam here has giant horking strawberry chunks in it though.
Well, here you go:
In jelly, the fruit comes in the form of fruit juice. Jelly has the smoothest consistency and is usually clear. In jam, the fruit comes in the form of fruit pulp or crushed fruit. This makes jam less stiff than jelly. In preserves, the fruit comes in the form of chunks in a gel or syrup. Preserves will have more fruit in them than jam will. Marmalade is a type of preserve with citrus fruits in it.
Yeah, it's confusing. Articles I've read on the subject often contradict each other.
