QUOTE(Renee @ Nov 14 2023, 10:27 PM) Well my Fallout 3 season continues. I've done my thing for so long I just cannot imagine continuing playing Fallout 3 after October QUOTE(Renee @ Nov 14 2023, 10:27 PM) Yep, he's headed for Anchorage. Although not really, right? Operation Anchorage is some sort of simulation, right?
In case you don't want to actually know.

BREAKING NEWS Wednesday, 05.12.78, 1:37 PM: Cho Zen Wan found Dogmeat, wandering around near Rivet City. I've been playing Cho's game since 2013. Not sure if he ever met the dog before, but he must've right? Because Dogmeat is usually found somewhere else. 🐶 Anyway, Cho's decided to have the dog follow him around, along with his three-man C-team. Whoa to any who cross their path!

Awesum, glad Mirocu has rejoined Janet and Cho. You're complaining about reloading? That's easy to change; literally find the weapon in the GECK, and probably only need to change one setting, or flag the gun so there is no limit. But I know you ain't gonna do that. In Janet's game it is March 29, 2278 (ahem, her Pipgirl's display is currently purple). She just discovered Fordham Flash Memorial Field, which is a baseball diamond. Baseball, there are four bases to run around, and currently there's a raider running to each base, around and around the diamond, as though he's wacked-out on Psycho. I checked Fandom to make sure this is vanilla, and sure enough one of the raiders does run from base to base. " By sneaking up to the field unnoticed and managing to stay undetected, one can observe the raiders playing "baseball," which consists of one or more of the raiders continuously running the bases." Well Janet doesn't have to sneak, since she's wearing raider armor, they think she's "one of them". So playing 'baseball' is what the two raiders are doing as she approaches. Yeah, I know that grate you speak of, Cho fell into one while doing Broken Steel. But Wait, so what happened? There are normally deathclaws down in Old Olney, and I'm almost positive they respawn. So did Mirocu have to deal with those? Funny thing: in real-life, Olney is a unadventurous, respectable town where nothing much happens! Is never in the news like Baltimore or D.C. is, here are some examples. I've been switching from Janet to Cho each week, with Sunday being the cut-off. Cho was last week. He is in the process of Rebuilding the Wasteland, literally that's the name of the mod. The idea is: once Broken Steel is done, he gets called to Andrews Air Force Base (which is taken over by the Brotherhood) to "help" rebuild the wasteland. Super Duper Mart and several other places get rebuilt into something other than raider / monster hangouts. The catch is, Cho must donate almost all the caps he makes, since he is literally, probably the only person making significant amounts of money other than probably Tenpenny. So while Mirocu is making mad amounts of cash, Cho is still one paycheck away from poverty at all times!

Falling through the grate wasn't, but no biggie. It meant I got to see an area I haven't seen in years and kill more Deathclaws

I like to think of Fallout 3 as post-apocalyptic, and New Vegas as ... not so much so. The lore hounds (especially those who think FO3 is "not a true Fallout game") point out that 200 years after the war D.C. would not be as torn up as what's portrayed in-game, as though the war happened just a few years ago; there'd be at least some development back toward the way society was. I'm inclined to disagree. Without heavy machinery especially, ability to draw fossil fuels so that generators/bulldozers/cranes (etc.) as well as larger populations of learned people who know how to use all that stuff, there's no way the Wasteland can be built up even partially to where it was. Also, I like to assume that up until recently, the CW has been too irradiated and/or full of monsters, to the point where what we're seeing in-game (populations of raiders and wastelanders returning) is somewhat of a recent thing. However, I do believe foliage would come back. Trees and grasses would return. It's Maryland/Virginia/D.C., I live here! and the flora is pretty lush, especially if we're talking grasses & weeds. If animals can return (okay... monsters) than so can plants, which would adapt to the extra rads. So lately I have been adding some minimal examples of green into my game. Overall, I find FO3 to be more "fun", especially with humor which is both intentional and unintentional. New Vegas is the more "serious" game, which sticks closer to the lore found in FO1 & 2. My opinions, of course. But to point an example, I find myself laughing & rolling on my bed in stitches any time a robobrain begins trying to find my character! Or some of the PreWar billboards in the from the past, which extol how wonderful life is supposed to be. I almost never actually laugh while playing New Vegas, not that the game should be a comedy. It should not. I'm just outlining why I enjoy 3 more. [AHEM] on topic. Yea, I know. Did some gaming with Janet Telia yesterday, she's headed toward Old Olney to take care of Old Macdonald, an NPC added by Lopov's Enemies of the Wastes. She's been to Old Olney before, there's NO WAY she's going back in there, for obvious reasons. So instead she's been trying to skirt around the place, keeping well away from any deathies which happen to stray outside their usual zones. This post has been edited by Renee: Apr 22 2024, 07:40 PM

QUOTE(SubRosa @ Apr 22 2024, 05:01 PM) Years ago I started using a mod for FO3 that adds a lot of green foliage to the entire place. As we know from long term studies around Chernobyl, some tree and plant species will die within days of high radiation exposure. But most will not, and some will thrive. Not necessarily because of the radiation, but because the humans are no longer around. The same with animals. I also have a mod that adds little farm patches to the settlements in the Capital Wasteland. Basically just patches of corn within them to show that people are doing some subsistence farming. That also feels more right. When you call it the CW I keep thinking of Supergirl and the Flash... I know, right? Family Feud and Penn & Teller's Fool Us, I think, as well. Oooh, can you let me know the names of those greenery mods? Is Greenworld one of them? If so, I've got Greenworld already, although I'm not turning it "on" until summer. Janet just arrived to MacDonald's Farm, and just witnessed Old MacDonald (or one of his guards ) getting attacked by TWO radscorps! 🦂 Cho already did this quest before but he botched it. He did not save the Regulator gal he was supposed to save. Janet, hopefully, will get things right.
