QUOTE(Acadian @ Feb 15 2023, 11:14 AM) Very nice, mALX. Good choice on not too big for your hands but still a decent caliber.
Thank you! It does fit in my hands well; though just a little heavy. . QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 15 2023, 11:26 AM) Very nice, mALX! Just the gun I wanted to get in CO2 version but didn't. Is it .40?
I read something about stopping power not being a thing but as a hunter I reject that notion. A higher caliber makes more damage quicker so the nervous system shuts down faster, resulting in death. Having been in the military, what's your take, Acadian?
Thank you, Mirocu! (It is a 9mm). It has two extra clips that I use with full metal jackets (for target practice). The clip on board is hollowpoints (talk about "stopping power!"). It has three extra grips; but the one that is on it is the one I like best. It also came with the lock and an invitation from Smith & Wesson to join the NRA; lol. It was a nice little package Smith & Wesson put out. It shoots straight enough with the right hand on it (in other words, not mine, lol).

QUOTE(mALX @ Feb 15 2023, 10:07 AM) Okay, here are a couple pics of my gun: https://imgur.com/a/brp3kcHI only shot it one time = target practice in the brother-in-law's back yard. It is LOUD, and has a powerful kick back, lol. Nice mALX! My pistol is one of these also! QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 15 2023, 11:15 AM) 9 mill is good enough I suppose. Same caliber as the classic kpist we had in the military up to the '80s or so. Could be wrong. Shot that thing many years ago, quite good fun and no kick from it being basically a small rifle but man was it hard not to squeeze the trigger too much so it went *BRRRRP* and the mag was empty SMG!

The 9mm with hollowpoints will stop anything coming at me if I am ever strong enough to cock the damn thing, lol. I used to have a 9mm Ruger, and loved it = actually liked it better than this S&W.

I think mALX made a great choice. Given the short barrel, the gun is obviously for short range and that is where stopping power is king. 9mm with hollowpoint will do the job without knocking mALX around disrupting her ability to fire again if needed. Stopping power is different than killing power and critical at short range. An M-16 is only 5.56 caliber but it packs an OMG muzzle velocity. The small, slender bullet reaches target very quickly and ignores wind. With its pointed nose and super velocity, it not only has long range accuracy but can hit a foe in the hip, tumble several times inside the body (because the small bullet is so easily deflected) and exit out the shoulder - plenty of killing power. Low stopping power though in that, though it will kill really well, it may not instantly stop (the momentum) of a large foe charging at close range. QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 15 2023, 02:24 PM) Interesting points there, Acadian. I think what you said last was what I had in mind with regards to stopping power; can the caliber in question stop someone's momentum quick enough for the threat to be neutrilized at a close range. As a hunter I had a bear or wolf in mind. Or a xenomorph. You did bring up the interesting thing about small calibers tumbling inside the body, I guess that's a characteristic of the .22LR as well? I've heard for and against that caliber for self defense with those against it talking about stopping power not being there and those for talking about killing power, what you said basically. The problem I see here is that while it can get rid if the threat it may take awhile and by then it can be too late. And then we can talk about shot placement and the sun's position relative to Jupiter and all the rest of it You made me think here, that's no small feat. Thanks, Acadian Here in the southern US, alligator hunters use .22LR because they have just enough power to penetrate a ‘gator’s skull, but when it gets in there it tends to bounce around a bit. Scrambled gator brains anyone?

QUOTE(mirocu @ Feb 16 2023, 11:40 AM) That is a proper nice gun! Can't wait to take it out to my Brother-in-Law's farm and test it out on his outdoor shooting range.
