Yeah.

It was decommissioned when husband put in a pellet burning furnace 10 or so years ago. It was just sitting on the floor in the basement. Builders managed to get it out.

How old was it?

Not sure. Late 60s install perhaps? Pellets were cheaper so he had it replaced.

That'd make it probably almost 50 years old at least. He said the temperature regulator was broken. He replaced it shortly after he moved in.

Welp...this morning was a bust! Both the memory cards and processor where compete duds. Looks like I'll be returning them tomorrow for a refund and going back to console gaming. I ain't going back down this road again

If you don’t mind me asking, and maybe you’ve already answered this elsweyr (), but what kind of CPU did your pc come with and what kind of CPU did you try and change to? Also, where did you get your new parts?

I was trying to upgrade my processor from a Ryzen 3 to a Ryzen 5 but when I tried to install the R5 and boot up the computer it simply wouldn't boot up. As for the memory card, they're 16 GB (or x2 for 32gb two pack) but when I tried booting up the system I got an memory failure alert on both cards.

Pretty much. I got all the old stuff like memory card and processor put back on and it booted up like a charm. I probably just got unlucky and got defective stuff. Anyway I'm taking them back tomorrow for a refund and if something goes south knowing my luck we'll see if their tech department can work on my PC and get it working like I want it.

I’ve looked up some things and it might be that you just need to do a little troubleshooting. Apparently these kind of issues are common when trying to upgrade a pc. Maybe start with the ram since it’s less troublesome to work with. Here is a post about memory upgrade troubleshooting that looked helpful.

You’re welcome. I just hate it’s giving you trouble, but I didn’t want to see you give up so quickly if there was a chance some troubleshooting would be helpful.

Yeah it's a common issue unfortunately. Just don't give up that easily. I'm sure you can get it figured out, especially if khajiit is helping.

I wouldn't take the parts back for a refund just yet, I'd take the whole dang thing in and make them do it myself. I'm like that though. My latest computer I bought pre built because I can't be bothered putting parts together.
