A bath, some wine and a bit of pontificating about Divine essences that eventually leads to a task: Recover the Moon Reaver.

20250819 I-Stranded Light Moon Reaver, Capstone Cave

A day after speaking to Firukuruzk we left Bruma to find the first junction to acquiring the Moon Reaver. First stop the nearby Capstone Cave. The cave was so close that from the entrance one could see Apple Watch to the west, Rielle to the north, and Bruma to the east.

There was evidence of occupation outside the cave’s entrance but how recent the activity we couldn’t tell. Inside Capstone Cave, everything, from the ceiling above us to the floor beneath our feet was encased in ice. This made footing treacherous for everyone except Kaleah. She just extended her talons to get a firm grip the ice.

Geez, I’m going to have to repair those boots again.

Progressing cautiously we made it to a trapper’s camp, a wooden platform raised high above the icy floor. We were investigating, searching for a red key, when we were approached by eight Skyrim trappers. They didn’t ask questions but immediately attacked.

What is it with Nords from Skyrim? The way they’ve been acting since the emperor’s assassination you’d think they were the vanguard of a Nord invasion. Yeah right, a Nord rebellion, like that’s ever going to happen.

But then again, perhaps they are because their first reaction was to fight. Within minutes, five lay dead on the floor, one fled through the exit to the right, and at least two fled down a tunnel to the left.

During our pursuit of the Nord that fled through the east tunnel, we came across an amazing sight. Someone had erected a towering arch (Better Dungeons) in Capstone Cave. It didn’t look like Ayleid construction. In fact it could have been an Arch of Triumph had it been on the Imperial City Isle.

There’s a door at the base of the left tower. It’s locked, requiring a key to get in. Unable to open the tower door we left the tower wondering who built this arch and why.

Our search for Firukuruzk’s Red Key in the east end of Capstone Cave has come up empty. Returning to the Skyrim camp we continued our search in the western half of Capstone Cave. Knowing that two hostile Nords from Skyrim had fled this way, we proceeded cautiously.

We encountered a few more hostile Nords in a small chamber of the cave. They were easily taken care of. Unexpectedly, just outside entering the door to the Capstone Grand Cavern we encountered two bandits with a MOO bounty on their heads. Cornered they braced for the fight.

The two wanted criminals V’orht and Dul gro-Ulfish were no slouches in the fight department. It took a considerable effort to claim V’orht’s shoes and Dul gro-Ulfish’s gauntlets as proof of their demise.

The western half of Capstone Cave now subdued we searched the entire section for the Red Key, once again coming up empty. Firukuruzk’s red key must be deeper in the cave complex, we entered Capstone Cave’s Grand Cavern.

A short ice-covered tunnel opened to the Skyrim Nord’s operation headquarters. Thirteen Nord trappers attacked us en masse, forcing me to call on the usual reinforcements to handle the situation.

The battle over, we search everywhere for the red key. Found a lot of gold but no key. Franticly we raced back and forth through the complex. Running past a fallen tower in our search we completely ignored its unusual design. So intent were we in our search for the red key that the similarity between this collapsed tower and the arch we found earlier didn’t register.

A tunnel took us to the top of the cavern. Here a shelf ran the entire circumference of the Grand Cavern, overlooking the operation below. Up here we found two Ayleid stepstones. Close by the stepstones was a very strange object that reminded me of a brick oven. Curiosity got me to try opening it. It wouldn’t open and we went back searching for the Red Key.

We didn’t give the oven thing or the two tower structures a second thought as we raced through the entire Capstone Cave complex searching for the missing Red Key. We must have gone through the entire cave system at least three times.

I was at a loss and about ready to give up, when we found, hidden by several large rocks and stalagmites, an unopened chest. Furthermore, hidden behind the chest sat a tiny “inscribed jewelry box” with a very hard lock.
How many times had we run past this site while not seeing this chest? Sure its coloration blended in with the cave’s features but still that was of little defense to my Ladies scrutiny.

Making the necessary preparations, I cast the spell to open the jewelry box and there nestled like a pearl in a clam sat the Red Key.

There are you happy now?”

With great relief and joy often comes a great tiredness. We decided to spend the night at the camp in the Grand
Cavern, where there were enough beds for everyone. In the morning we’ll travel to Belda where Firukuruzk told us she had hidden a second key. Now that I know what kind of box she has placed the keys in, the Purple Key should be easier to find.

I hope.

'Find the key in Capstone Cave' turned into a needle in a haystack-esque affair! Finally, success however. As you say, hopefully the next key will be less elusive.

20250905 I-Stranded Light Moon Reaver

According to the map, Belda is just north of Roland Jenseric’s cabin. It was an uneventful walk down the Silver Road to the Ring Road. Turning left, we continued east until we reach a trail leading up the hillside.

The trail up the hill was actually at one time a grand Ayleid staircase leading to Belda. Parts of it still remain. We passed the remains of a still smoldering Oblivion Gate, an Ayleid well and when we neared the top of the hill the trail split.

To the left lay the marble gates of Belda; to the right a grand three-story manor (Belda Elysium Revisited).

It was late in the day the choices were; enter Belda and fight for a bed or we could approach the house with the hopes the owner would offer us a more comfortable and civilized lodging for the night. The looks I got when I turned to ask told all I needed to know. Unfortunately the door was locked requiring a key, and no one answered the door to let us in.

(The version of Belda Elysium installed uses a replacer ESP (Belda Elysium Revisited) that delays activation until MQ05. Sad to say it didn’t trigger properly (operator/installer error?). I could break in using console command UNLOCK but the quests and some features are disabled.)

Of course I could use ancient Fay magic to unlock the door. I tried to explain that we didn’t know who lives here and how it didn’t feel right to just break into someone’s house.

The looks I got said, “What? You’ve doing that for years.”

“Please my Jandaga, do it for us,” Elenya pleaded. “You won’t regret it.”

They were right. Once inside we found three letters and three keys on a table. One letter assigned full deeds and ownership of the house commissioned by the Emperor Uriel Septim VII for someone named the Savior of Tamriel to me as I read it. The other two described features of the house. Similar letters are found on each of the four floors. All letters were signed Raimyr El'Eluril, Chief Custodian of the Crown.

Beaming with pride my Ladies straitened up when they read Savior of Tamriel. Yes, to the Ladies bragging rights is everything. Sometimes I think it’s the old ‘if you’re going to run with me, you better be somebody’ sort of thing.

Elysium Manor is a very nice three story house with a full basement. It’s got everything you could want. There’s ample storage, display cases, a lockable room for making spells and enchanting items, a lockable gated vault. The master bedroom on the top floor has its own private bath and its own alchemy station. Down in the basement there’s a guest room, a kitchen, servant quarters, and a bathroom. Best of all it has two baths and three double beds.

Something interesting and unusual was found in the Magus Room, the Orbs of Elysium. The two steaming glowing orbs sitting on the desk function like Mages Guild spellmaking and enchanting alters.

“Where did they get these?” I asked.

No one knew for sure. Could they be crystals from a falling star or are they from one of the moons. Elenya favored Secunda.

I pondered that question as I took a nice hot bath.

The next morning we left Belda Elysium Manor. We took a quick tour of the property before heading next door to Belda the Ayleid ruin. Within Belda Elysium we saw an Ayleid fountain, a garden, stables, and a nice seating area with a great view east over the Blue Road.

Entering the Ayleid ruin Belda we progressed down a staircase and hallway to the first intersection. We like in Capstone Cave we turned right. A short distance later we stepped into a small room. Unlike Capstone Cave we meticulously inspected every nook and cranny. The only thing we found was a small jewelry box. This was exactly what we were looking for.

With the purple key now in hand, I was about to suggest we leave straight away for Fort Entius when Kaleah said she didn’t like the smell coming from the other side of Belda.

“Free roaming Daedra of the evil kind,” Kaleah said. “The antithesis of Stranded Light is here, my Feache. I’m sure our Stranded Light friends would approve.”

So, with Elenya’s and Pym’s approval we purged Belda of 12 persistent Daedra, 3 golems, and 9 conjurers. It was exactly as Kaleah said it would be. Belda turned out to be the dark opposite of Merendin and the Stranded Light.

A couple things stood out in Belda. One was the location of four Ayleid stepstones. Their location near a rising floor trap resulted in having to cross the floor trap in order to reach Belda’s exit. When a casual step hopper appeared and walked off toward the exit, we watched in horror as the floor shot up and smashed against the ceiling.

To our amazement, the floor came back down and the stepper stood up and calmly walked up the steps to the exit.

When this happened a second time, I turned to my Ladies and commented, “They must be using some sort of ‘Essential’ spell.”

Deeper in Belda Lor we entered a room containing a Varla stone cage. This room was occupied by several conjurers and free-walking Daedra not bound by a summons.

One conjurer in particular was accompanied by a naked Daedra Seducer. It was like looking in a mirror. The second that Kaleah and I starred at our evil twins felt like hours. My mind raced with strange thoughts of string theory and particle entanglement. If we kill them, do we die too?

Kaleah didn’t give it much thought. She just locked eyes with the Seducer and for the briefest of moments they starred at each other.

With a nod to me the Daedra Seducer still eye-locked with Kaleah sneered, ‘You bring me gift?”

"Ah, hahahahahahahahaaa,” Kaleah laughed. She then replied in her natural daedric tongue (I use a daedric font in my copy). “To the victor. Come, come kill me if you can, you naked little minx!”

Sounded like pretty tame insult to me but the Daedric Seducer went ballistic. The two flew at each other and fought like wildcats until Kaleah stood as victor. In the meantime, Elenya, Pym and I took care of several conjurers and few more Daedra.

Kaleah clapped me on the back, laughed and said, “Sometimes you think too much, Feache.”

After that battle the encounter in the final room was rather anticlimactic. The Sanctuary of the Adept with two adept conjurers, three golem servants, and a summoned Markynaz Dremora was an interesting encounter, but not difficult.

Belda, the Ayleid ruin taken care of we spent another peaceful night at Belda Elysium.

From Belda, per Firukuruzk’s instructions we are directed to Fort Entius near the head waters of the Silverfish River. We’ve passed by Fort Entius many times. We know where it is but we’ve never entered it.

It was late in the afternoon when we arrived at Fort Entius. We were about to open the door and enter when we heard a thunderous noise coming from the nearby wooden bridge. We turned to see an Imperial Huntsman chasing a herd of deer across the bridge.

We watched for a while before turning our attention back to Fort Entius. Entering Fort Entius we advanced unopposed along the corridor until we came to a balcony overlooking a flooded room below. A bridge crossed the gap to a balcony on the other side. Two iron gates presented us with a choice. Do we take the gate on the right or the gate on the left?

Using common dungeon diving logic we chose the door on the right. There wasn’t much down this way. A handful of Daedra and couple of flooded rooms containing locked chest. Unable to cast unlock spells underwater we left them alone.

Back at the crossroad we opened the gate on the left. This path led directly to the door of Fort Entius Sepulcher. For a long distance, Sepulcher’s hallway was quiet. There was no indication of enemy activity as we walked along. Lulled into a false sense of security we were caught with our guard down when we turned a corner and came face to face with a Clannfear, a hell hound, a scamp and a Water Golem from OOO.

The sounds of battle brought four conjurers from around the corner to the hallway. Two MOO Plane Summoners closely followed by an OOO Keeper of the Realms and Fallaise Acicius from MOO. As they rounded the corner the four conjurers summoned additional Daedra to their cause.

The summoned Daedra didn’t help the conjurers prevail but it did make for a colorful battle.

Up a staircase from the vanquished conjurers we came upon a balcony room overlooking the lower level. From the number of chests in this area we surmised that this is where the defeated conjurers stored their treasures

One spot was of particular interest. Placed on a shelf to the right of the entrance were all the things a mage might want to experiment with Daedra summoning; a beating Daedra heart, bleeding bloodgrass, Daedra teeth, soul gems, etc.

Also sitting on the shelf were two chests, an Elegant Chest and a Rune Inscribed Chest. Err; you might say one chest as OOO and I-SL try to put a chest in the same spot. Only a corner of OOO’s Elegant Chest can be seen protruding out of the Stranded Light’s Rune Inscribed chest.

Opening the Rune Inscribed chest with the purple key we retrieved the Moon Reaver.

Having claimed the Moon Reaver we went about looting the other chests in the area. I was in the back when Pym came running excitedly grabbed me by the arm and began pulling me to follow her.

Pym led me to corner to the left of the entrance and there on the floor sat a Sphere or Hate (Phitt’s Artifacts).

Now with the Moon Reaver and the Sphere of Hate as a bonus safely tucked away in the Midas Chest it was time to return to Merendin. Casting the spell the magic swirled around us and we left Fort Entius.

Back at Merendin most everyone had no comment about the sword. Only Karashivuel showed any concern about having found Moon Reaver.

“You've found it?” Karashivuel asked with a resigned disappointment in her voice. “Oh well, better you than, say, anyone else. Nevertheless some things should be kept at the bottom of the ocean. This weapon is one of them.”

Why? Don’t know. While Karashivuel is probably right about the weapon being better off lost forever, I’m just not sure the bottom of the ocean is a good place. The thought of some Dreugh finding Moon Reaver gives me the shivers.

Some dungeons provide a crude campsite outside for replenishing oneself before entering. Belda provides an entire mansion! And the final key it seems.

And Fort Entius yields the Moon Reaver.

20250918 Belda Better Dungeons puzzle - Fiona goes Nord tossing

With the Moon Reaver safely filed away in the Stranded Light reliquary we thought we’d spend a few days relaxing at Merendin. A great idea that started off well but soon ran into difficulty. I was getting restless. Something about the locked tower we found in Capstone Cave was bothering me.

When I mentioned returning to Capstone Cave to Kaleah, Elenya, and Pym made it very clear that it was not their idea of relaxing. But there were things to do, I argued to no avail.

A couple of days passed by; I was sitting at a table with my Ladies in Merendin’s Cabaret. They were plotting an invasion of the Imperial City shops. I was lost in the thought how big a hit to the bank account this would be, when a striking figure with unmistakable flaming red hair walked in. Fiona strode up and sat down next to me.

“Amado Mio,” she cooed. “I've been looking for a strong… leader like yourself.”

Fiona had come to Merendin to barter; Shadowcrest wine for gold and exotic ingredients of a quality she can’t get anywhere else. She produced a bottle and poured a couple glasses.

“My latest creation,” Fiona told me. Pointing to the label she said, “I’ve named it “This Night, Me and You.” Like it?”

The name? Not so much. Not seeing a label on the bottle I think she just made it up on the spur of the moment.

The wine? Yep it was some pretty good stuff. It has an effect that kind of grows on you, a definite party pleaser.

Fiona sat down, asked how our latest trip has been going.

Updating Fiona on finding the Moon Reaver should have been easy but with each sip of wine I found it more and more difficult to keep my mind on business. Starring into her crystal blue persuasion eyes as we talked brought thoughts of snatching her up and running to the other room.

That ended when I mentioned my concerns about the strange towers in Capstone Cave and my desire to return. She changed; her ‘come hold me softness’ hardened.

Latching onto my arm, Fiona gave a sidelong glance at Kaleah, Elenya, and Pym then said, “Amado Mio, let your pretty flowers play their silly games while we perform deeds that will burn forever in the book of Atropos, Clotho, and Lachesis.”

Ah, that’s my witch of the Red Moon. We left for Capstone Cave that very day.

When we arrived at the entrance of Capstone Cave, as I stood there in front of the door I thought this should be like a walk in the park. After all it wasn’t too long ago that I along with Kaleah, Elenya, and Pym cleared all the Nord bandits from this cave.

But just to be on the safe side, I checked and rechecked her equipment making sure all her armor was in good repair, and her enchanted weapons were fully charged. To show that I have full confidence in her abilities, I handed her the Staff of Daylight. Fiona beamed with pride.

“Oh, it feels so sensual,” Fiona said as she sensed the power within the golden staff. “I shall not fail the trust you have put in me.”

Did I make a wise choice? Yes, I think so.

All was quiet as we made our way down the entrance tunnel to the first camp. This was I had expected so I was more than a bit surprised when three Skyrim bandits attacked. Thinking primarily of protecting Fiona, my reaction was to deflect the Nord attack away from Fiona. Drawing Light of Dawn, I engaged the Nords expertly maneuvering them toward the center of the encampment.

While I had the three Nords chasing my shadow, Fiona summoned daedric greaves an ancient zombie to help in the fight, then she searched for opportunity to use her magic. I didn’t see how she managed it but she was able to gain a spot high up on an icy ledge.

Once in position, Fiona discharged the Staff of Daylight at the Nord warriors.

The resulting area of effect spell tossed three burning Nords high into the air then dropped them like hot potatoes. Temporarily stunned, the Nords became easy pickings for the Light of Dawn.

With my hopes of a leisurely walk through Capstone Cave dashed, we decided that it would be better to clear the entire cave before trying to solve the puzzle of the twin towers and the little brick oven. Starting with the eastern chamber, which I didn’t think was necessary but Fiona wanted to see the Twin Towers, Fiona and I made certain that Capstone Cave was clear of all hostile Nords.

Overall, there were a total of twenty Nord warriors, crusaders, healers, and trappers. More than half were gathered at the camp in the Grand Cavern. Fifteen Nords attacking all at once were too much for me to deflect attention away from Fiona so I went straight to my usual reinforcements; the Sisters of Insanity, and the Midas Angel.

It is fun to watch Fiona use the Staff of Daylight to toss Nords up into the rafters.

Staff tossing Nords wasn’t the only trick Fiona had up her sleeve. She summoned zombies one after another and when Nords closed in on her she could wield her sword with masterful flare.

With the Nords from Skyrim gone, Fiona and I were free to explore the Fallen Tower. The door to this tower was unlocked. Entering, we climbed a ladder to the upper floors. On the top floor, rather hard to see, we found a key.

Taking the key, Fiona tells me that the key will unlock the door to the Twin Towers. I had a feeling that she was right but I had to check the brick oven to make sure. The brick oven sat on the ledge almost directly above the Leaning Tower, so it was easy get up there to check. Of course it wouldn’t open.

Laughingly Fiona politely pointed out that we could have been to the twin towers by now. “So sweet how you find excuses to spend extra time with me.”

With key in hand, we left the Grand Cavern and headed back to the twin towers.

Yes, the Tower Key unlocked the door. Entering the tower, we found the first floor to be empty. Climbing a ladder to the second floor we found it too to be empty. Climbing a ladder to the third floor put us face to face with the wanted criminal Elanna Wicksmith.

Outfitted in bound daedric armor Elanna attempted to summon a Xivilai to her side. I struck quickly. My furious attack forced her summon spell to fizzle. Without backup, Elanna Wicksmith in daedric armor was still a skilled foe. But her bound armor spell had one huge flaw. It eventually wears off.

When her armor spell dissipated, which I knew it would, I didn’t give Elanna the opportunity to recast the spell.

In desperation, Elanna Wicksmith tried to flee using what appeared to be a passwall spell. As she was casting the spell I managed to strike her with Light of Dawn. Her spell disrupted she died stuck in the tower wall.

Mistakes leading to situations like this (stuck in floors and walls) is the very reason I haven’t seen anyone use the PASSWALL spell, other than myself, since I rescued Uriel Septim VII from Jagar Tharn’s imprisonment.

With a little sympathy, knowing she could no longer hear I mumbled, “Poor thing, let me show you how it’s done.”

Clearing my mind of all distractions, I calmly cast PASSWALL (TCL). Reaching through the floor I took her shoes, the required proof for the bounty.

Fiona had finally caught up and we climbed the ladder to the tower roof. From ground level what I had thought was an archway attaching the two towers turned out to be a staircase.

Walking down the staircase from the first tower to the shorter tower we found a rock suspended from the tower’s canopy by a rope. A ‘switch’, we gave it a pull. We could hear something grinding echoing throughout the cave.

The grinding noise subsided and we headed back to Capstone Grand Cavern. Hana Alarne and her three companions surprised us when we entered the Grand Cavern campsite.

Wasting no time, Fiona unleashes the Staff of Daylight on Hana Alarne and company, while catching me at the bottom of the Area of Effect

After we convinced Hana Alarne to allow us to pass, we ran up the stairs to the upper ledge where the stone oven sat. From a distance we could see that the stone oven had opened. A brilliant golden glow was emanating from something inside the oven.

The ‘Eye of the Dragon’, I stood there starring at the largest precious topaz I’d ever seen. I’m drawn to it like moth to a flame. It doesn’t seem to have any enchantments laid upon it yet something tells me it has great potential.

“Better let me carry that,” Fiona sighed breathlessly. When I didn’t respond immediately she added, “You don't want to upset a pretty lady, do you?”

“No, don’t want to do that,” I said. “Take it. Perhaps you and your sister Claire can determine its potential.”

It is late and I suggested getting some sleep. Fiona took one look at the mess in the Grand Cavern Camp and declared it unsuitable. She wanted to go see the Belda Elysium Manor that Kaleah and Elenya raved about. Then she smiled.

Anything to please a lady. A wave of the hand was all it took to arrive at Belda Elysium.

When the lady smiles, you know it drives me wild
Her lips are warm and resourceful
When her fingertips, go drawing circles in the night
Then the mood is soft and sensual, hu-you
And I love it, yeah I love it
It’s the answer to all my dreams.

Back to Capstone Cave, only with Fiona this time for some Nord tossing – and a bit of unintended elf tossing it seems vs Hana Alarne and company.

Yeah, using Passwall sounds dangerous for the inexpert like Elanna Wicksmith. ohmy.gif

Laughingly Fiona politely pointed out that we could have been to the twin towers by now. “So sweet how you find excuses to spend extra time with me.” tongue.gif

20251003 SL-I Zendria

After a night at Belda Elysium Manor, we were enjoying breakfast on the patio when Fiona asked, “What are you going to do now?"

“I don’t know,” I answered. “There are a few unresolved issues in Zendria and that’s about it.”

“Zendria? In the Shivering Isles?” Fiona questioned. “Let’s go.”

Arriving at Zendria, we check in with Longius Curio to see how things were going. Longius is worried. A Khajiit he sent to open an art gallery, ‘Spur of the Moment’, has been strangely quiet. It’s been some time now and he hasn’t heard a word from Zashiri. Longius asked if we would go check on the ‘Spur of the Moment’ for him. The art gallery is located near New Sheoth.

Using the Stranded Light Transportation spell we arrive at the Stranded Light Outpost just outside of Bliss. From here we will begin our search for the “Spur of the Moment”. Our search didn’t last long.

Leaving the SL Outpost we made our way to the Overlook Road. Turning toward Bliss we intended to ask the guard at the gate if she knew of any new shops or buildings in the area. Turns out we didn’t have to.

As we neared the city gates, we spied what looked like a small house attached to the city wall. The door was unlocked so we entered. The manager, a very pretty Ohmes-rath introduced herself as Zashiri the manager of the art gallery, ‘Spur of the Moment’. Though technically not open yet but since we were here she declared the gallery, now open for business, and we were its first customers.

She was a little disappointed when I explained that we were sent by Longius Curio’s to check on the progress toward opening. Zashiri explained that she sent a ready to open letter to Longius weeks ago and was waiting for the OK. Her concern was for the competence of the courier. He kept confusing Zendria with Xandria. She wishes she had paid more for the Golden Saint courier.

Zashiri gave us a tour of the gallery. Though a rather limited display, she is hopeful that the gallery will be crowded with paintings once Zendria gets going. She then further explained that as a member of the guild I get a share of the gallery's profits. Stop by often to pick up my share. If more than a month passes without me checking by, the money will be donated to a fund for hungry kitten.

After the tour we assured Zashiri that we would inform Longius that all is well and the gallery is now open.

Once we were outside and, on our way, back to Zendria Fiona asked, “Did she pat her, umm, back pocket when she mentioned hungry kitten fund or did I just imagine that?”

“Don’t know but, I’m sure Zashiri will put the money to good use,” I replied.

“Yeah, I know how those Khajiit are,” Fiona laughed. “She knows an easy mark when she sees one and wants you to come back… often.”

Back in Zendria we informed Longius of what we had learned concerning “Spur of the Moment”. Satisfied with the report, Longius asked us to talk to the residents to see if anyone needs help.

Bernard tells us that Yan-Tissam is looking for a female Xivilai model to pose for painting. Talking to Yan-Tissam we learn she wants a female Xivilai to pose for a ‘daring painting’. The way she said ‘daring’ I got the idea that it didn’t mean demonstrating physical acts of courage under dangerous conditions. But then any romp with a Xivilai could be considered a dangerous condition requiring a significant amount of courage

Where will I find a female Xivilai? I know of three in the Shivering Isles; Tandruzuk, Firstande, and Derirazzul. We start with Tandruzuk at Watchers Eye Manor.

“A daring painting? Sorry, I’m not that kind of girl,” replied Tandruzuk when we told her what Yan-Tissam wants.

Tandruzuk may not have wanted to participate but she did offer a suggestion. Jesmin, a Xivilai known to be pretty wild even for a Xivilai. Certainly she would be willing to help for the sake of art. Only one problem, she disappeared hundreds of years ago.

“Wanted to get a drink made of flames and, well she hasn’t been seen afterwards anymore,” Tandruzuk said.

A drink made of flames? Could it be Mount Shroom? Hmmm.

Our second choice, Firstande, operates the Stranded Light New Sheoth Outpost just outside Bliss. She showed an interest but is committed to the New Sheoth Outpost. She too mentions Jesmin as being the right person.

“Last seen near a mountain made of mushrooms,” Firstande informed me.

“Amado Mio,” Fiona informed me. “That’s two for Jesmin. Do we need to look any further?”

“Hmm, Derirazzul at the ‘19 Voids’ is not too far out of the way to Mount Shroom.”

“Kaleah told me about Derirazzul,” Fiona cautioned. “Taking a Xivilai that a sadistic Daedra Seducer, Turumerin, saw fit to lock up in a cage is not a good idea. Tandruzuk said Jesmin is known to be pretty wild, but Derirazzul goes far beyond wild, she’s stark raving mad.”

Fiona is right. We’ll just go on up to Mount Shroom and see what can be done with the statue. But before we do, we should ask around in Bliss to see if there are any other Xivilai we missed.

Wasn’t long after entering Bliss that we met Big Head. The Argonian couldn’t help with locating another Xivilai. All he was concerned about was a fork, which I happen to have. Quite some time ago I found the Fork of Horripilation, I gave it to him. Big Head walked away happy and me scratching my head wondering is this the same Big Head I met in Morrowind?

Passing through Bliss we next met Arriashe, the Ohmes-rath artist. She said that she has seen a female Xivilai at
a "scary place" somewhere north or east or northeast of New Sheoth. Not much to go on but I think she is referring to Derirazzul at the ‘19 Voids’.

Rendil Drarara said he was attacked by a Xivilai for cooking her children (smoking Baliwog legs). He doesn't know where the Xivilai went to, only that it hasn’t been seen in New Sheoth since. That’s got to be Firstande the Baliwog Queen.

We cross over to Crucible and make our way to Earil’s Mysteries.

Earil mentioned that while there are two known female Xivilai residents on the isles, records tell of a third and a fourth one. He didn't know anything about them, though. I think he’s talking about Tandruzuk, Firstande, Derirazzul, and the statue of Jesmin.

Ok, that’s enough. We keep coming up with the same 2 to 4 names. Two have already declined, one we don’t want to go near, and the fourth is a statue. Guess we better go north and see if there is anything we can do with it.

Not much it seems. Nothing Fiona and I tried had any effect on the statue. M’San-Dar the Khajiit that lives on the island tells us, “The Xivilai is lost! What Mount Shroom takes, she keeps.”

Hmm, we could go back to Cyrodiil and ask the Xivilai we know there but before we do Fiona suggested to do we return to Zendria and inform Yan-Tissam.

“A statue!” Yan-Tissam shouted. “Go to a wizard or something! A statue will not do.”

Find a wizard! What does she think Fiona and I are? I may not know everything but I think I’m well above average in the magic department. So where do I find a more knowledgeable wizard in the Shivering Isles? I’m not going to talk to that clown Sheogorath. He’ll just try to get me to solve his Greymarch problem for him.

Haskil comes to mind. Worth a shot. We travel to Haskil’s desk to ask him.

When asked about the statue Haskil says, “Sometimes something is not exactly what it looks like. You should go to a wizard. Ever take a walk through New Sheoth?”

Earil’s Mysteries. When we pinned him down Earil confessed that he could form a powerful Alternation spell that should restore her being. A challenge certainly but one he excitedly accepted. It didn’t take him long at all to form a lesser power spell he named Arcane Reconnect.

I watched and Fiona took notes as Earil wove his magic. As he worked, Earil explained some things about the statue. Jesmin was neither banished nor petrified; merely the connection between her body and spirit was weakened. What you see as a statue is the result of her body standing still for eons. The collection of dust and dirt hardened to look like stone.

The spell he taught me to “heal” Jesmin needs several components to work: 1000 gold coins, a pure golden ring, a Xivilai collar (unenchanted), and five normal potions of restoring Magicka. Earil warned me that the spell will consume EVERYTHING I carry with me, be it part of the spell component or not. It cannot be recovered.

Asking Earil why he didn’t tell me about Jesmin before, he just shrugged and said, “You didn’t ask. I took your question about a female Xivilai to be about the living, breathing variety, not about the statuesk kind. For what reason? I was there for scientific purposes, not to help random Daedra.”

“Gaaa, this land is insane," murmured Fiona.

The 1000 gold coins I have. For the other items, we spent the rest of the day running back and forth between Bliss and Crucible gathering the required items.

Sickly Bernice sold us a gold ring 100 gold.

“Sweetie,” Fiona said. “We could’ve melted down way 10 coins and made a ring.”

Hearing the sugar-coated sarcasm, I made an excuse that coins are not 100% gold and wouldn’t do.
Rendil Drarara desperately needed a Scanlon scale. Reaching into her travel pouch Fiona pulled out a Scanlon scale. Rendil gave us 6 bottles of Potion of Sorcery in exchange.

Raven-Biter told us that he had snatched a Xivilai collar from a Xivilai who claimed to be the Baliwog Queen. Raven-Biter then complained that a beggar stole it, how ironic.

We found the beggar Fimmion; he’s willing to trade a Xivilai collar for a sweetroll.

“He’ll sell you the pants he’s wearing for a sweetroll,” Fiona said. “Disgusting.”

Can’t remember seeing sweetrolls for sale in New Sheoth. Rendil had some, we could steal one.

Not wanting to risk jail time Fiona, with a sly little smile, suggested a quick trip to Shadowcrest Vineyard where she always has a plate of sweetrolls on the table.

A quick trip and we’re back in Bliss with a plate of sweetrolls. Fimmion tossed the Xivilai collar to us as he snatched one.

With all the required items in hand we left for Mount Shroom. As we traveled I mentioned to Fiona that this is one expensive spell. Then I remembered Midas Aurumius. He’s wizard who specializes in gold powered spells. Wonder if he could have done it cheaper?

Arriving at Mount Shroom, we stopped at a spot I thought would be safe and handed Fiona all my belongings. Leaving Fiona guarding the area I walked beneath the two warring aspects of the Bi-polar Prince.

Stopping at the statue of Jesmin, I cast the spell. The statue phased in and out between stone and flesh as the spell cycled. Vivid colors of magic flashed as lightning, blizzards, and fire storms struck Jesmin. A finale grand explosion sent me fly backwards, planting me at Fiona’s feet.

“Look!” Fiona exclaimed pointing to where the statue once stood.

Pacing back and forth was a living, breathing Xivilai female. We approached. Jesmin told us her story and we in turn told her about the opportunity at Zendria. The idea of performing with a man intrigued her. She immediately left for Zendria.

It was late, the stars were out and well it was a beautiful night.

Back to the Shiviering Isles. Making sure the new art gallery was up and running was easy enough. Quite a bit more involved though in finding and procuring a Xivilai that meets the artist’s ‘daring’ requirements. Mission accomplished though!
