Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but....

A Fallout TV series is coming to Amazon Prime.

Link

Cast will include Walton Goggins (Boyd Crowder from the original Justified series) and Kyle McLachlan, among others.

I remember hearing about this a year or two ago, but it was just in the concept stage back then. No one had even been hired to do anything with it at that time.

It certainly looks like Fallout 4

From looking over the IMDB, Walton Goggins is only in 4 episodes, same with Kyle McLachlan. So they must not be the protagonists.

That's fine with me. I cannot stand Walton Goggins. It is through no fault of his own. I am sure he is a nice man (bracing myself for when allegations come out about him in the future). But the first role I ever saw him in was on the Shield, where he played a weasely, worm of a toadie attached to the protagonist of Vic. I have never gotten that slimy henchman portrayal out of my head, so that is all I can ever see him as.

Hopefully he is a villain in this, like he was in the recent Tomb Raider movie. He is good at that sort of thing.

I nabbed the classic titles on a similar deal a couple years ago! Not sure when I'll get around to playing them though, haha.

I followed the link, and I already own every one of those games too! biggrin.gif

I would get New Vegas but the prospect of having to get it to run worth a damn is too daunting.

Viva New Vegas guide. It will make the game run damn near perfect. I use it and between two extended save files I CTD'd maybe three times.

I just noticed that I was born about 18 miles away from Point Lookout, in the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

That's fun! I was born in The Pitt and still live 15 minutes out of the city.

Nice. One of these days I need to head to the real Point Lookout, haven't been to the in-game one either.

There is a mysterious timer on the interactive website for Fallout Season 2. You can get some behind-the-scenes info on locations from the show on the website, but in the top right corner is a timer that is piquing people's imagination as to what it could be.

And you'll never guess what a bunch of people on the Internet are speculating. (/sarcasm) That's right: Some people are speculating that it's a countdown to a Fallout 3 and/or NV Remaster.

To me, that is some serious copium and it's case #15439530489 of gamers getting their hopes up for something in their heads that was never reality. I'd obviously be stoked to be wrong, but I am 99.99% confident in saying that the countdown is NOT for a remaster of either game. And if it is, it sure as hell isn't going to be BOTH games when you can get way more profit by selling each separately and at different times. (Not to mention that each one is going to take a lot of time to develop, even as a remaster in the vein of Oblivion Remastered.)

So, I very highly recommend not holding your breath. Just want you to be aware of the rumors, and not get your own hopes up or mistake the rumors for truth. But don't be surprised if you start seeing this speculation crop up on your newsfeeds.

Now, I did disbelieve the rumors about the Oblivion Remaster right up to the day before the stream announcing it. And we do know the Fallout 3 Remaster is in the works (or is at least planned) because of the court documents that revealed the existence of the Oblivion Remaster. But I sincerely doubt a Fallout 3 or NV Remaster is ready at this point, as great as the timing would be.
Kane
It could be remasters. IIRC there were court documents from before the Microsoft acquisition that laid out BGS projected timeline of projects, and a Fallout 3 remaster was on that list. But it all got delayed by Covid.

Ugh. rolleyes.gif

How about they also remaster 4, 76, Starfield and hey, why not their very first sports game, GRIDIRON?

....anything to delay the release of Elder Scrolls VI, hey why not?

Right, that's what I meant by the last paragraph. We know that the Fallout 3 Remaster is at least planned. I just don't think it's going to be ready yet. Would love to be wrong and I'm fully ready to eat my words if it does turn out to be one of the remasters. It's just going to be annoying if/when that isn't what the countdown is for and a bunch of gamers get pissy because they made up something in their minds that was never said to be the case.

I get that you're partially being sarcastic, but 4 just got its anniversary release, 76 is an online game, and Starfield is new enough. Technically yes, Skyrim has been remastered 235394436 times, but Oblivion's was the only Remaster they've had on that level before.

The only other Bethesda-developed games that could get that kind of treatment at this point would be 3/NV (yes, NV was Obsidian, but it was built on Bethesda's engine and uses a lot of Bethesda's pre-existing assets). Morrowind would require much more of an overhaul like full voice-acting, so I don't see that happening anytime soon. But Oblivion's was outsourced primarily to a different studio, so assuming that would happen again with 3/NV, it really wouldn't take up much of Bethesda's resources and therefore delay TESVI. As long as it isn't at the expense of TESVI development time, I'd love to see a 3/NV Remaster.

We do know that TESVI is the primary focus of Bethesda developers right now, even though there are other projects in the works. I obviously am stoked for it, but I'm quite okay with not yet hearing the inevitable gamer whining and grifting no matter how it turns out.
