Was at someoneīs 70th b-day yesterday and two of her grandkids were there, the cutest little girls evah
The one having her b-day is family from a short distance so basically everyone there were also my relatives but I never meet them except for a few. Itīs kinda funny since we all live in the same area..
Conclusion:

Yes. There is quite a bit of it meant on that from you.

I don't know how it works there, but here writing it off means you can't be taxed on it because it is a business expense - it doesn't mean you get the dollars in your hand to spend again. I could be wrong though, so don't listen to me, lol.

Well, here we buy what we want and pay full tax on it but we get it back later if it has to do with a business (which it does in this case since dadīs farm/woodland counts as a business). So in essense itīs like not being taxed
