Khajiit is surprised by how many people are here at the beach on a Monday in October. Do the children not have school? Are all the adults on vacation? Strange.

Could be fall break, but more likely it is the locals who work late or early shifts so they can spend the day on the beach relaxing. (raises hand) = as I did, when I lived there.

Personally, I blame the wings. How can you not be optimistic when you can fly? laugh.gif

Oh, definitely. I can imagine that as a rune you don´t really move away from the stone much, do you? biggrin.gif
Callidus Thorn
Not just stone, so we get around a fair bit.

But I'm thinking of changing my avatar, or at least modifying it...

Yep. Blame Cthulhu. Or maybe Dagon.* Or crazy half fish people cultists.

Surely half fish people are no match for a Khajiit? tongue.gif

Change can be good or bad. I haven't had an avatar for many years. My last one was a circle of cliff racers surrounding a player looking upward.

And now I'm getting Morrowind flashbacks.

I can still hear the squawking ohmy.gif
mirocu
Well, it´s still quite similar to your last one, Thorny. And I reckon that umbrella can prove useful later on laugh.gif

Ah that familiar "SKREEEEEE!" sound from Morrowind. A sound that is, shall we say, the opposite of relaxing?

A sound that as you walked and admired a (at the time) beautiful landscape could strike fear into new players and usher annoyance into the hearts of grizzled vets.

*Wipes tear*

It was a beautiful time.

The problem is that cliff racers would follow for very long distances from a height that didn't trigger combat music.

What could happen, especially around the Ghostgate is that you may run around for long periods not knowing you've unwittingly attracted the attention of 5-6 cliff racers, which is enough to thrash new players. Sometimes more. To make it worse, some of them may be diseased or blighted.
mirocu

Solstheim is arguably the most beautiful place in the game. I loved the snow and introduction of lycanthropy into the game.

Funny part is I was just a kid when it came out and when a buddy told me the details I didn't believe him. I'd already sank hundreds of hours into vanilla Morrowind at that point and it, along with Tribunal, dragged me back in for several hundred more. I love many of the ES games but have yet to feel as engrossed and generally satisfied with an ES game since Morrowind.

Of course these were the days of expansions that were the size of all of the DLC combined in most games for a considerably lower price point.

Some of it is admittedly nostalgia but at the same time, it had a depth that I've never really seen since.

Heh, those things wouldn't stop at fear, they could inspire full blown panic in new players. I'd bet that swarms of cliff racers were responsible for a lot of new players thrashing their mouse button to try and kill them all.

I'm trying to think of more obnoxious annoyances I've come across in videogames, and there really aren't that many. Between the noise they made, the way they'd attack, and the potential for carrying blight or diseases, they almost seem designed to troll the player.

And it makes the references to Saint Jiub in Oblivion one of the things about the game that Morrowind fans could truly appreciate laugh.gif

I could swear on a few occasions I got attacked by a dozen or more of the blasted things. Combine that with their habit of hanging back out of reach letting more arrive and the area could be littered with winged corpses.

No dude, Cliff Racers were terrifying because when you heard the "SKREEEE" and looked around you never knew how many you'd find chasing you! Not to mention the blighted ones that give you crippling diseases!

Dunwich building had good, creepy atmosphere but Khajiit didn't find it very scary either.

Callidus: Yeah 5-6 was meant to be a pretty conservative number. I got hit with tons at once too at times.

Personally I always loved how alien Morrowind was, especially when you got things like the Telvanni mushroom towers, or those weird Netch things. And the city of Vivec was just fantastic, once you figured out how to get around it.

That said, I also love the familiar and comfortable setting of Oblivion. I end up getting a little too relaxed while my characters are travelling, making enemies on the roads far more surprising laugh.gif

But it was so satisfying the first couple of times it happens, when the dust settles and you can't see the floor through the cliff racer bodies that cover it. laugh.gif

And then it happens for the twentieth time and you just wanted to scream at the computer rollinglaugh.gif

Khajiit thinks the same. Here's hoping that we'll get more alien type stuff by the time TES: Elsweyr, Black Marsh, and Valenwood roll around.

Creepy is a good word for it. Like The Gibson House in Minefield. That place is creepy but damn if it doesn't make a good unofficial player home! Just don't make the mistake of putting your excess chems and medicines in the first aid kit. Its haunted! The ghosts of Gibson House like to take out all your chems and meds and replace them with a small sampling of different stuff.

I'm sitting here looking at a stack of games I'm getting rid of later today. Most of them aren't going to be worth much by this point, but they're worth even less sitting around not being played.

On a completely unrelated note, I found this, and thought I'd share biggrin.gif
