I always look forward to this time change. Waking when the clock shows 3:00 to 3:30am gives the illusion of an extra hour's sleep and cuts down on dead time between waking and my 5am breakfast, such as it is. Too, I try to avoid turning on the computer prior to 3:30am. Waking near that time helps me keep that promise. (I normally use the time prior to 3:30am to read in bed.)
Problem is, my accursed subconscious internal clock that insists I wake super early, much as I despise doing so. I set all clocks (save the computer, which sets itself) ahead an hour just after supper yesterday. I retired and fell asleep at roughly my normal times by the clock. Come morning I woke and looked at the clock. 2am on the nose. Doh! I knew this would happen eventually, but hoped it'd take weeks if not longer for my system to adjust. In my favor, I was able to nod off again at some point and this time slept until 3:20ish. Much better.
It's not that I 'can't' sleep a bit later, DST or no DST. It's just that I tend to wake earlier far too often. On the other hand, I almost never have trouble falling asleep at night. Just the opposite. I tend to get groggy around 7pm and spend the next some hours fighting off sleep, some nights more successfully than others.
It runs in my family. Both mom and dad were early risers and retirers the entire time I knew them. My brother remains an early riser, though he tends to retire earlier and thus gets more sleep.
I'd love to be able to 'sleep in' until 5am breakfast. That some folk think nothing of sleeping in until mid/late morning is unfathomable to me.
