Maybe I'll fire that up instead of Mass Effect.

I could go for a little sci-fi accompaniment to Oblivion...

If you do, I recommend playing only that until youīre done with it to keep the story focused. At least I do that, and I donīt want any other game distracting me and taking up space in my brain. Deus Ex needs as much as it can get biggrin.gif

No other game?

That presents a problem...

But I'm used to playing games all over the place. As long as I don't leave too long a gap between sessions I'm usually fine.

And besides, this close to starting my third attempt, nothing short of a miracle/catastrophe could drag me away from Oblivion laugh.gif
mirocu
Of course you do as you wish.. laugh.gif

In any case Iīd like to once again quote Rinrygamegame; Happy gaming!! biggrin.gif

No working on the Webway yet? tongue.gif

How exactly do you go about your RPing and writing CT?

I've always wanted to do it in a similar fashion.

In actual seroiusness, I'm making my own Chapter for tabletop and Deathwatch. Pretty fun.

1. 1d4chan.org has some nice creation tables, and GirlPainting on Youtube posted this video, which is pretty good for defining where your chapter's foundations and boundaries are.

2. I've actually been more apathetic on that subject for like a month now...don't really care too much.

1.Cool! I don't have time/money nor space for miniatures but it'd be a cool hobby!

I've always wanted to do it in a similar fashion.

For me the most important part of roleplaying is the character's backstory. I find it impossible to simply dive into the tutorial with a blank slate, and let things build from there. I need to know who the character is before I begin. I usually spend days planning the character, letting it build in the back of my mind, starting with a single concept or idea and letting anything I see or hear have the potential to add layers to it. I've learned not to force it or rush the process, I made that mistake with my first attempt at fanfic, An Old Altmer's Tale.

When it comes to writing, I try to hold a single image in my mind. A starting point for what I want to write about. Typically this will be a moment of gameplay frozen in time. Then I try and put that image into words, adding in all the little things missing from the game, everything relating to the character and the experience. From there the picture changes, and I continue trying to describe it.

I've recently taken to keeping notes on what happens when playing, which has proven very useful. Previously I'd have to stop playing to write the most recent occurences while they were still fresh in my mind, but sometimes that could take days. This was a problem I had with Telindil's Tale. The notes let me work at a more relaxed pace, and get more gameplay in, which further reinforces the connection to the character.

I really wish I could describe it all better, but I don't fully understand a lot of how I go about it myself. And to be honest, I'm still working on improving both my RPing and my writing.

QUOTE(ImperialSnob @ Apr 14 2014, 10:47 PM) *

How exactly do you go about your RPing and writing CT?

I've always wanted to do it in a similar fashion.

I see, I don't know if I could do the writing bit but the RP bit yeah.

You're best bet's to ask some of the better writers and roleplayers here. I'm just an amateur learning from my mistakes.

And read the fan-fics here. So far I've read: Buffy the Bowgirl, Old Habits Die Hard, Teresa of the Faint Smile, Jerric's Story. All are fantastically written, and all of them have made me think about how I write and roleplay.

Read, ask questions, find what works for you and stick to it.

Reality is a remarkably mutable concept. Centuries ago reality was that the sun revolved around the Earth, the fastest mode of travel over land was by horse, and the sky was the domain of birds alone.

Objective fact follows a similar pattern...

Was going to save this one for tomorrow- but where's the randomness in that?

Two strings go into a bar. The bartender says, "We don't serve strings in here!" and tosses them out.

The first string tells his buddy, "I'll get us a drink. Watch this." He then loops and twists himself and musses up his hair.

When he gets to the bar, the bartender says, "Hey- aren't you one of those strings I just tossed out?"

"Nope. I'm a frayed knot."

Well, you'll be pleased to know that I have now installed Deus Ex.

I've only gotten as far as the second segment of the tutorial. Everything seemed a little darker after that room where they tell you to use the torch. With the amount of light shining in right now I saw more of my reflection than the game sad.gif

I'll fire it up this evening, shouldn't have any trouble then.

And the best bit about the game so far?

That I can play it at my laptop screens resolution (1366*768) biggrin.gif

Well I skimmed through the manual first, but I figured there's no harm in making sure I've got everyone down before starting the game proper.

But now I've got to wait hours before I can play it! verysad.gif

Ugh, and Tarvyn's game is still being rained out. The storm currently raging in his game has been going for over 18 hours now, and something is close enough by to stop me simply waiting, so I've no choice but to leave the game running until it ends sad.gif
