The Dark Temmie sounds like the product of a cross between Pokemon(some of those Pokedex entries are plain freaky) and the Star Trek mirror universe rollinglaugh.gif

I can't for the life of me see the gaming deals thread here so I'll just post it here: the original Fallout is free on Steam today in celebration of its 20th anniversary. I just came across the news, and while I'm not a fan of turn-based combat I figured I'd grab it anyways because it's, you know, free.

But it is only free until midnight, so if you want it you should pounce on it quickly.

Fallout 1 is a cool game. A while back I bought a bundle with FO1, 2, and Tactics on one dvd. It doesn't look the best on a modern machine with a 1920 x 1080 monitor though. I am pretty sure it only gets up to 640 x 480. There is a high resolution patch to run it in 1920 x 1080. If you use the patch, make sure you use its config.exe file to set the Scaling to x2. Otherwise everything is really tiny.
TheCheshireKhajiit
Eh, Khajiit will just stick with the more modern Fallout games. Not a huge fan of the whole isometric thing.

I've got a Fallout Collection disc sitting around somewhere. Never did get around to installing any of them sad.gif

When Khajiit was a young cub, he had a friend who had a tarantula. It didn't spin a pretty web that this one can remember (not even really sure if they can), but it was otherwise awesome. It was very tickly when it would crawl on your arm!

We have a dedicated Fallout section so this news could fit well there. However, this is the Everything thread so it belongs here too biggrin.gif

Khajiit is somewhat surprised by this news.

How's come?

This one guesses because when he thinks of Scandinavia, he thinks it would be too cold for snakes. Guess it does probably get warm enough in the summer though.

It does. Rarely see one though and when I do it's mostly the non-poisonous kind.

Ooh, it appears you folks get the Common European Adder. If Khajiit saw one of those, he'd teach it a division lesson! laugh.gif

Hmm.

On the one hand, I should probably be writing some more of Gideon's Journal. On the other, I'm having way too much fun with TES: Legends now that I have a solid deck.

Hmm...

Edit: Back to reading Buffy the Bowgirl biggrin.gif

Decided that with a new MechWarrior game coming out next year, and a resurgent interest in MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries, it was high time Khajiit replaced his aging flight stick.

Old flight Stick: Microsoft Sidewinder

New flight stick: Logitech Extreme 3D Pro

Will take it for a spin tonight with MW4:M and see how it does.

I used an old Logitech joystick back when I played a lot of X3: Terran Conflict, and just looking at that new one of yours makes me want to fire that game up again laugh.gif

This one thinks it's going to do quite well. Khajiit held it and it feels good in his hands and it has way more buttons everywhere than the Sidewinder has. Part of the decision to get a new stick was that this one likes to control targeting enemies with the stick but the sheer lack of buttons on the Sidewinders stick meant that unless you switched weapon groups constantly you'd have to use a button on the base to select targets.

Urgh, running out of buttons is the worst thing possible on a joystick. There's something about it that just seems to distort whatever game you're playing.

Well, Khajiit doesn't mind using the keyboard for some things (such as flushing coolant, selecting nav points, or commanding lancemates), but anything related to weapons systems and basic movement needs to be controlled by the stick (and the most important things within thumb reach on top of the stick). But yeah, running out of buttons sucks, lol
TheCheshireKhajiit
Ok, so Khajiit took the new flight stick for a spin and has some feedback.

Pros:
So. Many. Buttons!
Throttle lever feels good.
Twist and pitch are pretty easy to control.
More compact design than Sidewinder.

Cons:
Horizontal movement feels a little stiff (thinking this will loosen up with use).
Slight creep forward in the stick when resting hand on it (makes targeting reticle slowly move up on screen).

All in all, it performs well. It will take some getting accustomed to, but Khajiit was never able to control MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries as well with the Sidewinder as with this new Logitech stick. Holding the targeting reticle on target seems easier with the new stick, and the twist is less touchy, and therefore, smoother. Khajiit is quite pleased so far!

Nah just MechWarrior. I use a XB360 controller for games on PC when I can though. Khajiit finds that ESO, for instance, is a lot easier to play with a controller than m&kb.

I too had a Sidewinder, though I believe ours were not the same model. Can't recall whether it used USB or the old Game Port connector. Maybe Game Port with provided USB adapter???? In any case I'm pretty sure I donated it to Goodwill sometime within the past year.

Khajiit actually owned two Sidewinders. He got the first one back when MechWarrior 3 was out and it was a bit different than the one Khajiit shared a pic of. It may very well have had a gameport plug. The throttle was also different as instead of a lever it was a dial. That one also had a dedicated "Shift" button that the newer Sidewinder didn't have.

Really? I much prefer the m&k, especially after years of controller only. So many more hotkeys available, and my mouse has like 5 extra buttons, too. laugh.gif

Khajiit finds it hard to reach the number keys, which in ESO activates your special abilities. On the controller they are right there within easy reach.
Callidus Thorn
Heh, between having one Nintendo handheld or other since the first Pokemon games came out, and starting out with an N64, I've never been particularly comfortable with mouse and keyboard. Unless it's for RTS games, there mouse and keyboard is definitely the way to go.

I am still using my old Logitech Wingman Extreme from something like 20 years ago. I love the twist feature it has, like the Sidewinder. It is great for doing the torso twist in the Mechwarrior games.

You know I've been around guns my whole life and until recently have I heard about these Bump Stocks. Basically what they do is make your AR-15 or AK-47 into "fully automatic" assault rifles. From what I've seen its slam firing the rifle by locking down the trigger and the gun using its own recoil to fire and chamber the next round like a machine gun.
