Some of the names it came up with were hysterical though. I thought people were being coy saying "loaf of bread" till I one day discovered (quite by accident) that it was the autocensor, ROFL !!

King Of Beasts
Why doesn't my autocensor replace things with funny words anymore?! mad.gif

Yes, with the advent of Acadian's rule and McB's request they changed it from the silly phrases to something a writer would notice on an edit and have the opportunity to change to a different choice, lol.

I donīt know what to say kvleft.gif

I know of someone who died while riding his motorcycle. It was on a straight, wide road but he came in such a speed that he didnīt even have a chance of reacting to the tractor that pulled up. I know where it happened, people put up flowers there. Every time I pass by there (which I do every time we go to the old cars and bikes meeting) I raise my index and middle fingers on my right hand as a salute to him.

I'm just shocked. Life is so short. I saw that kid a couple I months ago. And now that I think of it...that could've been me that died.

Donīt think like that. You are alive and well and have so many years ahead of you. Donīt waste them thinking like that.

I know. I shouldn't think like that. It's just...wow. To think he was perfectly healthy a couple of months ago, and now he's dead.

My former work buddy knew this biker guy I talked about, and I bet he felt just like you do.

I know what you feel like. Knew someone in high school that killed himself in the middle of the school year. I didn't know him particularly well, but it was still so weird knowing he was gone forever.

Life is short. Longer when compared to most species, but still, it's short. You never know. It's just the way things are.

It's an unchanging thing, and while you're allowed to be shocked, don't let it stop you from living your life. Whenever I heard about a friend dying, I'd mourn for a few days, then go out and do something they liked in their memory.

I had a friend from choir who got t-boned by a drunk driver. She broke her neck, while he walked away, literally, unharmed. She was the sweetest girl I'd ever met. I used to get bad panic attacks in school, and she'd sit by me and talk to me and try to make me laugh. She didn't even know me very well, just by name, yet she'd take the time out of her time with friends to make me feel better. She loved bright colors, so on the day she passed away, I like to wear my most colorful shirt.

I had a friend who committed suicide shortly before she graduated. She was bullied relentlessly, and had a bad home life(When I say bad, I mean she was pregnant with her own sibling.) and she was also in choir with me. I wrote her a song.

Another friend was hit, again, by a drunk driver. He was being scouted for a major league baseball team. I go to the batting cages for him.

Then there's my dad. He was more of a friend to me than a dad, but still. All of these people passed away around this time of the year, around September. So September is filled with memories, good and bad, for me.

We can't change that death happens. But what we can change is how it effects us. I's shocking when our own mortality rears its head at us and catches out attention. It's one of the most natural, terrifying, and inescapable parts of our life. That's why there's so much hype over it. We can't avoid it. We never know the day or the time. All we can do until that day comes, is live our lives. Enjoy ourselves, enjoy others, make memories and experiences.

Sorry it's so long.

I know! It...not right. This dude had a little bro that looked up to him, and his parents were real nice. He wasn't a close friend but still.

It really saddens me reading about your friends and your dad, Liz. None of it should have happened but thanks for sharing. By doing so you help keep their memories alive. At least thatīs something kvleft.gif

*From the shadows comes a comforting embrace*

I know too well the pain of losing a loved one. More difficult is when they are of same age and similar background, thus you being able too see what it would be like in there position.

Many years ago now...probably 1992-93 or so, I was in elementary school. I was the weird kid that only a few people really got along with.

One of them was a little red-haired girl named Emily. She was always sweet and all smiles to everyone. Even me. On Valentines when I didn't get any cards, (Well, I did, but all the kids threw mine away that the parents made them write.) she would come over to my table and write a card just for me.

No, we were never sweethearts or anything like that, she started going to a regular school as this was a private. I missed her but life went on.

Six months later, I came across two girls staring at a picture of her on the yellow, plastic, twisty slide; giving her famous smile that one of the teachers took of all of us at recess. When they turned to look at me, they were both in tears.

I naturally asked what had happened, and they told me that she and her father had died in a car accident during a recent rainstorm in the area.

That struck me like the thunderbolt of god, and was my first encounter with the impermanence of life. I still remember that moment vividly. But, I can draw strength from it. A reminder that right now, is the only thing which is real. That which you are capable of right now, is your only true possession.

To inject a little spirituality, Siddhartha Gautama's teachings includes the phrase: "You too shall pass away. Knowing this, how can you quarrel?" This is taken to mean, life is too short to be chasing the negative aspects. Anger. Fear. Regret. Pride. Of what use are they? Other than giving you a little boost in the moment in which they occur to react appropriately, they become as useless weights if carried beyond.

I am sorry to hear of your friend Kobby, and hope you come to terms with this in the best possible way.

His family must be devastated kvleft.gif

To say the least.

Two days after my EMT instructor retired, a year ago in June, her son died en route in his own vehicle to a forest fire (He was a front line hotshot I think they're called.) I had attended her retirement party, and she was wistful at the very least, after the passing her grief was tangible.

It was like she had lost the will to live honestly. She was saddened to the point beyond tears. Losing a child, is the deepest of all pain, so unimaginable, there is no term for it such as 'Widow/Widower'.

A child should never be buried before their parents. It's a real sad thing when that's the case kvleft.gif

It always comes as a shock when someone you know dies unexpectedly. It is a sad fact of life that we are all born to die, whether it is years or days, we all die.

I'm not great at comforting people who are upset so I'll simply say that I'm sorry for your loss and that almost everyone has experienced what you're going through. The feeling will pass with time, I lost someone close a few weeks ago myself.
