3 has a lighter tone than Vegas? From what IŽve seen of Vegas I think that game has the lighter tone. I think 3 is pretty dark and gritty even with 3Dog on.

I don't recall anything in 3 on the scale of walking into a town that's been destroyed, through an avenue of people who've been crucified, to be told by a well spoken man that it was little more than an object lesson. Unless the dlcs get really dark, I don't think 3 has anything to match The Legion in New Vegas.

New Vegas is filled with gray areas and moral ambiguity; where as Fallout 3 is closer to black and white.

If you are traumatized by the scene at that one town, then you go after Caesar's Legion with a vengence = join the NCR. That is not the only crucifixion in the game, they want you to either hate the Legion or identify with them (for evil characters).

But in Fallout 3, you kind of don't get the choice to be evil unless you just go around killing and robbing, cannibalizing, etc.

So technically, the Fallout 3 game was trying to push you into being a good character; whereas New Vegas actually does give you a choice and doesn't call it evil if you join the Legion because the morality is a gray area in NV. (much like there is a different viewpoint of morality in the real Vegas as opposed to Virginia, etc. )

WHICH GAME DID YOU PICK!!???!??!??!?!?!!? ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif panic.gif panic.gif panic.gif
Callidus Thorn
I ended up going with Fallout 3, because of the extra content(most of which I haven't even seen! ohmy.gif ) and fewer bugs.

I've just thrown my level five character, named Avner(I don't actually know why), into Operation Anchorage, for early power armour training. That, and he got curious about the radio broadcast.
mirocu
Heh.

IŽm surprised you actually told me. YouŽre usually quite secretive tongue.gif
Callidus Thorn
Well, I felt like talking about it, but didn't have enough to be worth posting in the Fallout section laugh.gif
mirocu
U gonna do dah Mayne Quesst?
Callidus Thorn
I don't think so. It gets so damn cringey. And makes no sense.

But, then again, I need to to get to Broken Steel...

Hmm...
mirocu
Well, you get that sorted out while IŽll just keep running around shooting baddies and collecting caps biggrin.gif
Callidus Thorn
Don't get me started on that. I've had the weirdest occurrence: a major shortage of .32 ammo. Never seen it happen before, I've not had more than fifteen rounds at any one time, until I got a bunch from the super mutants on the way to start Operation Anchorage.
mirocu
Interesting seeing as I have noticed a shortage of .22 Win Mag around here.. tongue.gif
Callidus Thorn
Perhaps that's because you've literally fired all the bullets! panic.gif

laugh.gif
mirocu
I most certainly have not ohmy.gif

*drops monocle in drink again*

Had to order a bunch of ammo from far away but it was actually much, much cheaper than if I had ordered it from a place a lot closer to home blink.gif

Callidus Thorn
Urgh.

The Shannara Chronicles has gotten pretty meh at this point. The last two episodes were all but incomprehensible for the most part.

I'm guessing they really botched making it into a tv series.

I love the Anchorage DLC !!!

Hmm...

I've only played Broken Steel once, so have been facing the same thing. Really don't like following the FO3 main questline, but ... would like to play Broken Steel again (so have to if I want to).

I have cheated to get my power armor training in the beginning of the game via going off map and popping up in the Citadel; but then it screwed up the main questline so you can't do Broken Steel, so not doing it again (plus decided I liked the Chinese Stealth suit better than the power armor, lol )

The main questline has some of the two most AWESOME moments in gaming history; but you have to go through a lot of BS moments getting to them - like the Dr. Li walk through the tunnels, urk.

Just yesterday I did the run from Casey's to Rivet City with Daddy James; and for the first time ever Daddy James stayed broken through the entire run. He got lost twice, had to be prompted a couple times to continue on; stopped to talk several times - it was weird! At the Raider Camp overpass the road was blocked with vehicles - I don't remember ever seeing so many there on his run! Well, Daddy James got stuck in the vehicles and lost track of the quest completely. I finally had to blow up the cars around him to further the quest and get him running to Rivet City again.

So obviously the next step is the trek to the Jefferson Memorial, and I am dreading that; so instead of playing it today I started a new game in Oblivion, lol.

I remember playing it once before, but I kind of blitzed it, so I can't recall what goes on for the most part.

I just love it for the power armour training without the main quest biggrin.gif

I'll probably get to the main quest sooner or later, maybe at a higher level to try and smash through without having to pay much attention to it laugh.gif

And I'm too much of a power armour junkie to pass it up in favour of the stealth armour, no matter how amusing it looked when equipped with a hat.

I'm thinking this might be a very bad sign for this run. Apparently seven luck just isn't enough... wacko.gif

Urgh.

So, last night, I stubbed my toe.

The middle one, and don't ask me how I managed, because I don't have a clue.

This morning it hurts like hell, is a little swollen, and is starting to bruise down the one side(which makes how I managed to hit it even more peculiar)

mirocu
Is there a toe doctor in the house!? panic.gif

Callidus Thorn
It is most irritating sad.gif
mirocu
Does it hinder your walking?
Callidus Thorn
Yup. It sucks. Heh, it even hinders my wearing slippers! panic.gif

I've been trying to figure out how I even managed it, and I can only conclude, from the placement of the bruise that's forming, that I'd somehow twisted my foot as I was walking, because the bruise is halfway down the toe. wacko.gif

I did something very similar a some years ago. Walked in it almost an entire week before becoming convinced it might actually by broken (rather than sprained) and visited a doctor. Turns out it was fractured. Thankfully for me and my wallet it proved to be what's called a 'clean' fracture which required nothing more elaborate than wearing special footgear to keep that part of my foot immobile while the bone mended on its own, which it thankfully did.

My neighbor, the one who owns a pickup truck, at last has a bit of free time to drive me to the local Home Depot to buy a new lawn mower. We'll be heading out shortly. I was lucky in that the other neighbor's kid unsolicitedly mowed my lawn the other day. Otherwise I'd by wading in weeds now. My old mower broke down part way through last growing season. I was able to mooch a mower for the rest of that season, but don't like doing so for a number of reasons. I'm not gonna be able to buy a mower of the quality I'd prefer thanks to upcoming medical bills, one major bill due early next week. The mower I'm getting is actually pretty nice, but can be a bit hard for me to push in taller grass/weeds. (My health does not always allow me to mow as often as I want. These recent super hot summers don't help matters any.)
mirocu
At least youŽre getting a new toy then laugh.gif
Callidus Thorn
Well, my toe has pretty much stopped hurting, the swelling's gone down, and I can move it freely again. It's pretty bruised, and a bit stiff, but that's about it. biggrin.gif
mirocu
Time to start karate then and kick someone really hard! laugh.gif
Callidus Thorn
Yay!

Then I can hurt my other toes too! biggrin.gif
mirocu
Or simply see if your healed toe will stay healed biggrin.gif
Callidus Thorn
I think I'll wait for it to go back to its normal color before I start testing it.
mirocu
And while you wait IŽm off to da bed biggrin.gif

You have probably broken the toe. The doctors here won't do anything for a broken toe, not sure about the doctors there - but you can ice it to take the swelling down; or soak it in hot water and epsom salts to ease the pain; take aspirin, etc.
